Her views suck and don't make sense. I would rather be a dumb housewife than a dumb sex toy. Porn is degrading to women, it is all about Satisfying men.
Almost all porn stars think heck I'm good at sex, I'm willing to do stuff if the money is good enough, and that might seem like they are "in control" of their actions but just like men in porn(being a male porn star is harder than people think), porn produces what their customers (mainly men) want to get off to, men want to see the cum shots, they like anal they want hot little "sluts" to be objectified so that is what they get, its supply and demand at work, people like to watch sex.
People are getting their cause and effect mixed up. Pornography in which women are objectified does not cause people in real life to feel justified in objectifying women; it's the other way around. Porn is an industry, and works on a supply and demand basis. If there wasn't a large demand for those types of porn, there would NOT be a large production of it.
That being said, "sexist" porn does not have any real world repercussions. Not only that, but there IS porn in which MEN are objectified.
Her argument is very weak...Women get objectified on TV, so its ok if they are objectified in porn, because porn is not readily available. A) TV commercials showing women cleaning or things of the sort, are byproduct of those companies targeting a specific group, as it is, for commercials showing men working out and buff. Its wrong, but its driven by market. Porn is purely sex, and is centered around the man getting gratification, coming on her face at the end, slapping her, etc.
The whole objective of watching or buying porn hold carnal connotations. So by Donna justify it with women doing dishes is hardly a comparison. She also claims to have other intersests however chose to present this activity. Yes to each thier own. However the essence of porn degrades the sacredness of love between man and woman. Even animals are not showy to this extent. Yes they are exposed but not with intent to be seen as lustful creatures. If its about money then there are other means.
This woman in the video is distorting the issue, to help her justify her behavior. Yes, portraying a woman doing dishes on tv is objectifying her As WELL AS a woman having sex on film.

I agree with what Donna(in the vid) said about the housewife thing. I was in a women's studies course this past semester and a huge topic in this class was "objectification of women". Yep, Jennie Ketcham is indeed saying that in terms of her lifestyle and her addictive personality, moving on from porn was something that she desperately needed to do. But is she saying she didn't enjoy herself when she was Penny Flame? Or that the problems she has are also the problems of other performers? No, she's most definitely not saying that, as the part of the interview I quoted clearly shows.
@iamcuriousblue - The industry is well represented by women that are sex-positive. Sadly they are immediately written off and denigrated as "manipulated victims" by the anti-porn lobby
Personally I find it abhorrent that activists for womens rights can so vehemently label any woman who supports the industry or claims her individual right of personal sexual expression a "liar" whilst still keeping a straight face.
It's true, women are objectified in mainstream media. The problem with porn is not that women shouldn't be able to express their sexuality, but with the type of porn that is considered acceptable. The majority of porn (not all) treats women as subordinate beings to be fucked, not as equal partners in sex.

Wow okay, so our only choices for being potrayed as human beings are between housewives and fuck-objects?
When will women be portrayed as individuals without relation to how they exist to please men? Thats my question.
Yeah, um pornography is objectifying to women and when you tie the images in pornography in with the control agent of an orgasm, it does make one think that objectifying women sexually is a natural and good thing to do.
So because I reject the idea that women are there to be used by men and I embrace the idea that women are individual human beings with their own purpose apart from men means that I am implying that whenever a woman has sex she's being raped?
I fail to see how the two are the same thing at all.
Using the phrase "fuck-objects" means that women couldn't possibly enjoy sex...at least in your opinion. This woman says that she enjoys sex and she enjoys being naked -- it's not just men watching porn anymore, sweetheart. I don't know when the last time you've watched a porno but the ones I see the woman climaxes 2, 3 even 4 times while the man only once.
I'm an antipornography activist, I've seen quite a fair deal of pornography in my life unfortunately. "Fuck Objects" refers to the way women are portrayed, there to be fucked by men. Many women enjoy sex but the women in pornography are ACTING. Faking Lust.
As for women watching porn - yes, women are just as stupid as men and buy into the same stupid shit men do, I fail to see your point.

