irene's version doesn't disrespect the four tops version. hers is good. it's just that theirs was better produced by the motown machine. diana ross did a version of this song and hers is just as good as the four tops. in my eyes, irene cara can do no wrong. she has such charisma and sparkle. i just hate that the music business pimped her and put her on the music stroll like she was a two dollar tart. this girl is owed millions for her work. i hope she gets them one day.
¡Vaya!, no sabía que en mi casete 20 tenía la versión de Irene Cara hasta que busqué en Internet y pude comprobarlo a través de Youtube. Por supuesto, gracias también a irenecarashrine.
Wow, now I know why Irene Cara is only known for "Fame", she sounds like every other "pop princess" singing this song. Another great one hit wonder ( I DO love Fame ).
I prefer Gloria Gaynor's version..... this is more pop, too "Flashdance", and yep, too psychodelic in its images to reflect the original meaning of the song.
Has anyone noticed that most 80s covers done these days dont have the talent of the originals. E.G They dont reach the high notes and the singing sounds reedy and pathetic. This is a good song and well covered, Go sexy Irene go.
Did this gurl release videos for all tracks from this album!? She must have had mad money - back then, videos were'nt cheap and MTV didn't play videos by black artists in 1982, especially with songs 4 years out of style!!
So good! This is Cult! :)

In the Gloria Gaynor's version it's more pure 70's.
