lol, if there was a squadron like this, I would hate to be the guy piloting the outdated Valkyries like the VF-1 and 11B. That's like flying a F-4 Phantom in a squadron that has planes like the F-35 and F/A 22s. Seriously, there's no logic (other than fan-appeal) as to why they would fly a VF-1 along with a AVF-19/22. The AVF jets alone could take out capital ships, let alone all the rest of their squadron in the blink of an eye with the right pilots.

They are an elite squadron that uses new and experimental technology before anyone else does. They keep around older models for testing purposes, because if they put a new piece of tech on a VF-1 and it ends up getting destroyed, it's not as big a loss as if they put it on a VF-19 and lost it. Also you can't really compare Valkyries to real-world aircraft. In the hands of the right pilot a VF-1 is still very capable. Miria was kicking ass in Macross 7 in her outdated VF-1.

Point of logic:WHY would you update an outdated plane, even for testing? It would be like putting an advanced stealth system on a F-4 instead of a F/A 22, which could benefit MUCH more than the F-4 could. I'm not comparing VFs to today's aircraft, but using them as a paradigm of old and new. Besides, Miria STILL got her VF-1 trashed, but then when she and Max got VF-22s, & they OWNED everyone else through superior fighters and skills, like Dyson did in the VF-11b, then even more in the YF-19!!

well their a few points. More pilots are use to the old planes and how they work and preform, a superior pilot over a superior weapon can be a big difference in battle....not to mention if you can make a older plane move better and faster it would be a whole lot cheaps and faster than making a new plane.....and usually new planes are built or designed to keep up with the Ace pilots skills(mostly on anime only)...I know I'm not making much sence XD

The song is called "Get Free" performed by Humming Bird (or "Hummingbird"... I'm not sure). There may even be two versions of the song, a regular album version, and a VF-X version. I think the difference between the two is that the VF-X version has some slightly different lyrics.

this game kicks so much ass. not only does the music kick ass, but the story is accepted as official macross cannon. plus you have access to almost every valkyrie in the macross universe with the exception of very few.

its not without its flaws though, but i easily looked past those because i had a blast playing it.

The games Macross VF-X, and VF-X2 were scheduled to be released by Bandai a few years back, as well as a collection of transformable Macross Plus figures. They had ads out for both games, and demos, but they ended up cancelling them when Harmony Gold tried exercising their contract with Tatsunoko on anything that had the Macross label on it. Lead to a huge lawsuit too.
