  • This man was returning Champion on many game show pilots. Who is Jack Champion?

  • $25

  • i didnt know charles manson used to host jeopardy...KIDDING

  • Interesting to see modern host (Trebek) with old technology (the "cards", the amounts). Thanks for uploading this!

  • Alex is so young!

  • Anyone else get sea sick from watching this?

  • Jack has been on more pilots, then any other, PYL, SC, JEOPARDY!, CARD SHARKS, did he ever appear on an ACTUAL show?

  • How do you think Jay Stewart did announcing Jonny Gilbert.

  • "Karen, you won the toss..."

I assume that means "tosses", otherwise one of the contestants didn't have a chance...

  • @michaeldoy Unless of course it was one of those 3 sided coins that one would buy from a Magic shop.

  • The money amounts were the same as in the 1978-79 version.

And the set looks like an early TRS-80 computer.

Was Radio Shack (who built and sold the TRS-80) going to sponsor the show??

  • 9:02 Is that true?

  • Heh 3:45 - the center section of the Shopping Cue used on Wheel of Fortune!

  • One again, Jack Campion was won over $70.600 in cash winnings and appeared again in 2nd pilot on the 19984set

  • It not aired. The 1st episode of Alex Trebek hosting Jeopardy! that aired is September 10, 1984 with modern theme instead Art Fleming's Theme

  • I think everyone responsible did well to re-do, and re-debut in 1984. Also, Alex Trebek did better to incorporate his style of hosting, as opposed to any possible attempt to emulate Art Fleming. This was great to see:)

  • Jack Campion was a contestant on the pilot episode of "Second Chance", the precursor to "Press Your luck". See it here:

    watch?v=39WU-9UO4LA

  • @MountainHawkPYL JAck Campion was on Press your luck too.

  • How did you find this, was this actually aired?

  • @cubsrule2040 Somebody extracted the studio master. I have no idea who or how.

  • OMG look at Trebek!!!

  • Ugh- eggcrate just doesn't seem right.

  • @jubjub449 The pull-card gameboard is even more messed up.

  • 6:53

    JACK: "Um... Capers."

    I LOL'd.

You never know what'll happen expectedly in pilots. :D

  • @VikutaaChyaaruzu

    *unexpectedly. (Curse my sleepiness.)

  • One thing I like is how Alex acknowledges that Art Fleming hosted before he did from time to time. Same thing with Pat and Vanna acknowledging Chuck and Susan on Wheel, despite Sony trying to make us believe that the current hosts were the original hosts of the shows.

  • As a big J! fan, I thank you for uploading this. :)

This is one of my fave Jeopardy sets; up there with the red neon of season 1 and the grid set of the 1990s.

  • (Possibly a re-post. Sorry if it is.)

Taped 9/18/83. Wow. Thanks for posting this.

Karen was a multi-time champion in November 1978. She was dethroned by Brian Aronson, who was himself deposed the next day.

So, technically, that makes Karen Muranaka the first contestant to be brought back in the Trebek era.

  • @WarioBarker88 tyvm for giving me the tapedate.

  • You're welcome, but it's 9/*18*/83, not 9/8. Also, only Karen's last episode is on YouTube. Finally, "Super Jeopardy" was the bonus round of the 1978-79 version.

    Just trying to clarify. :-)
