  • Makes me sad, just last week I thought to myself "I should create a collaborative web-based audio production program", then googled the idea and sure enough someone beat me to the punch lol Good work, it looks awesome!

  • lol Josh Knob lolololololo

  • where is it?

  • Who the hell uses model E anymore????

  • WHAT DOES IT HAPPEN IF 2010 IS ENDING??? 3:58

  • How will copyright work for this? Say if someone gets kicked from the group but their ideas still are used in the track will they be able to sue the group or something? Or if that person leaves the group will all the work they done get automatically deleted up to the pointy before they joined?

I'm all for this but I can't help to think there will be some issues with ownership of the tracks.

  • @infraction2008 The points you mentioned have been issues since musicians have been gathering together to work in physical studios; the very same problems will just be moving to an online forum. I'm sure people will find a way to muddle through.

  • @infraction2008 MEH - if your worries are in copywrite then perhaps avoid all decent electonic music

  • @smuekus How would that fix the problem? If the music is decent then more than likely some half chancer is going to try and steal it and pass it off as their own, look at FL studio for instance and the way some n00bs try to claim demo projects as theirs.

Yes these problems have been about for ages however this is a new concept which makes it more easy to jump into someones studio and steal their work. It would be good if they saved some sort of credits with the session of who took part etc

  • @infraction2008 It's a simple problem to avoid actually.. You just need to build collaboration relationships with the right people. If you are a skilled professional that partners with other skilled professionals then the chances of seeing the work stolen are thin. Skilled producers take pride in what they do and I can seldom see any of them stealing from others. And if you are a noob working with noobs, then even if one steal the work. You lose something that is probably not that good anyway.

  • I cant wait for the Beta Test :)

If everything is like you have shown in the Video.....

Ohmstudio is going to be Great!

    Good Work! ;)

  • epic.

  • Considering that this is a online cloud based application, I suspect that this will have a subscription model of pricing.

  • *cries* Too bad this is a closed beta. Which I can understand "why" but I'm a remixer over at FiXTremix[dot]com and some remixers have been asking for a program that can do EXACTLY what this does.[Because FiXT just released a collaborative remix contest] = ( And I actually would love something like this. I'm just a little sad that it's a closed beta and the idea is a little late, but it's ok. Also an idea I have is voice chat feature too! That would be SICK! I just hope the Open Beta is soon!

  • This is like the most soulless way to make music. No thanks.

  • @mrbrockpeters Go back to your tape decks, luddite! :P

  • @toxicgospel Oh did I rag on something you like? Boo hoo!

  • @mrbrockpeters You are free to not make part of this.

  • @reactor4music I know. I'm not. I'm just giving my 2 cents. That is still ok right? We are still allowed to do that in this time and place right?

  • @mrbrockpeters Exactly

  • Hello, I just wanted to ask : how much it will cost? I guess it won't be free :D

  • To cool!

  • AND WHAT IF THIS FUTURE IS...2010!!!!! Absolutely great. I'll buy this as soon as it gets out!

PS: Will the Ohm software guarantee free updates?

  • Sorry.. sounds too nerdy and how-to-setup-softeare to me :-(

  • This is gonna be sweet.

  • It's like an MMO for musicians :P. This looks like it could be a lot of fun.

  • Just a thought that has been bugging me , Although this concept is solid what are you going to do about all the legal issues , who gets what and who owns the rights and so

  • Great iDea.

Hope you'll have live instruments feature for anyone wants to add to the session....

  • Congratulation guys this looks awsome!! just hope you have some solid copyright plan for the songs

  • This makes me happy. It reminds me a LOT of Res Rocket / DRGN / Rocket Network, which I absolutely loved. If this delivers on the vision and doesn't require my collaborators to wield giant bags of money, I'm sold.

