@Wowurgaylol Terry is our Artist In Residence at the moment, and is the main person we ask to host our shows. His knowledge-base is incredible and he is able to pull amazing stories and insights out of our guests because of it. Curt Bisquera is also a regular host, and lately, so is Cobus Potgieter (who is interning here).
Pridgen was fired not too long ago, I was at the show where it happened.
They were doing a soundcheck and Pridgen wasn't listening to what Cedric asked him to do and they got in an argument. Pridgen left in a cab and I got to talk to Ikey on his way out. The show was canceled too.
@verdenodela1 'the hell. i love the mars volta, they're one of my favorite bands, but sometimes they astound me with how they can cancel shows like it's no big deal to the fans.
I think Omar wanted the chopsfest freakout that were the performances on TBIG
the two albums are a complete contrast in styles
I'm glad that, w/Octo, ppl see that he doesn't have to just 'shred,' as so many ppl have criticised him for. again, I think it's just what Omar wanted for TBIG
after all, as much control as Omar has over things, you think he WOULDN'T tell TP to tone it down some? :)
xD thomas is like a giftest child that just do play drums, and he just talk about what he had learn. others are like yeah im so cool. and hes like wuaaa =3
Personally, I thought his drumming on Bedlam was meh. I mean it was GREAT but, after listening to Jon for so long...to me it was like Thomas used the songs as a chop out session. BUT on Octahedron, the new mars Volta...he held back from the craziness of Bedlam and lays down some insane, sick grooves. For surely, Thomas is a drummer who will make great music for years to come.
Regarding his drumming on Bedlam, I don't think he did bad at all. He could have held back or played something different, but as it turns out Omar and the other people in the band liked it the way it was recorded. Of course he could do meshuggah as well as he could do chamber music. He plays what Omar and the music ask of him.
thomas is such an original drummer. never heard someone play like him. i cant get enough, i've listened to bedlam in goliath countless amounts of times.
Pridgen is young, hungry, and enthusiastic. Good to see.
