Hmm, seems I've heard thos before Snowchild. I remember writing an instrumental piano tune called.... Countryman Stomp. When the album Street Rats was relelased my tune suddenly appeared with two co writers. When I questioned it I was told that was how it worked when you got a tune recorded. Pots, kettles and calling black come to mind.
To say I'm astonished by tim hinkley's claim to be co-writer of this song would be putting it mildly! The song began as an acoustic instrumental piece that I was playing while sitting on Steve's patio during a vacation in Nassau in early 1974. Steve liked it and started working on a lyric, and before long "Hambone" was finished, in exactly the form that we later recorded it - the guitar part I'm playing on the track is exactly what I played that day. So precisely which part did you write, tim?!!
I co wrote this song with Steve and Greg. I also co produced these sessions. Steve loved this set of recordings cos he had nobody telling him he had to make another Humble Pie album like the last one. Actually Steve played drums on this track. Tim Hinkley
Skinny lookin bitch and you keep on following me.. ..I bet you got a brother that .that stands about 6 ft 3. Chorus You better leave my Hambone alone. You're standing there with the rollers in your hair and your washin woman knees I know what you want..... I know what I got.....But sure ain't what you need it!!! Chorus you better leave my Hambone alone ... I gotta keep on runnin rollin like a rollin stone....y.ou better leave my hambone alone...listen to me now.....
