i had an older one with a 60 on it. the boat was awsome i wish i didn't sell it. as for turning they stick to the water and don't slide kinda like a go kart.
Hello all! The boat is not a 1977 as my father stopped producing Humber Boats in about 1975, including The Jewel. And yes, it's not the sort of boat you want to turn real hard at full speed, I've bounced mine sideways a couple of times but never flipped it, despite my best efforts. One of my main competitors in the small boat field is a 13' Boston Whaler. No, you can't sink them but you sure can flip them without too much trouble!
I'd also recomend mercury motors over Johnson/evinrude. I had a 50HP johnson on mine at first and it would barely plane out. Threw my 50 HP mercury on it and now it really holds its own. I make guys who have paid 15- 20 thousand dollars on their boats look stupid
just the shape of the hull...in a straight line they are dead fast...but when going along slow they dont track straight...tend to veer off...wicked boats tho love mine
i see i see well i mean theres not much i guess you could do i was thinkin maybe a small keel? or even you could pick up some fins like the ones ther use in apba on the pickle fork hydros and put them on either the front of each wing or at the back in the transom and that should help out a bit. but if mine like that i think i may. another thing that might work is trim it up!! get some bow lift and that wat the front of the wings cant do much but no idel for rough water :p Thanks, Jake
I have one and it flies! i have 1972 model with a 1985 mercury 50 HP. Be careful turning thouhg. The hull shape doesnt like going sideways. Othere than that have fun bro those things turn heads no matter where you go
