  • Hi everyone, has somebody the piano part from this solo? So yes, can i have him please?!

  • get your bell up!!

  • it reminds me of why i fell in love with the trombone and stopped playing trumpet!

  • watch your breathing. very nice overall

  • Very nice! My solo-fest thingy is coming up too. My director gave me this crazy hard technical piece though.. i wish i could play that instead.

  • I'm a trombonist, i love when i have that blank stare when im counting rests and im in the completely wrong position and then like 2 beats before i come in i look normal and go to the correct position.. it psychs people out.

  • ...Don't grab the bell in 3rd...seriously

  • @pedropedaltones

Christian Lindberg grabs his bell. Go watch some videos of him doing it.

  • kiero esta partitura por favor

  • Theese types of tromboneplayers make me sad, they grow, up, thinking beein sad-pose trombone is good for them, playing into the ground while holding the bell on 3. positions! Ok, it's great to start with, but the teacher or something should really say something!

  • @Kiwiboyrockssocks I had work on it and I play 'up' now. stops grabbing the bell. And I stand right up because I'm loving it. Thanks for your comment!!!!

  • Come on girl you're not in middle school any more you need to learn the "true positions" so you can stop being out of tune on notes that have tendencies of going sharp or flat

  • @ChangeWontWait I was just 16 years old!! I started late playing trombone. :) thanks for your comment :)

  • yeah so its not that hard, but it is a grade 7 piece! and a few parts are tricky!!

  • @And3az So? If you want to be like that I just got done learning czardas , 2 weeks after my 15th birthday. pertaining to the solo , very well playeed :)

  • @and3az who are you trying to impress

She played it well and nobody cares that you did it at 12

  • Waarom praat die man zo lang, hoort zichzelf erg graag

  • @19521205 ja blijkbaar moest hij zijn ei kwijt :) Mijn zenuwen waren er niet minder op. Maar heb toch mijn best gedaan :) dank je voor je commentaar :)

  • nice!!!!and i wantbto sleep

  • too much info but like it

  • i hope thats the camera giving her that tone... very nice though....use a tuner next time.... and im not sure about the score but from what i hear it would be nice to hear an imporve on the articulation of each note...... 8/10

  • @omgzitsmilk I'm sorry but from what I hear you are a ass hole!

  • @Zardoz215 well im srry im trying to help. there is a thing my director calls constructive critisism

  • Is anyone else slightly creeped out by this comment?

  • @justinw11235 Someone commented using my profile :D It ain't written by me... Holy SHit! :D Thanks for giving an echo :D

  • where can i get the music sheet i love this song!!!!!!!!!

  • MARRY ME

  • hahahah you wish

  • Nice Thank you for the post

  • Sie ist sehr hübsch ;-)

  • das ist sehr süß :)

  • Pretty good. The only thing i have to comment is alot of notes come out as FWA instead of DA. and her posture could be better. the stand effect stated is not true. what happens is the reverberant sound is more forgiving on articulations than direct sound. it is much better to have good posture and angle your horn toward a wall which she does.

  • the piano starts off in tempo sand she then drags it by the seconded note. and there it stays off tempo.

  • cutting off some of the phrases...

  • This would be touch and go for a pass mark rlly. soz to say it. It's like she's practiced the first phrase of the fast section only. The shame is it sounds only a bit of practice away from being rlly good!

  • Does anyone know who the composer is? I want to find this music, she did a amazing job playing it

  • James Curnow.

  • i think so too :)

  • im gonna buy yhis piece and audition for the lyo with it

  • Great song! Gonna buy this to play on contrabassoon!

  • She didn't hit a few notes clearly, but overall she have great sound and enough air support for the peice.

  • Very nice, I miss my trombone now. ^_^

  • There sure are a lots of people in the comment section who enjoy criticizing. Where do they all come from?

  • Yuo Are VERY correct. !! I give the lady TONS of credits !! If I were to play a trombone, even if it wasn't on the Gong Show, I would be gonged off in a half-heartbeat, but people would still be laughing with me and I would love that, to make people laugh.

  • @mrbrunelle from the planet:: " I don't give a shit, I just like hurting sombody"

  • @evatjah Das ist Nicht Gut!

  • @mrbrunelle das is sehr sehr gut!!

  • @mrbrunelle, nein das is sehr sehr gut!!

  • I would like to be that slide. Plus at 4:00 , if they started playing the theme to Jurassic Park, that would have been for the win for me.

