@teuliveinrio Well, the native emulator (comes with the dingoo) is shit....
But the dingux one (have to install it and takes some doing) is great! Almost perfect, only not so good with tv-out (cuz you can't overclock) but on dingux you should run all your games greatly!
@wwereaper Well, if you are sticking with the native firmware, then, no, not really, only good for GBA, and maybe some multimedia.....
However, if you intend to install dingux, then it's a whole different story! Buy it! Great apps ranging from emus to ports of PC games like doom and duke nukem.... Great community support... Overall awesome little device! And seeing how cheap it is ("rivals" like GP2x and pandora are at least twice as expensive) then it really is worth it!
got a dingoo myself. quality on a 42" screen is *terrible*. nice review though. I also had problems with playing back one of those 700mb xvidencodes (audio 2ch 128kbps mp3, 885kbps video 23.976fps at 608x320) - simply too choppy and quality is so degraded it would be better to re-encode stuff to fit the dingo specs. takes ~20min tops on a modern machine
I love my dingoo but just tonight I was loading up a game and it crashed and the screen froze. I cant turn it off and theres no battery to remove power supply. HELP!!!!
If you are interested in getting something like this for cheap, message me. I have an ebay account/facebook group dedicated to selling cheap yet reliable electronics and I can hook you up. Thanks!
if you put a high quality video on the dingoo it will be displayed in lower quality to fit the dingoo screen but will it be displayed in the actual quality of the video on a tv? you know what im saying?
Well, I'm sold. I got a website where I have access to a TON of movies, tv shows, and cartoons. With the 4GB of internal memory and 2GB from an SD card, I can take my video files on the go and even watch them on TV after I download them. AWESOME! Not to mention the emulators, which I already have games for. MP3 player is nice too. How is the internet browser on it?
@EvilOverlord42 I know your comment was posted a year ago, but there are now third party emulators available which are apparently an improvement over the inbuilt Genesis/Megadrive emulator. There are now also wireless controllers available for playing games on your TV.
It could be faster but it's unlikely. Emulating it is very hard to do, and there are so many games that can not be played at all
because they use a special chip.
Still, I think the video player alone justifies buying this. iPods can only play .mp4 files made for it, but this can play pretty much anything except HD videos.
When the manufacturer releases a new version of the emulator it *may* be faster, but who knows. Fact is, the NEO GEO and CPS1/2 emulation runs pretty musch 100% as well as the GBA. So I think the hardware could do 100% speed on the SNES and the emulator is just crappy.
You must be joking!?! Neither NEO GEO nor CPS1 nor CPS2 are even close to 100%, GBA isn't either. If you want to see how slow they are, disable auto frameskip and set frame skip to 0. The hardware is fast enough to emulate 8-bit systems like the NES, but that's it. Even IF they update the emulators in the future, there's not much room to improve SNES emulation.
mmh..you will never get a 100% accurate experience on an emulator. Really people compare the dingoo to the pandora and the GP2x, but it's like comparing an iPad to a budget netbook, it's just not fair to compare something that cheap to something twice the price!

the genesis emulator is good

because i love sonic

Sonic is somewhat difficult: fast genesis games suffer from a screen distortion and sonic 2 seems not to have sound on the dingoo.

Yes, the emulators are on the flash disk and can be upgraded (even without upgrading the firmware, which is also possible).

BTW, does the resolution of TV output equals 320x240 pixels? Can videos be adjusted to be output to 640x480 pixels resolution?
alfsoftzd 2 years ago
I suppose the output is 320x240 equivalent composite. Someone with more knowledge in signal processing should check that, though.

Thank you! And what is in the settings section in Television menu?
