@TracyAndersonFoxhunt There have been players with better skill-sets in Boston, but none had more balls then O'Reilly who transformed himself into quite a good all around player during his career.
@5inthehole i agree. i really love Keith Magnuson. i've read his book 'None Against' 2 times. but i love Terry, too. what guts!! I hate this video because i can't route for one guy or the other. they're both great and i really admire and respect them both, and yeah, Terry O'Reilly was the best and a great player, too
@TracyAndersonFoxhunt Of all the defenseman of the 70's, none worked harder to become quite a good defenseman than Keith Magnuson. Like O'Reilly, he was another player with brass balls who would sometimes take a beating defending smaller players like Stan Mikita. It's really sad he had to leave us so early, as I heard he was a very charitable man. Many of the sluggers on the ice are nice guys off the ice. O'Reilly gave me an auto when I caught him in a parking lot.
@TracyAndersonFoxhunt It's what the modern games missing. Both were tough guys who evolved into tough guys who were great players at their position. Neither was a cheap shot artist like Matt Cooke, but they stood up for team mates and really entertained the fans. We in Boston love O'reilly as he fit the mold of what a Bruins player was supposed to be. We came to appreciate Magnuson for the same reason even if he played for another team. Great Player!