It might be good if those feminists who throw around the word "objectification" as if it were some sort of trump card would actually come up with a coherent definition of "sexual objectification and perhaps explain why, in their estimation, its necessarily wrong, or under what circumstances it might be wrong? If it is wrong under all circumstances, where does that leave raw physical sexual attraction? Ditto for loaded terms like "fetishization" and "sexualization".

For my part, I see Princess Donna alongside performers like Nina Hartley, Belladonna, Sasha Grey, Joanna Angel, and many others who give very clear, articulate reasons why they choose to perform in porn. I think the testimony of these performers is the clearest argument against the paternalistic and patronizing politics of the anti-porn feminist movement, and its no coincidence that the latter get pissed off to no end whenever such performers open their mouth.
A) many, in fact there are entire fetishes centered around this. The objectification of the woman in porn is more serious and visible since, well, thats the only part they show. Rarely would a porn director show the mans face, or if they do, they have men with very large penises, as to show that the only way you can have sex with a woman and please her (since the female actress is always having an orgasm) is with having a big penis, so obviously, for teenagers that could pose a self worth issue
I agree, men aren't seen as fuck-able objects, they're seen as mindless fucking-drones. Men are nothing but cum dispensers in porn, it's like men is nothing but a penis. You rarely see anything but the lower body, it's just a anonymous penis.
It's not the same objectivity as women, not as easy to see. But it's there.
But can you really deny that (most) porn is made with men in mind? That is, to please men rather than women. The men are usually the active participants; the women are receptive objects. If it's true that you only see a man's lower body (which my research hasn't substantiated) it's only because they're busy focusing on him shoving his dick down someone's throat. Again, I'm not saying that porn doesn't objectify men, just that it objectifies women more
If she thinks porn doesn't objectify women then she thinks low of herself n other women =s No one respects a woman who takes off her clothes on screen.. she's just tryna look for a reason to justify her work n the fact she's a big slut..just sayin
i would say the right reasons would be because you want to, or at least need money and you dont really have a problem with doing it. if woman do it because they feel they are supposed to i think thats wrong.
WANTING to act slutty on screen n get screwed by 100s of men is supposed to be a "good" reason to justify a woman workin in such industry ? I'm sorry I dun get it .. I'm a girl n I see how guys treat other girls of that sort..
If a girl is rich I dun see a reason for her to do this .. n if a girl is hot she has to find a guy who appreciates it ..
n yes ..cuz u've jst proved ur hormones are talkin ..
Not trying to disrespect any1 here.. people have the freedom to do whatever they want but shouldn't justify it if they feel it's right n try to make somethin OK when infact it is not..
n I truely believe that huge amount of money spent on that industry is a waste =(
"If a girl is rich I dun see a reason for her to do this"
If she isn't, it's an exceedingly simple way to get rich.
"n if a girl is hot she has to find a guy who appreciates it"
So, by virtue of her being hot, she has to like men? She cannot be a lesbian, or single?
"n yes.cuz u've jst proved ur hormones are talkin"
You have "proved something with your statements, true, but it's that you have no clue about how the world operates. You think YOUR desires are all that matter.
All of this, wrapped in a facade of "respect women", when, in all actuality that's not what your argument is about.
Respect can be defined as "moving out of a person's way."
You do not respect women, but I bet you want to be respected. Everything that you want to do, you think you should be able to do. You'll even prop your desires up as "moral" or "chaste" in order to make yourself feel superior.
And with the astonishing number of homeless people in America, even owning a pet is a waste.
"WANTING to act slutty on screen n get screwed by 100s of men is supposed to be a "good" reason to justify a woman workin in such industry ?"
Yes it is. If a woman wants to do that but isn't allowed, THAT would be infringing on her rights. It's a perfectly sound reason for working in the porn industry.
As I said .. every1 is free to do whatever they want..I dun have an idea of ur beliefs ..women rights, I totally support that.. but as for morals .. I do find women acting like that wrong which explains my opinion.. just sayin..
if a woman wants to do porn thats her business, maybe you dont see why they would want to do it. you might also not see why some people might want to have super kinky bondage sex but we all know there are lots of people who are into that. so why cant people also be into making porn? if you dont like porn dont watch it. if you dont want to be treated like an object, dont date assholes.
She doesn't make a good point on how pornography is not objectifying women. She begins her argument by admitting that women are objectified in pornography, but not as frequently and in a scale as large as mass-media. She generalizes by solely sharing her experience, giving the impression that all pornography coincides with her experience.
The fact is that pornography is very diverse: some objectify women, while others don't.
It's no so much about the women's aptness to be in porn that Donna speaks of right? Most porn scenarios do objectify woman. I mean, since when was cumming on a woman's face normal practice for sexual arousal for women? No, it's a technique that symbolizes how a woman is essentially a cumdumpster and nothing more. These deviations are a too popular to think that women are not objectified. I find her argument be missing the point entirely.
No, I agree with your statement. I just didn't touch upon that in my comment. I don't think that male objectification in porn negates the fact that women are objectified.
can you really disagree, however, that women are more objectified in the porn industry? Most often these 'cum dispensers' are dispensing their cum all over someone's face...makes the woman seem a tad more object-like
@KO1407 ...what part of "these deviations are too popular" did you not understand? There are countless types of porn, but it is clear that the objectifying ones are more commonly watched.
@KO1407 I didn't generalize. I said most porn objectifies woman. Now that could mean most porn genres objectify women or most porn watched by people objectify women. I meant the latter.
@KO1407 Pornography involves the transformation of every physical feature a woman has into an object separate from her personality. This is by nature of porn. Now I can't vouch for lesbian videos because there are to many opinions that can be extracted, but even anal sex is very bias towards the male. Not to mention the all-to-common ejaculating over her body finish that probably ends those videos. I'll state my point one more; most porn objectifies women as cumdumpsters.
@pt2091 wat im saying is porn is meant for entertainment of the veiwer (to become aroused and masturbate) so of course the girls personality is not going to be the big topic because thats not what ur there to see and its not like its all about the guy cause often his face is not shown
and u cant say porn in general is objectifing because theres some porn where the girl doesnt even have sex or get naked
and just cause one more popular then the other doesnt mean it doesnt exist
@KO1407 I can't form a clearer argument then what I previously posted. Since when has ejaculating over a women been standard sexual practice? It is rarer to see a video NOT have a type of scene like that. I agree that porn is entertainment, and I agree that I am generalizing, but frankly, I find it very obvious that most porn objectifies women, to such a significant degree that every slight nuance of porn is completely negligible.
@pt2091 Is a woman still being objectified if that is what she enjoys? I am a lesbian and I personally find facials gross, but if a woman enjoys being dominated, which what the 'facial' essentially symbolizes, why not let her enjoy it?
I apologize for being crude, but I enjoy my girlfriend to 'squirt' into my face when she orgasms for the same reasons, how is that any different?

