DjCINEMA--It is using allegory, using what might be called a parallel story, to tell the Gospel. Aslan is Jesus (Jesus died for humanity, Aslan died for Narnia and, most specifically, for Edmund), the Father is the Emperor over the Sea, and as the stories unfold, you'll find references to the Holy Spirit in there, too (The Voyage of the Dawn Treader). They are both stories about redemption, how God might reveal Himself in a different world, that sort of thing.
I don't know if anyone else has said this yet but I found it interesting at 0:26 where they are all infront of the word STRAND. The funny thing is that Strand is German for Beach and that's where they go first when they enter Narnia.
from the preview I can already see things they made up that aren't in the book. Great. Like the fact that Susan and all of them meet Prince Caspian together. They all don't meet until the battle's won! Also, there is nothing in the book about riding eagles. I am still really excited for this movie, its just that I wish they could hold more to the book. But thats Hollywood for ya.
i know what u mean, but critics always judge harshly, so film makers need to make the movie as impressive as possible, which includes adding digital figures, explosions, etc.
i have the book prince caspian and i cant remember if the witch is in there or not. i was pretty sure she was killed in the first one, but i saw her trapped in ice on this movie trailer. so...unless she somehow survived Aslan, she shouldn't be in this movie.
grimreaper123457-That's just the point, dear. Without Aslan and his connection to Jesus, the story is only a story. As it is, it is a wonderful way of teaching about God, to see the Gospel with fresh eyes. That IS what makes the book so special.
Aslan is like God. he's pure, radiant and respectful to others, just like God. the author, C.S. Lewis probably intended Aslan to be the animal form of God or something.
this is how you do fantasy right, magical talking lion gods and gryphons and styrs oh my! All of the narnia books are being made into film and alongside the lord of the rings will rule them all bwahaha! The golden compass was meh...
they probably will, as long as the kids don't get to old or just don't want to do it anymore. take harry potter for example, originally, they were not going to make a 6th or 7th movie because Emma wanted to do something else, but everything changed and the 6th movie is being made right now. It could go the same way for the narnia movies. these are what fantasy is about. pure classic. (that's just my opinion though).
Loved the trailer! I about fell out of my seat when I realized that it was finally playing. You can see it if you go to see National Treasure. (BTW that movie was awesome also!) I can't wait for this movie to be released!!!!
ITS NOT COMING OUT TILL MAY 2008. I THINK IT'S DUE TO THE SCPIPT WRITERS STRIKE GOING ON IN.Power can be used in many ways it's how they use that power to make things beter for peopl. Narnia is a world that is so diffrent that it makes you realise the diffrance between reality and imagination. C,S, Lewis wrote the best books ever and he never knew how much these books would make an impact on people it relates to everyone.HE DIED BEFORE HE COULD EVEN SEE HOW HIS BOOKS AFFECTED PEOPLE
EVERYONE! SHUT-UP! This is a MOVIE! Based on a book, that is for PURE ENTERTAINMENT. Leave it alone, put some things aside and listen beacause THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FICTION! watch for entertainment please
Hate that fucking susan. So godamn ugly. Seriously, did the director go blind when he was choosing casts? How the hell did he pick that fugly noob? Who disagrees? Who is actually stupid and sick enough to say she is hot? Susan is supposed to be pretty in the series, yet, shes the ugliest ho ever in these movies.
Uhhhh DUDE! These are suppose to be children who are the main characters of the story!!! What do u expect them to do? Hire a hot 13 year old girl to make u wanna watch this!?!?! what the heck is wrong with U?? Do u like expect them to have Angelia Joe Lee play Susan instead so u can get a hard on watching a movie of a children's story? serious dude, get a grip...
okay...take a chill. its not one of those childish arguments you probably have everyday.
You got my point totally wrong. Pervert? The pervert here is you-you interpreted that way. Read my comment again, you prick. Does it in anyway sound like me lusting for hot girls? Unless real perverts like you read it?
well...I'm so sorry that the actress playing Susan ruined ure appreciation of this great story...jeez
and fyi, I am not a pervert, I just can't understand how a slight dislike in the casting makes it so hard to enjoy the movie...I thought the casting was excellent, I thought Susan was not as brave as I pictured in the movie, but I wasn't like "omg she's ugly"...
and ure the one who called her a "fugly noob...ugliest ho", so whose needs the chill pill? jeez...u don't like the casting, then make ure own movie, everyone else enjoys this one!
I don't remember C.S Lewis ever commenting on how "pretty" the characters in the book were.
And i think Susan is very pretty, in fact. So shut the hell up and stop complaining about how ugly the cast members are, that's not the reason they made the movie prick
eeek!!!! how great!!! (and wow they chose a really good looking guy to be caspian...huge upgrade from BBC version, although it's kinda overwhelming...) so excited for this movie!! so excited andrew adamson is still directing!
Wow! Portica912 and Oyo321 seem to be having a great conversation!!! It's very interesting to read! I still don't quite get the books, can some1 explain to me, does Susan like end up going to hell or something? Or does she come to Aslan's lant later on, after the books? I don't know why Lewis put that into the story. I think it kind of ruins it. What does every1 else think?
It is left up to the reader to decide what happens to Susan. She doesn't go to Narnia with the others at that time, but that doesn't mean she will never "repent" and go eventually. It could go either way with her. There have been arguments for both ways but Lewis never gave the answer.
OMG !!! i cant beieve pullman said that of Narnia im gonna burn al his books i actually was a fan of the golden compass know i hate him and the stupid books !!!
his such a dork !!!
and i think Lewis did a fantastic job writting a book where he tells what the believes in!! i love Narnia !!!!