  • im gonna replace all the synths in your song with farts or dogs barking and then sell that song with your midi

  • love the MICROSOFT SONGSMITH reference :)

    "you siiiing intoooo a microphooooone"

  • Oh that's nice! Anyway I quote meccleshall: how do you deal with copyright issues?

Anyway there's also another similar service: Thounds :)

  • @Warriant Thanks! Check us out on youtube, myspace and facebook! (Link in the video description)

  • Great idea but copyright / intellectual property is a nightmare. is each collaborator a session musician (one off fee) or a songwriter (and due points), how do collaborators qualify for PRS / MCPS, and who do these agencies pay.

Imagine setting up a session, using various people's collaborative talents but releasing the track as your own. What if that track then gets signed for publishing or released?

If you are looking for pro musicians to use this, they will expect these issues to be clear

  • Seems like aligning people to using the same tools is the trickiest part, that's the hardest part I find with online collaborations, everything ends up being a .wav bounce that I merge into my own session. The bar is set pretty high for a new catch-all DAW.

  • me encuentro babeando la cobija

  • I don't quite know what to think of the implications that something like this will have on the industry...

  • This looks epic!!

  • WOOO Very nice xD

  • pretty kool-+

  • when?

  • Simply AMAZING!!!!

  • Sounds awsome, as long as I can use my own plugins.... massive, sylenth1, nexus, waves, sonnox, tracks3 :) haha

  • ahah nice! I can see a LIVE OHM coming...Musicians from different locations being able to play live as they were at the same place....hmmmm

  • sounds epic

  • Will it be able to replace ISDN for serious VO work?

  • I think I just graped my squildo. This looks ultra ace.

  • Steinberg au asa ceva de ani de zile

    de la cubase sx 3

  • this is gonna be great :]

  • The future looks Ohmtastic!!!!

  • This will be very complex regarding user agreements and 3rd party software. Hope you guys think that out.

  • fantstic!

  • How does this differ from Image Line's Collab which comes with FL Studio? It's not meant as an offence, the product looks great. I'm just wondering. Of course there's great features such as versioning and the community thing. But in general it seems to be a lot like Collab.

  • @spaaske For one collab has been past tense for a while, and you could not hear what the others were doing until it was done. From what i get you will be able to hear in real time whats being recorded, collab was crap.

  • @teacee that was a clear answer teacee, thanks :D

  • Excellent. I wonder who the first follower will be?

  • About time. Impulse tracker (dated 1995 mind you) was already capable of doing a lot of these things. What I don't get is why nobody jumped in on this any earlier? :-) Awesome concept.

  • @mbarie : You're right! This feature in Impulse Tracker WAS the very first inspiration for the Ohm Studio concept.

  • @OhmForceSoftware is there a beta going on? As I'm one of your customers maybe I can enroll? :-)

  • @mbarie Good gracious, this isn't my best day. Found it...

  • @OhmForceSoftware you beat me to it. can i work for you? :P

  • @mbarie wow someone else who used impulse tracker. That software was amazing when you learned to use all the channel efx skillfully, and bounce tracks for use w/ external efx. i wrote hundreds if not thousands of tracks in that.. actually started in modtracker/scream tracker before that but IT was the ish.. what are these similarities between IT and ohmstudio? i cant WAIT to try this software =D

  • @amplex1337 Impulse Tracker actually had a networking feature which allowed multiple users to access the same track+samples+arrangement and edit it simultaneously. I don't quite remember everything as vividly as I want to but I think it was possible to chat as well. It was really buggy though and crashed on me all the time. Good fun though :)

  • @mbarie mentioning trackers, it would be great if this supported some kind of tracker too, not everybody loves piano roll .)

  • shit song

  • If this DAW is full featured with all professional necessities (delay comp, freeze tracks, great audio file management, elastic audio, etc), this could be seriously amazing.

  • Awesome!

  • View count has been freezed a long time :/

  • This is NAUGHTY :D

  • This technology is going to dramatically change our lives. Ohm opened the pathway to something that is going to become the standard in DAWs.
