That right there, is pure genius. In it's truest form. I always wonder what artists feel about the songs they write/the image they put out for themselves, ya know. And John just has this understanding with music in itself. Not just his purpose with the music, he takes into account the ever changing popularity of music as far as his personal liking as well as what his fans wants to hear and even what music wants to hear. That level of acknowledgrment is absolute genius. I love him more than ever.
Mayer's freedom of "scenes" is what I love. His outspokenness, honesty, lucid cleverness, and improvisation of thought is what makes him not only an honest and intellegent man, but wholly accessible as well. He nails it with these "scenes" that drive me absoutely crazy. If you didn't know some of these bands like Death Cab, you would think it's only for coffee house wannabes with the dark-rimmed glasses, contstantly doing that head flip to move the hair..Mayer is very refreshing.
@BrannonMcConkey I agree completely. And I find it crudely ironic that JM has such a great comprehension of the "cliques" in music, but his music is catergorized so quickly. Just the other day I made a new Mayer fan. A friend of mine was under the impression that JM was a poppy type artist and I made him listen to some of his work with BB King and he was extraordinarily knocked off his feet. You can't judge an album by it's cover! It takes a certain kind of person to appreciate JM and his music.
