LOVE IT!!! EPIC AD!!! but then Bob Lutz the father of the 3 Series brought forth the CTS-V and BMW and Cadillac became sinister brothers !!!! in the persuit of driving perfection!!!!
Thank for your comment hellraisermac :) Fully agree, best toy for boys. This ad is from my friend from Russia (Eastern Europe) account. Though it was never aired there :(((
Maybe you find it has an impact because of two things: the car is awesome (cool M5 badge reveal at the end) and the ad is different (compared to feature-highlight ads by lexus).
you're so right actually. I haven't thought about it that way. indeed this ad seems to be smth which was not accepted by a client and maybe client allowed to put it only on the web or smth????
P.S. I also wonder was it a learning for BMW creative team from their internet movies attempt to integrate story telling on a bit of a higher level - actually shoot a real movie instead of a commercial.
I think so. There are so many projects that look finished, but the client ultimatly says "no". This may be one of those projects. I am with you, I love story telling in ads, and different subtle ways to sell a product/service. Exellent example is the liberty mutual ad about responsibility (find it on this site). But something about the writing and the "pace" of this BMW ad feels like a draft to me. The visuals are awesome, and the car practically sells itself (IMHO).
thanks for a comment. i think the ad is indeed weak however, what it made me think of is how you can leverage the exciting storytelling in advertising as well as how can limited branding actually helps. You never any sign of BMW in that commercial and M5 sign appears just for a second.
I also wonder what was its WHO (a target consumer), cause for BMW freaks like me I think that ad was quite impactful.
Where can I find a higher quality version of this video?

Best BMW M TV spot ever. The ultimate toys for boys, obviously a fairy tale story to match. Work on the BMW Canada account.

Good point...that is probably the case. Either it dies within the agency, or maybe some other presenetation, like at a car show, or kiosk or????
Did you catch any of the BMW films? About 4-5 years ago?

This writing is quite sophomoric. Cool car. Weak ad. And have worked on the BMW NA account.