  • it's really good...keep going....

  • Wow i would like to learn how to play this to =D no matter how many SMALL details it doesnt matter it sounds awesome =D

  • can you post a link for the sheet music please, I would really love to learn this song

  • needs more feeling into it...u have to feel the music in order to make it come from urself

  • Nice tone. Some of the notes are a tad off but still good. Just watch the Blats and the footballing. "wwaaAAAAA waAAA wwaaAAAAAA"

  • Holy sloppy slide work, Batman. Clean up the slide - wait until the last possible instant and then fly smoothly to the next position. Also, the tonguing and air-flow are difficult to listen to - each note sounds like a football. Use your tongue to control the air flow, but the air should always be coming out at a steady pace. Use the tongue to softly interrupt that constant stream and you'll avoid the football sound.

  • Note that this isn't objective fact about how the trombone should be played, but just some information about i'm guessing the classic school of thought. Your critique seems a bit harsh.

  • My comment wasn't much of a critique. In fact, the only critical thing I said was the first sentence, and it's the truth - her slide slips quite a bit. There's no denying she's a pretty fantastic player, certainly. However, all of us can appreciate reminders and pointers now and again. The remainder of my post was just that - friendly suggestions that she might use to improve her play.

  • It's good you intended it that way, but you did also say something about the difficulty of listening to her play, and overall it doesn't sound that good as a friendly suggestion. But no hard feelings.

  • I'm talking about the video itself, it buffers too frequently so I hardly watched. It sucks.... But the girl, is admirable for me.

  • nice but i agree w the fellows below, and watch the finger on 4th position

  • eh sounds ok

just looks like your aming your bone to the floor

  • girl. no strength...

  • its called playing under the stand, even if there wasnt a stand thats how any trombonist plays other than in a marching band

  • youre right she does have bad posture but you can angle your horn like that and have good posture

  • actually playing under the stand--what she's doing--gives the trombone a fuller sound

  • Or you can just move the slide to the left of the stand... That's what I do, and it works great. Her posture makes her look uncertain, it makes for a much more enjoyable performance when the performer looks sure of him/herself

  • @gosteelers18 OOOHHHH THATS why it was so weird for me to see everyone playing like that when i got into marching band. my posture was ALWAYS straight up and i held my horn up, but the way i held my trombone was JUST like her. then i got into marching band and NO ONE held their trombone like i did, the slide was horizontal instead ov verticle

  • she sounds good, i'm suprised she holds it so awkwardly though...

  • good!! i love this piece!

  • i love this piece!!

  • I understand that the music is very likely Legato but, her notes don't sound tonged at All! Even Legato notes have tounging to them... it is a very beautiful song itself.

    1) Tounge your notes.

    2) Keep your trombone high and proud

    3) Don't go up and down with the tempo. It messes the notes up.

    4) Try your tuning slide a little bit. They put it there for a reason.

  • Good advice, but for the last one. it could just be her positioning in the main slide (: As a trombonist myself I sometimes think it's my tuning slide when it's actually my main slide (:

  • That's true, that seems to happen to me often...

  • Very often haha.

  • I agree. I use my tuning slide mainly for first position, the rest depend on the main slide.

  • i agree with you compleetly! on a side note, it helps if you hole the slide with your index and middle fingers, and your thumb, then have the ring finger and pinky on the outside, rather than hold the slide with your whole hand

  • Would help if you knew how to correctly spell TONGUE.

  • Does it really matter how I spell it? It get's the point across doesn't it...??

    The help is what matters.

  • kinda sounds like the waa waaa waaaaa thing on every note, like every one of them is being crescendoed

  • Wow that's very good. She should probably keep the trombone a little higher though. AWESOME playing. I'm surprised - this song doesn't go very high.

  • some poeple have trouble keep their trombone high because of the way their jaw is set so thats just the way they mouthpiece sits on their lips.

  • Check this out for an excellent example of beautiful control, articulation, tuning, and interpretation.

Type these tags : trombone usc joseph christian michel.

Clip is called "I play Psalm 23" Live in 2006

  • Sorry, very mushy embouchure and tuning problems. Musically not much contrast or stylistic changes. Phrasing choppy.

