  • love this group soooo much!!!!

  • Number 4 !!!??? I'd say number 1, 2 and 3 together. OK, I'm a little drunk so I'm allowed to exxaggaraytde.

  • Chic were the ultimate disco band hands down, what great songs. In the 80s they produced albums and wrote songs for everyone Diana Ross, Debbie Harry, David Bowie, Madonna etc etc. If you listen to rap you will most prob.. hear their music in the back ground as their music has been sampled by the masses.

Good health Nile for 2012 and on.

  • Fgjxkfhxgkckhg

  • damn, after I saw Huggy at the end, I wanted more. Nice show!!!

  • Support Black indie films! Create your own stories.

  • ABBA he ultimat disco band

  • @cddvdpop no it's Chic

  • who cares you don we jst like catchy melodies, you dont hum chunky chord riffs

  • Chic was not only the ultimate disco band...Chic was one of the ultimate musical bands EVER in the history of popular music. Chic has been nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame SIX times (including this year). When will musical justice be served and this truly deserving group FINALLY be inducted?

  • for my money too...!!!

  • And I agree, for my money CHIC were the ultimate disco band !

  • I miss Bernie's grooves . . . !!!!!

  • Awesome! This should be expanded into a 60-minute special featuring all the presented videos to the songs in full length. That would be heaven!

  • is there anyway to get this entire show?

i teared up watchin this shit....damn

  • Introduced by Antonio Fargas ("Huggy Bear")

  • Wow, at 4:12, "we feel they're geniuses".

    Very sweet, sincere.

  • LOVE NILE!

  • Amazing story!!!

  • UNIQUE CHIC!!!

  • Nile's guitar + Bernard's bass = infectuous music. RIP, Bernard.

  • + Tony Thompson on drums. RIP Tony.

  • i agree with huggy chic was the ultimate disco band

  • It was bad enough when we lost Bernard Edwards...........it was worse when we lost Tony Thompson. To say they were irreplacable would be an understatement.

  • Are you kidding? Bernard Edwards was Chic!! His bass lines were the best and made you wanna move. they are still talked about his incredible bass playing in many coversations i hear . He was just the badest bass player!! Not for nothing but i never here anything about tony being a killer drummer and that he couldn't be replaced because he could have! that's not to say he wasn't great drummer though. I do know nile can produce

  • Great talents. Thanks.

  • Chic, Chic, Chic, Chic Chic.

    Chic, Chic, Chic, everybody strut!!!

  • Neil Rodgers, great - unbeatable!

  • Tony Thompson was a human drum machine!!

  • absolutly true and he was sooooo good!!

  • these guys are legends ! Much under rated ..

  • he was?, I never knew that. cool

  • they were the Mc cartney - Lennon of the disco

  • HEY HEY HEY!

  • What a talanted guys! What a influencer! Sadly, Edwards and Thopson are gone. Even the great Sammy Davis here. We need that talent these days.

  • chic are so fantastic, I also find it so cool that modjo love em as well which is why chillin samples le freak and lady samples soup for one

  • Truly ones of the best ever musical duos; Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.

  • Chic will always be the pinnacle of the 1970s music scene.

  • How did they got number 4???? Chic should be number 1

  • grande

  • they are legends!

  • Let's not forget, chic produced the LP "KooKoo" for Deborah Harry in '81. The single "Backfired" did fair, but the LP cover was banned in the UK.

They also produced a soundtrack for the movie "Soup for one". The Single "soup for one" was not a strong hit, but the other song on the soundtrack, "Why" by Carly Simon, was a major smash hit (Chic produced). This song had a rap version! It was the 12" UK REMIX of "Bonita Applebalm" by A Tribe called Quest!!! a Collectable....!

  • these guys are the lasting reason i play bass..i actually started in 85 in orchestra..i loved duran duran and john taylors playing..and once i found out john taylors major bass inffluence was bernard edwards it was like a new plane of music for me, then i picked up jazz and other stuff..i own a music man bongo bass its name is bernard edwards.thanks for the vid!

    D

  • Totally agree, Chic are the funkiest band ever!!!

  • How does he (Bernard ) play that opening riff to everybody dance? Amazing!

  • Looks like he is using his thumb like a pick.

  • Wasn't Marianne Carroll one of the violin players during recording of "LeFreak"

  • I was in Japan for their last concert and was there to see Bernard Edwards, Got some great footage of him playing! Such a loss, I still can't believe it.

