I love you too sister; like a fat boy loves cake, like The God love His church. I have never met you personaly but spiritualy we are kin. I would like to remember this that although I value the life that Allah had given me that I wouldn't hesitate using it or any & everything at my disposal to preserve yours.
Wow it shocks me the amount of ignorance is in these comments. Of course u will not see lots of the brothas she talks about b/c media does a GREAT job at hidding Black men success and highlighting the negative. There ALOT of Black men that fall under everything she talks about and I too am proud of them. my brothas live in white america and are still able to overcome obstacles placed against them DAILY!!!. To be a Black man is powerful period. And notice she gives love to ALL brothas.
I noted that someone stated that " only if the black brother could live up to the lyrics" well I personally can't speak for all just as that statement within itself is a generalization of the overall brotherhood as a unit. My understanding of the lyrics was our own are suppose to spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, financially etc.. uplift and support each other through whatever situation or downfall that we as human kind encounter in this life however just as the statement that was
Did it occur to you meaownefertiti, that perhaps Angie didn't get approval to use the images of the artists you mention in your comment? She couldn't just decide, "oh, I'll just make a video and I'll put an image of Prince, M.J., and whatever other black man I want to in it. " That's not how it works sweetie :-)
I think it's a wonderful cross-section of the Black male.
What about non-stereotypical Black men? Ones who do rock music, classical music, who are goth, the ones who are geek, the ones who came out of the closet (this video features some DLs), the ones who don't have big muscles? What about Prine, Trent Terence D'arby, Slash, Seal, MJ, etc.? Or are you telling that you don't want any of them? So "if you don't want me for yourself, then let me find somebody else". Don't get mad when they marry White, Asian, Middle Eastern, Latina and AFRICAN women.
@meaownefertiti why the hate, this song is saluting black men period. Be happy that someone is bring light to us real black men not those fictional thugs.
@meaownefertiti lol you kinda have a point but if you listen to the song when she say strong it mean dont mean the muscles. it mean strong in being able to handle being black in america and dont break under pressure, making something outta nothing. i dont fall under what these black man is i more into the non-stereotypical blk man cause veryone keep saying i act white(w/e) but she's saying long has you proud to be black then your strong