  • never critacize a trombone player unless you can prove you are betteer it just herts peoples feelings. you know how hard it is to play trombone???????? she was great and it takes alot of guts to do something like this and i want to see you do something like thiss. so shut upppp. GREAT JOB!! i play trombone and it is hard to go high and such great sound. amazing

  • shes good but she should put her bell higher

  • shes good, I actually tried to play this on my trombone its not to hard. shes holding her slid wrong. she should use her trigger to help her get the higher notes, but she is good

  • there is not really a wrong way to hold your slide, unless you are gripping it in your fist. please dont critisize.

  • First of all, its spelled slide. And no, there isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to hold it. If it works for you, do it. Seccond of all its not a trigger, its called an F Attachment. If you're gonna criticize, know what you're talking about first. Im a professional trombone player making a living playing the horn and I thought she sounded great. There was nothing wrong with it. Good tone, very clean. Back off whoever you are.

  • An F attachment will not help you get the higher notes...and a trigger certainly won't. Learn your terms.

  • I wouldn't mind being that slide.

  • haha!

  • WTF?

    XD

  • I have seen alot of people bragging about playing better than others here on youtube, but unless u come up with an video where u play in front of an audience, so don't come here tell: oh i play so much better :S. (come up with an video and let people tell u how u play, u get so tired of hearing this from always everyone. :(

  • does anyone know what key this song is in?

  • Eb i think

  • ok. thanks.

  • Too bad the audio quality isn't better, she's a good trombone player

  • i have to do a christmas perade this year. she is nodding her head to keep beat but shee could just tap her foot

  • She's not only playing a bass, but she's playing it loudly, with great tone and she's playing the right notes, she's accentuating the notes really well, at 6:10, you can distinctly hear the notes, even though she's playing eighths or sixteenth notes or whatever, I'm too lazy to go back and check.

    She is far from suckish.

I play trombone, 5 years or something like that, so I probably have a better idea than you do.

  • i'm in my fourth year and i agree, there is no way somissemilyy is a beginner and is better. it took me until my 3rd year to get to what i have now (which is a helll of alot better)

so i'd say that somissemilyy has some overconfidence issues...

  • prove it. i bet youre not even close to half this good

  • okay ummm.... no offense but my cousin? yeah srry but could play this without even having to think she is soo much better=]

she inspired me to play and now i'm secon chair in my middle school band out of all 11 of us!! =] srry u no i just gotta gloat

  • wow...you are so crude, and that is rude.

  • i'm the only girl trombone in the band, and am almost 1st chair!!

  • Ahhh, I love this song.

  • hahahahaha,I played trombone for only 6 months and i was switched to first chair just because i could play over 4 different octives.!!!! I also play flute piccolo occarina and piano with some bellydancing so i think i know my music

  • i know, im the only girl trombone

    1st chair :]

  • im a gurl and im a 1st chair!

  • i kinda ment im the only girl, in my band that plays trombone, and im 1st chair haha

  • I might've been 1st chair trombone, but i switched to to tuba, and am probably ganna be 1st chair tuba, but no one really cares about tuba though =(

  • Old Conn with birdbath mouthpiece to start! My tongue slow...church soloist. About age fifty, developed slide tecnique well and used all of the strength in my right arm to jerk the slide quickly between the notes. Ironicly, my teeth were gone by that time and I was playing with false teeth. There was no limit to what I might have achieved as long as I had one upper front tooth. When the last front tooth went the great sound went.

Now I play harps which I designed and built myself.

  • In my band, the tubas are the coolest instrument!

Everyone wants to hang with the tubas, and the low brass in general.

    ^.^

  • Well my school is a big sports school, the only people that really pay attenion to band are band people and they're friends

  • Oh yeah, it's kinda the same here

we had to march in snow because we would 'tear up the main field' even though the football players wear cleats

    *eye roll*

now all of our footsies are cold!

  • lol I not in marching band quite yet, give me 2 years though, our distric cut band for 5th graders, I feel so bad for them

  • lol...my school doesn't care about our band either...i mean..my band's pretty good too. In fact, we're prolly one of the teams that wins most consistently. We're USSBA Northern All-States Champions for the past 3 years in a row (Group 4A, 3A, and 2A chronologically) and won in 2004 too.. xP but of course, no one cares...

  • I'm in beinging band at RBSMS this year I've been playing for 7 weeks now i know all my positions and embouchure but I'm not great at high notes my band teacher mr.leahy (which awesomely amazing and the best teacher ever in the history in foreverness)wants me to try the tuba i would make the switch too besides there is 4 trombones and I'm like the best out of all of them and the fact that most my friends which are 99% dudes (and some of them are kinda perverted )taunt me and call me a tromboner

  • Low brass kicks ass.