Google "The Perky Feminist" to find my blog in which I have an essay on this very subject.
@pt2091 Alot of things we don't think are normal people were doing a long time ago. Anyways it's the womans fault for letting herself be "degraded". Furthermore, some people find it sexually arousing to be degraded to an extent. I love it when my girl calls me her bitch and makes me lick her ass to symbolize how low I am. She loves it, I love it. Is that so wrong? Maybee sick to you, but is it wrong? No.
I agree with the housewife arguement. Still, noone can tell me that women enjoy getting cumshots in their eyes, doing scat porn, being gagged till they puke, or getting venereal diseases from having unprotected sex with too many guys. Of course it's their decision what they do, but I think there is quite a bit of coercion going on as well, or that you just don't get any more jobs after a while, if you don't do the "kinkier stuff".
@bertolt81 Actually the women in porn can choose what their limits are, if getting cumshot in the eye is to much for them they can just stop the whole thing, and some women are into the whole scat thing, like I said before if they are uncomfortable with scat they can choose not to do it. Also in most porns it is required for you to get tested for everything before you can do your thing.
Well, as I said, it would definitely be against laws if they chose not to and were forced to do so. Still I think that oftentimes, women are being coerced into doing things they would otherwise not do. Like, by threatening that they won't get another job anytime soon, or their agent talking them into things. And I think in many cases money plays a huge role, and the wages for different types range from 100$-1500$ afaik. So this means, that if you got into the whole thing, because you needed...
the money, of course there is a strong incentive for you to do things you would normally not do. If you need a lot of money quickly, and this is your way to earn it, you basically don't have a lot of options then.
Also the surroundings of course lead you to spend more money than you normally would, so the pressure is increased. This is of course all legal, still there is some pressure, and you won't convince me that everyone doing scat or 100-people gangbangs actually enjoys it.
Also, regarding VD, of course there are strict rules on the testing. Still there is a higher prevalence of the diseases in porn stars than in the general populace. And seeing that for some the incubation period is pretty long (e.g. HIV can only be proven 6-12 weeks after contagion), by the rate they're popping out new movies, I don't believe that they usually wait the time between two movies, that would be necessary to actually be 100% safe.