  • Lets not forget them all. Bernard Edwards (deceased) Alfa Anderson Luci Martin Tony Thompson (deceased) Norma Jean Wright Fonzi Thornton Robert Sabino Raymond Jones Andy Schwartz Sammy Figueroa Michelle Cobbs Karen Milne Cheryl Hong Valerie Haywood
  • Yeah! The keyboards on Spacer (Sheila & B. Devotion), the strings on You Fooled Around (Sister Sledge), the drums on I'm Coming Out (Diana Ross). Everyone delivered. I'm stunned how many great tracks they made 1978-1980!

  • Your absolutely right.

  • And Marianne Carroll

  • Doesn't get better than Bernard & Nile!

  • Obvious musical Mastery!

  • Nile Rodgers , Bernard Edwards ,I send you endless ,immense respect and love , on earth and in heaven , thank you for being a part of my life

  • Thanks for that video, dude !!

  • The above statement is from either one of those "disco sucks" cats or young folk who were never there!

  • hey i'm 24 and spend waaay too much money collecting funk soul and disco lps, 70s was a golden age of music!

  • Only a dumb-ass hill-Billy Canadian would say something like that. I know because I'm Canadian. Funk got no play back in the day in Canada, Canada's biggest City Toronto just got their 1st R&B station 5 years ago, talk about a head up one's ass! Needless to say I don't roll there anymore, to many ignorant people like u man.

  • Good...stay the fuck home.

  • BreathDoctor, you are a racist, white trash piece of shit. Please leave.

  • My comment had ZERO to do with Racism, you dipshit. Get a grip. You didnt like the comment, so you bring Racism into it. YOU'RE the Racist, dickhead.

  • Fine. I'll take race out of the equation. Rogers, Edwards and Thompson were all incredible players. If you can't look past the fact that their music was disco, you are pretty narrow-minded and not that bright.

  • Tell that to those who sample their songs or the other stars who sought and worked with them. Look at the credits on Madonna's "Like a virgin."

  • Ridiculous. No one dies of penumonia in a hotel room without other neglectance. What a loss. Best cool bass-stringman ever.

  • Nile!

Luv u....this is so kool, so this is what I missed!

    your Baybee cuz Kitty

  • i never knew the causes as to why bernard edwards died i heard it was aids related actually....[nile and bernard] both were brilliant musicians who went on to become great producers after brief solo albums nile went on to lace hits for david bowie even, bernard scored major hits for jody watley, tony thompson the drummer was the anchor for the power station!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dont forget about how great of a drummer tony thompson was. rip tony thompson!!!!! we miss you and bernard of course

  • CHIC rules!!

  • one of the best bass players ever so sad

  • Dude sampling sux.Music won't be great again till young musicians start experimenting again, you just can't keep reusing old songs and adding fucked up melodies over them and ruining old classics

  • spot on man stop sampling and start playing

  • your fucking joking.

  • Influential Bassist Bernard Edwards (1952 - 1996)

I believe, should of been persuaded further into hospital on that fateful night in Japan in 1996... Probalby, he still would of been alive today if he had done so....(RIP)

    Thxs for postingxxx!

  • Hey,what about Tony Can't leave him out.

  • damn straight ! he's one of the tightest funk drummer ever

  • Widout him they woulda just been Shic(lol).

  • LOL. A friend o' mine who is a house DJ told me once that when mixing old school funk, he was always amazed by Tony's drummin cause unlike most of the other funk records tempo never rushed or drag: just like a machine made house track. nuff said !

  • Yeah !!! Eye got back n2 " Chic" in 97',bought thier Greatest Hits.I learned then that Bernard was gone. Some of mye greatest memories were experienced through their music,in L.A..Thier sound, even as producer's, surprizes me,as eye'm till this day am still learning 'who' recorded twith them.Everthing they created has"A Lasting Effect,And Endless Appeal"Thank you ssoo much for continuing mye education.

  • The best ever Bernard Edwards, simply the best

  • one of theee greatest

  • Bernard Edwards should be a household name. I'd put him up there on a level with James Jamerson. R.I.P. Chic rocks!

  • Thanks for putting this on UTube.

    Bernard is my bass hero!

    Cheers.

  • R.I.P Bernard. You were a gigantic influence when I first started playing bass, and my hero.

  • Bernard was a giant
