  • theyre too quiet.... my coach would be saying YOURE TO QUIET!!! CALL YOURE BALLS OR YOURE GOING TO OWE ME SUACIDES!!

  • Hey you idiots above... It works on your speed for getting off the floor while diving for the ball.

  • My volleyball coach does this with us and as much as i dislike it, it helps on working together as a team and it helps on your speed.

  • BTW the comments are so weak on this vid it isnt even funny. Dont even bother blasting back at me because if you havent noticed whats up by now , you never will. My god how blind ? The bad thing is that you arent blind at all. Thats sad..

  • Just another lib-turd in a position to do harm to our kids. WHAT IN THE HELL GOOD DOES IT DO TO HAVE LITTLE GIRLS LAYING ON EACH OTHER TO PLAY FREAKING VOLLY BALL????NONE. You made up that drill for yourself because you are a nasty fucking lib-turd. If you did that to my daughter I would punch you into next Monday. YOU SCUMBAG LEZBIAN. Go ahead parents keep your mouth shut. Its cute isnt it?

  • Trump for president!!!

  • I never doubt other coaches but I have coached for 17 years and never do drills like this. I don't get it.

I make my kids pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass serve and hit....gosh I love volleyball!

  • For a punishment we have to do lines, a set for each mistake touching the end lines, attack lines and center line while ducking under the net each time. Or you could opt out and to 10 pushups for each set of lines (doesn't sound like much but when your option is between 23 sets of lines or 230 pushups....).

  • for my team the punishment was volleyball pushups. you do a regualr pushup escept you have a volleyball under one hand. it hurts!

  • gawd .. mi coach would nv do dat -- i noe dis is fer speed n communication , but .. do we actually DO dat in tournaments ? owh come on ..

  • At my school out punishment is to run around the gym 3 times

  • volleyballtalk.webs.com

  • i had this much skill when i was in 3rd grade

  • it looks like a good comunication and fundamentals drill.nothing wrong with working on that....plus you get your sprints in all at the same time lol

  • Why do coaches try to criticize others attempts at making practices different. She said the drill was to improve communication. In my coaching experience with volleyball communication is very important. This drill is definitely one that will improve communication and the girls should be passing setting and hitting the ball as they get better at it. Keep up the good work coach.

  • ugh i hate this drill i have to do it at practice all the time!!

  • not a great drill, they should have a setter on the net, so they don't have to set it backrow and get a roll over. with a setter on the net they could get a nice pipe or 61 or something..

  • I`m a volleyball player, and I think this is just wasting time. We must be serious, can we use that "Lincoln drill" in the game??

What is next, a flick flack to use in the game???

  • Consequences.....SERIOUSLY...Not an option everyone makes mistakes..stop trying to tourture them they are very good!

  • shes saying it like that but she doesnt mean it like that, they are very good, but see strength training is a very imporant part of every sport and by making them do someting when they do something wrong it makes their strength get better, and makes them think of what they did wrong...you have no idea what we have to do....its insane but very clever

i dont know if i made any sense lol :p

  • @westerngirl08 consequences are sometimes neccessary. my coach has this push up drill that we do. we can only freeball or downball it over the net. and if it lands on the ground or the free ball is too short, we have 10 pushups. the first time we did it we had 120. anyway, consequences make people work hard in my opinion. we got a lot better with back row playing during tournaments.

  • so whats the point of being joined together like dat?!!?

  • To reduce the time and reps working on the skills that matter.

These types of drills drive me crazy. The farther you get from practicing the skills of the game the more you are wasting your time and your kids' time.

"The best drill for volleyball is pass, set, hit" - Marv Dunphy

  • We do a drill sorta kinda like this. . . I play high school volleyball and we do a drill we call "doggie drill" i don't know why but it's exactly like this but with only two people.

  • so the upper takes the ball exept when the second one calls for it. Come on , for warm up ok, but ......

  • I would attempt to use more game specific drills. How often in a volleyball match are girls actually laying on top of one another? If you are trying to have your drills game like, then I would leave this one on YouTube and not in the gym.

  • @jtmitchem Not often are they laying on top of one another, but there are some very game-specific things going on here. I've done similar things to help impress upon the players the importance and the habit of getting available to hit. players start in an unfamiliar position and it forces communication and decision-making. after the pass, one player has to decide to set, who to set, and the other two have to get in a position to approach. add a team to the other side and keep score and it a game

  • @jtmitchem I would disagree....true that girls aren't often laying on top of one another, but this drill is useful in communication. Volleyball does require a excessive amount of communication in order to create a good team. Also the fact that these girls had to get up quickly keeps them on their feet and ready to move, also a must in this game.

  • This is a great drill for communication and chemistry I've been using this drill and I love it!

  • i guess the purpose of having them op top of another is so that it determines who makes first touch, second, third. coz the first one that gets on her feet is obviously the one with no one on top of her. so he'd bumo, second set, and third tries to attack...

  • i like this drill alot....ill tell my team!!!!

  • what is this???

  • sccheint ne häftige übung zu sein aber wenns funzt...... mal ausprobieren

  • wow interesting :).. i need a coach :(and be ina team :)

  • You should have your player's stop when ever there is a ball on the court. Every coach know's safety come's first.... Your other player's should have called ball down to let the player's on the court know that there is a ball on the court... They should stop doing what ever it is when they hear that... SAFETY COME'S FIRST NOT LAST....

  • interesting .. :)

  • what is the purpose of them laying on top of each other because my team has done this drill before but we just lay next to each other on the end line

  • yeah me too!

  • good drill(:

  • this video is on The soup blog website

  • consequence? oohh bad seeds.

    .____. =o

  • why there not jumping u have to jump :)

  • thats a good drill

  • I disagree with the set towards the net... Pass towards the net, and always set off the net, never forward. As a hitter the simple move is to bring it off, not forward.

The drill is a variation on one I use called "Crash and Burn" where they need to perform a shoulder roll before they can play the ball.

  • I agree with you, especially the passing the ball to the net--I find that passing directly to the setter is more effective. Just my opinion though. ;)

  • I've done drills of this type but never all of us on top of each other! I probably would have hurt myself lol. Really gets you on your toes though.

  • Wooo!

I see Katie, Laura and Kylieee!

  • never seen this type of drill, pretty cool
