i'M CANADIAN. WE switched to dollar coins 25 years ago "loonie" and two dollar coins "twonie". We don't have room in our wallets for anything under 20 or 50 lately. Canadian dollor surpassed the american dollar again. UUMMM How many times is that in the last few years? LOL

@keir193 i was making an observation. not a joke, if it were a joke i would have put lol after it. all of our vending machines only fit up to a quarter. and fyi, i am an american, not that that makes any difference to you because you will just say that im dumb for some reason or something. and what do you mean by "lowest common denominator"? im confused, when did we start talking about math?

Well, in Brazil we used to have a one real bill. And it was always so old and swaty seen as one real bills go around so much. And they have to destroy and print out so often. So they stopped making the one real bill. It was strange to me at first but now I quite prefer it.

We have two reais bills. That was weird to me at first too, as it didn't seem to fit the logic of getting rid of the one real bill. But again, it works out nicely. I think people just don't generally like change.

xD Fair enough; to each his own. But to me, it seems like only the more expensive values should be a bill. I've been to the U.S. before, and I guess an advantage is that they're less heavier, but I still prefer my loon-designed coins. And in fact, Canada didn't always have the coin, according to the always reliable internet (that's sarcasm). We only started in 1987. Pretty young, but accepted.

We use the dollar bill a lot though. I think people would rather carry around a wad of one dollar bills than a bunch coins. Plus, the dollar bill is our vending machine money :D
