I did it on purpose. On PES 2008 you can dive, even with the goalkeeper. Usually they give a free kick and book the diver, but this time I guess they played the advantage :)

It's because they can't give a penalty if you dive in your own box. And PES doesn't do indirect free kicks in the box, hence they can't penalise it.

Hold LB + LT + RB.

I find it easier holding two of those and then pressing the third when I want to dive.