  • I've played with many male and female trombonists. I would say it's about 50/50 overall.

  • with a name like FANTASY TROMBONE I thought it would be HARD but it's not. I can do it and I'm a frikking 8th grader.

  • You may be able to do it, but can you do it in tune, and with such good tone?

  • congrats. lets see ya do it :]

  • can you send me sheet music?

  • dit is echt goede muziek, virtuoos gespeeld. Dit komt van een jongen van Nederlandse zijde.

  • tttaaaa not bwaaa

  • good good good, sounds great, you just need to work on putting the same ammount of air at the beggining of a note rather than putting it in the middle. It will get rid of the balooning, and if you do it correctly will keep your pitch consistant.

  • Man... That was alot better than the first time you played it. This time you ironed out the small wrinkles in your playing while completely ignoring the HUGE tears in the fabric!

  • woooooooooooooow omg

    u are awesome player!!!!!!

    congrats

i play trombon too but not that good

im shocking u are really good

    and a woman too jejejejeje

    bye

  • I also play the trombone and it seems like there are more girl trombonists then dudes

  • Amen to that one sister! The only tbones in my band is me and this other girl! We rock their socks off HARD!

  • well there are 10 trombones in our band, and i don't remember if we have a girl or not, if we do its only one

  • same here. Our band had 7 trombonists. There was only 1 girl.

  • dwaa dwaaa dwaaa . move the air through the notes.

  • i played this in a solo contest....shes decent, technically, but she has some pitch problems and she sort of "chews" all of the slow notes

  • i don't play, so i wouldn't know, but how do you hurt yourself holding the slide that way?

  • I play trombone in my class and they think its G@y i think its Kool!!! =) *Nice Job A+ =) *

  • awesome playing you have given me a totally new respect for trombone playing girls! GREAT JOB

  • Ow! that was a bad balloon neer the end! ...I don't mean to brag...but I could probably hit that last note an octive higher than that...all I'm saying is that the longer you play, the more you can do.

  • You must be so good, teach me.

  • A-mazing

  • that was nice. I'm only 5th grade right now, but by the time I finish school I'll be 8th

  • Hey now, pretty good for a young kid. This must have been one of her first solo performances judging by her not acknowledging the audience with a bow or curtsy...she'll get better with time if she stays with it. Ya done good!

  • I play trombone im playing a serenade at this solo uil thing.Any advice on musicality or anything like that?Cause you r excellent

  • I play trombone im playing a serenade at this solo uil thing.Any advice on musicality or anything like that?Cause you r excellent

  • You could seriuously get hurt by holding the Trombone slide like that. trust me I would know.

  • I had to have stiches after doing that!

  • true...that really hurts when you hit your knuckles!

  • yeah- that CAN cause a scar. Like the one on my left hand.

  • I too, am a girl Trombonist... only 7th grade... but I would say I'm pretty good... That seems like it would be fun to play!

  • everyone's like, oh cool stuff man, nicely put old man, but can we hear what the trombone player has to say? the tension ensues on for like over minute. watch it twice for laughs.

  • eh a bit wawawa.. (slide movement) :P throw some overtone in this piece and rock out :D :D hehe

  • Sounded fairly nice. Some notes were out a hair out of tune, but over all sounded good. I liked that you tounged fast enough at the 120 section, but at "J" was a little messy, but I have trouble with that section too =/. I perform this piece tomorrow at my local Solo and Ensemble, on baritone though lol. Anyways good job.

  • be careful at the end you did crack the b flat but still you did an amazing job

  • very good.

    good tone and air.

some places need faster slide. but other than that; awesome. :)

i want this peice really bad!!

  • Well played. It's a good piece and sounds effective.

  • this was very good but i have some advise: the first slow section is supposed to make me close my eyes and dream i kno it sounds gay but its true in other terms needs more musicality other than that it was fine. of coruse thers intonation but everyone has a problem with that

  • somebody must tell me where to get that song!!! please!!!

  • JWPepperdotcom!!! PLEASE!!!!

  • thanks lol

  • this was really good!!! i am the only girl that plays the trombone and i am one of the best for 5 grade so ya that was awesome some notes were off tho

  • Yays! Another (girl) trombonist! I'm the only girl in my band that plays the trombone too! I'm in seventh grade though. ;)

  • there's two in my group but i know how you both feel!