Re: Doing the "kinkier stuff"
What you fail to understand is that women like Princess Donna and other BDSM performers are often real-life BDSM players or pro-dommes who specialize in BDSM work. They do it as a specialty, not because they got into porn and were somehow pressured into BDSM.
Also, how do you explain women who go through their entire careers without doing harder porn? Softcore models, girl/girl performers, and the like.
Well, you probably won't deny that both cases exist, and all I'm saying is that the industry puts up a strong incentive to go over your limits. There are quite a few interviews that have convinced me that not all's good in that business, and it's funny that you bring up the Sasha Grey interviews, cause this is what got me into thinking about it at first. To me, she totally seems dead inside, when she's talking about it, that it's "just her body". This is behaviour I would usually see as
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
So its up to people like you to judge the state of Sasha Grey's soul and say porn is wrong based on this? That strikes me as incredibly paternalistic.
At what point to does one say, "this person's values are all wrong, therefore, their consent and agency aren't valid"? And what does this say about the anti-porn movement. After all, that seems to contain more than a few people (including many YT antiporn folks) who are motivated by trauma and by unhealthy, negative attitudes toward sex.

(continued)
Regarding Sasha Grey, it seems to me, based on what I know about her, that she was somebody who sought out the most extreme porn she could perform in as a kind of personal challenge. And I'm not going to second-guess her reasons for doing so.
If porn critics are going to offer *valid* criticisms of women being coerced into extreme and degrading acts, they need to offer a better argument then, "Women like Sasha Grey and Belladonna are fucked up anyway".
@bertolt81 If you go to the website "Behind Kink," they show you the precautions the production company takes to keep their models safe. Porn stars nowadays are actually less likely to get VD than you or I because of how often they get tested, and everyone is tested thoroughly before they work with anyone else. Their toys and equipment are also sterilized before each shoot.
@bertolt81 On the site, you will also see how many of the models are actually into kink in their personal lives, such as Princess Donna. There is no need for coercion whatsoever; there are plenty of people eager to get paid for what they love.
PS: I believe it is illegal in the US to film "scat porn".

