You're right! You are the only one that can stop yourself. I was learning japanese and said "I can't do this" after about 2 weeks of learning. Then I started again. But this time I had a huge motive. It was to move to Japan. I have told myself I can't do it, but I kept going and now I'm on my second month of learning! I'm not giving up now!
'Preacher Annie' has some really great advice here! ;) If you can see every day as an adventure, and give things a try instead of saying 'I can't' (which I think can be an easy trap to fall into when doing exchange), every day can be really great in Japan, or elsewhere. I know from my own experience doing exchange at Kansai Gaidai that every single day can really be a new experience and adventure; you just have to go after it. Really great and informative video!
@Yovilleaaaa236 anime?no dubs.look up different phrases on internet. look how learn Japanese videos on YouTube..what do you mean how..you have internet..
Annie, Im currently trying to go through with Kansai Gaidai, and could you possibly make a video about going throw the website and some of the requirements? Also, did you choose to live with a host family?
I know Jochi Daigaku (aka Sofia University) which is a high grade private University in Tokyo and has many foreign students. Even they have some lectures done in English, I can't imagine those foreign students can survive without Japanese language skill. How is it in Kansai Gaidai ? I guess as long as it's in Japan, knowing Japanese is necessary while most Japanese professors aren't very fluent in English.
You say learn 1 through 10,000 like that's an easy task... I know you meant for the monetary purposes but the casual way you first said it seemed like knowing how to count from 1 to 10,000 straight up in japanese >.>
Annie, your videos are REALLY good. I mean I've watched a lot of Japanese videos but you offer VERY unique and useful info for us all. Wanted to let you know how good it is :)
Hey annie, love your videos I started watching all of them a month ago and finally caught up lol. I love your explanations since they are so down to earth and how any typical person would say it. I have a question, I know bits and pieces of a lot of Japanese words and I'm aiming to actually chain them into sentences. I know the basic greeting and the different "I"s; any tips on learning them quicker or a good way to start? Random note you're too cute when you get somewhat lost in thought LOL
On my first day of University (in my home town) I got completely lost. But instead of thinking "I'm so lost D:" I thought "I'm exploring! :D" and because of my explorations, I learnt the layout way fast.
@slub77 Don't worry ^.^ The counting system is pretty straightfoward. Once you learn the pattern, you can easily apply it to count to that point and beyond.
@brotherannie 'brotherannie' sounds like wierdo to me ;) I still remember the Japanese foreign exchange student we had in school(Hideyoshi), he was a good friend, my little brother's baby sitter was his host family. He refused to speak english for his first year in public because he thought he would sound funny, and would write notes during school. It has to be hard feeling so alienated in a strange place and everyone treating you as the strange one.
Yes! i have a question: Hi, i'm 16 and live in Argentina and i was thinking of doing an exchange with a university i've chosen because it has an agreement with kansai gaidai because i love japan so i would like to know how was kansai and what are the jobs u can do with english and spanish? answer if u can, thanks!
As an exchange student in Germany right now, I agree with all of this :) And I liked tip #5. I've been feeling sad and like I've wanted to go home recently, and that cheered me up :3 Thanks :)
