somehow this song immidiatly connects with sadness-ss third generation for holocaust survivers-i used to hear this song all the time-before my had passed away,

    yehi zichram baruch.

  • This song is so very beautiful! I sometimes shed a tear when I listen to this and reflect upon the lost world of European Jewish culture ... forever gone with the wind. In any case I would to make a pilgrimage to Kishinev, Bessarabia, where my ancestors were from (now Chisinau, Moldova).

  • 8 Feb'08 /I rented Steven Spielberg's epic masterpiece of filmmaking, 'Schindler's List', a week or so ago. This song is heard during the 'liquidation' of the Ghetto in Krakow during the Holocaust.. I wept and wept...I remember my mother singing this song, and crying because it reminded her of HER mother. (my grandmother).

What a beautiful melody, and the lyrics are heartbreaking. Your photos with this music are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. (are you the singer, too?)

  • Thank you for sharing with us. I was born in Poland (Wroclaw) both of my parents were holocaust survivor; they lost their entire family. On June 2007 I had traveled to Poland it was my first visit since I had left it as 6yo. I was in Krakow had visited the places that you are showing in this video.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. My father was a Polish Jew, a survivor of the holocaust. He was from Gorlitze. This reminds me of a wonderful memory I have of sitting in the back of bis tailer store and singing Ofyn Priperchic.