Are you implying that that is what I am implying?
nuclearnight 2 years ago
That's what it sounded like to me.
ooMONKEYoo 2 years ago
@ooMONKEYoo
So because I reject the idea that women are there to be used by men and I embrace the idea that women are individual human beings with their own purpose apart from men means that I am implying that whenever a woman has sex she's being raped?
I fail to see how the two are the same thing at all.
nuclearnight 2 years ago 3
Using the phrase "fuck-objects" means that women couldn't possibly enjoy sex...at least in your opinion. This woman says that she enjoys sex and she enjoys being naked -- it's not just men watching porn anymore, sweetheart. I don't know when the last time you've watched a porno but the ones I see the woman climaxes 2, 3 even 4 times while the man only once.
ooMONKEYoo 2 years ago
@ooMONKEYoo

Ranact 2 years ago

Alakadabra 2 years ago
In what way does it objectify men just as much as women? How often do you see vids where 5 women are treating a man like a fuck-able object?
TickyRoot 2 years ago
A) many, in fact there are entire fetishes centered around this. The objectification of the woman in porn is more serious and visible since, well, thats the only part they show. Rarely would a porn director show the mans face, or if they do, they have men with very large penises, as to show that the only way you can have sex with a woman and please her (since the female actress is always having an orgasm) is with having a big penis, so obviously, for teenagers that could pose a self worth issue
MasrawyPasha 2 years ago
I agree, men aren't seen as fuck-able objects, they're seen as mindless fucking-drones. Men are nothing but cum dispensers in porn, it's like men is nothing but a penis. You rarely see anything but the lower body, it's just a anonymous penis.
It's not the same objectivity as women, not as easy to see. But it's there.
Ranact 2 years ago
But can you really deny that (most) porn is made with men in mind? That is, to please men rather than women. The men are usually the active participants; the women are receptive objects. If it's true that you only see a man's lower body (which my research hasn't substantiated) it's only because they're busy focusing on him shoving his dick down someone's throat. Again, I'm not saying that porn doesn't objectify men, just that it objectifies women more

She doesn't make a good point on how pornography is not objectifying women. She begins her argument by admitting that women are objectified in pornography, but not as frequently and in a scale as large as mass-media. She generalizes by solely sharing her experience, giving the impression that all pornography coincides with her experience.
The fact is that pornography is very diverse: some objectify women, while others don't.
xcandix 2 years ago 4
It's no so much about the women's aptness to be in porn that Donna speaks of right? Most porn scenarios do objectify woman. I mean, since when was cumming on a woman's face normal practice for sexual arousal for women? No, it's a technique that symbolizes how a woman is essentially a cumdumpster and nothing more. These deviations are a too popular to think that women are not objectified. I find her argument be missing the point entirely.
pt2091 2 years ago 12
And it symbolizes that men are essentially cum dispensers.
I'm not so sure you've fully thought through your point of view.
I think you should try viewing things from different perspectives.
Denamic 2 years ago
No, I agree with your statement. I just didn't touch upon that in my comment. I don't think that male objectification in porn negates the fact that women are objectified.
pt2091 2 years ago 2
can you really disagree, however, that women are more objectified in the porn industry? Most often these 'cum dispensers' are dispensing their cum all over someone's face...makes the woman seem a tad more object-like
TickyRoot 2 years ago 4
How does this objectification then reflect on the real world?
That would be the people that watch porn and believes that's how you treat people, right?
How could you blame porn, then, based on how those retards act?
If you do, then going by that logic, you could just as easily cast blame TV, radio, and even books.
By extension, even speech.
I understand why you'd be upset by it, but some fights aren't worth, or even shouldn't, be fought.

pt2091 1 year ago
@pt2091 so just because one type is more popular then the other that means its ok to generalize all of it
thats like saying because red is more popular then brown brown isnt a color
KO1407 1 year ago
@KO1407 I didn't generalize. I said most porn objectifies woman. Now that could mean most porn genres objectify women or most porn watched by people objectify women. I meant the latter.

KO1407 1 year ago
@KO1407 Pornography involves the transformation of every physical feature a woman has into an object separate from her personality. This is by nature of porn. Now I can't vouch for lesbian videos because there are to many opinions that can be extracted, but even anal sex is very bias towards the male. Not to mention the all-to-common ejaculating over her body finish that probably ends those videos. I'll state my point one more; most porn objectifies women as cumdumpsters.
pt2091 1 year ago
@pt2091 wat im saying is porn is meant for entertainment of the veiwer (to become aroused and masturbate) so of course the girls personality is not going to be the big topic because thats not what ur there to see and its not like its all about the guy cause often his face is not shown
and u cant say porn in general is objectifing because theres some porn where the girl doesnt even have sex or get naked
and just cause one more popular then the other doesnt mean it doesnt exist
WAKE THE FUCK UP
KO1407 1 year ago
@KO1407 I can't form a clearer argument then what I previously posted. Since when has ejaculating over a women been standard sexual practice? It is rarer to see a video NOT have a type of scene like that. I agree that porn is entertainment, and I agree that I am generalizing, but frankly, I find it very obvious that most porn objectifies women, to such a significant degree that every slight nuance of porn is completely negligible.
In other words, you haven't convicted me.

@pt2091 Alot of things we don't think are normal people were doing a long time ago. Anyways it's the womans fault for letting herself be "degraded". Furthermore, some people find it sexually arousing to be degraded to an extent. I love it when my girl calls me her bitch and makes me lick her ass to symbolize how low I am. She loves it, I love it. I agree with the housewife arguement. Still, noone can tell me that women enjoy getting cumshots in their eyes, doing scat porn, being gagged till they puke, or getting venereal diseases from having unprotected sex with too many guys. Of course it's their decision what they do, but I think there is quite a bit of coercion going on as well, or that you just don't get any more jobs after a while, if you don't do the "kinkier stuff".
bertolt81 2 years ago 9
@bertolt81 Actually the women in porn can choose what their limits are, if getting cumshot in the eye is to much for them they can just stop the whole thing, and some women are into the whole scat thing, like I said before if they are uncomfortable with scat they can choose not to do it. Also in most porns it is required for you to get tested for everything before you can do your thing.
snakepit000 2 years ago 2
Well, as I said, it would definitely be against laws if they chose not to and were forced to do so. Still I think that oftentimes, women are being coerced into doing things they would otherwise not do. Like, by threatening that they won't get another job anytime soon, or their agent talking them into things. And I think in many cases money plays a huge role, and the wages for different types range from 100$-1500$ afaik. So this means, that if you got into the whole thing, because you needed...
bertolt81 2 years ago 3
the money, of course there is a strong incentive for you to do things you would normally not do. If you need a lot of money quickly, and this is your way to earn it, you basically don't have a lot of options then.
Also the surroundings of course lead you to spend more money than you normally would, so the pressure is increased. This is of course all legal, still there is some pressure, and you won't convince me that everyone doing scat or 100-people gangbangs actually enjoys it.
bertolt81 2 years ago 5

Softcore models, girl/girl performers, and the like.
iamcuriousblue 2 years ago
Well, you probably won't deny that both cases exist, and all I'm saying is that the industry puts up a strong incentive to go over your limits. There are quite a few interviews that have convinced me that not all's good in that business, and it's funny that you bring up the Sasha Grey interviews, cause this is what got me into thinking about it at first. To me, she totally seems dead inside, when she's talking about it, that it's "just her body". This is behaviour I would usually see as

Regarding Sasha Grey, it seems to me, based on what I know about her, that she was somebody who sought out the most extreme porn she could perform in as a kind of personal challenge. And I'm not going to second-guess her reasons for doing so.
If porn critics are going to offer *valid* criticisms of women being coerced into extreme and degrading acts, they need to offer a better argument then, "Women like Sasha Grey and Belladonna are fucked up anyway".
iamcuriousblue 2 years ago

KO1407 1 year ago
@bertolt81 If you go to the website "Behind Kink," they show you the precautions the production company takes to keep their models safe. Porn stars nowadays are actually less likely to get VD than you or I because of how often they get tested, and everyone is tested thoroughly before they work with anyone else. Their toys and equipment are also sterilized before each shoot.
MsLeftyLibra 1 year ago
@bertolt81 On the site, you will also see how many of the models are actually into kink in their personal lives, such as Princess Donna. There is no need for coercion whatsoever; there are plenty of people eager to get paid for what they love.