Narnian fans have you notice one thing. In LWW edmunds scar on his lips diapers and comes back. it's in the scene when Aslan has died and Edmund tells William "there is an army out ther and it is ready to follow you.
It seems the director is focousing on effects and battle scenes more than the fun childrens story of the last movie... I personally prefer it. Lord of da rings rules more tho!!!!!!
Yeah sure Lewis put his beliefs into his books and guess what, they're still awesome. If you're going to go on about a story being allegorical, get over yourself because everyone's always going to find something offensive in some way. If you're that concerned, go write your own book. Seriously. You can't please the whole world. If you think the books/ movies suck you shouldn't even be wasting your time telling people who want to see this movie. I mean..that's kinda dumb:)
Now that you mention it, harry potter has LOTs of Christian allusions, including two verses of the Bible in the final book "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" & "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death"...the theme of sacrifice and the power of love...so yay!
It's not perfect, but it is heavily infulenced with Christian values when it comes to morality and choices. I don't think Rowling is christian. And even though she claims Dumbledore is gay, there is no coherent indication within the context of the books, even if the author claims so (it's like if the author claimed that harry potter is actually originated from outer-space, but that claim in itself is not consistent with the works). Let the work be judged by itself.
yeah, Pullman himself said that his agenda was to "kill God" from the children books and that to him Narnia was "disgusting". Definately, the enemy is the 'Magistery' that enslaves the world and is intended to represent the Church; even though in Christianity it ceaces to be the real deal when a "church" is corrupted by men anyways. You simply can't commit, say, murder and say the Bible 'made me do it' because it commands enphatically NOT to.
I'll be counting down the days until May 16th!!! I just hope they (Disney and Walden Media) continue through the series to make my favorite chronicle, The Silver Chair, into a movie as well.
You have not read the books, then you should stop commenting. By this book, the war that was happening during the first movie is over, and the war between Narnia and the Telmarines is decided by a single showdown between Peter Pevensie and King Miraz.
Close your eyes and count to 60, open and say the name of the person you want to be with forever... Say his or her name 10 times then say yours 3 times... This up coming Friday your dream guy or girl will come up to you or call you or tell you when to call him or her and say 'I want to be with you forever...' It works, trust me... Post this in 5 videos or this will never xhappen... ?!?!?
wow. movie looks so epic, I think it will be a great adaptation. the only thing I don't like is the change of the boy Caspian for a good looking young man, I think thus is a way only to bring more feminine audience
i have added this to bebo now and was surprised i was the first, i love the films they have in my opinion been the only films to hold a torch to the books they were based on. this one looks like it will be amazing. i have no doubt i want to see it soon as it hits the cinema, oh final point the music to these films the first and now this second is spectacular also. best soundtracks i have heard in a long time.
as an afterthought i would also like to say that i am disappointed they have left the magicians nephew still unscripted for a film, but who knows they might make there way to it someday.
The problem was that when you say to people 'Narnia' then the first book that comes to their mind is tLtWatW. If they didn't start with the most known book then it might of not had the same impact.
I loved the tv mini series-especially The Dawn Treader-and I really liked the Caspian in those series but I think this one will surpass the Prince Caspian miniseries by far, though Voyage of the Dawn Treader will probably be the best of them all!
Lewis is indeed on of the greatest authors of all time. He took profound truths and made them understandable to all through his novels, a mark of true genius.
The first CON was almost exactly true to the book, and by all means I hope PC will be true too.
Personally, I am a Christian and love how he uses symbolism to allude to certain things. And the beautiful simplicity with which he does it is amazing.
ARE U SERIOUS! it got pushed back due to the golden compass..which also looks good! :) BUT THIS MOVIE series is gonna be the next lotr type thing....am i wrong?
Well yes Golden Compass was written by a non-Christian and it is an anti Christian book and movie. The authors of Lord of the Rings and Narnia are Christian.
I hope they dont fuck it up like most sequels do. The first movie was very good and true to the novel.
I always wondered why no one ever made a movie on the Redwall series. Im still a fan of those mice, and only Lewis and Tolkien's books have been adapted into films.
Lewis was a religious guy. Its the only thing I hate about his books-Im agnostic, and I was thoroughly disgusted with his depiction of "christianity" and "muslim" in his last book.
If read his descriptions of the society at that time and before he became a Christian, there wasn't much bias for Christianty. In fact, there was much more bias AGAINST Christianity.
He did write Narnia after he became Christian though, so the "before he became Christian" part is moot. And when I said "influenced bias" it wasn't AGAINST Muslims per se; it's just that he saw them differently. Lewis probably didn't mean to imply that Christians are better than Muslims or anything along that line. It does seem like he has a certain stereotype though.
Youre wrong there. Lewis certainly tried to degrade what seems analogous to Muslim/Islam, tash, and uphold what seems analogous to Christianity with Aslan as God. There is no denying in that Lewis's books were made so. Read his last book. Completely makes the "brownies" look bad. I hated it.
Well, one of the supposed "brownies" villains turned to be one of the great heroes of the series. It's simply trying to convey mob mentality, how it can blind and corrupt. Remember the White witch? She's the ultimate white supremacist, pretty much mirrors the nazi 'aryan' evil.
Yeah, well, youre stupid. White witch = white supremacist? lol
So tell me-did the white witch go around fucking killing everyone that wasnt white? ur so stupid
Even if Narnia was not intended to be biased, although it definitely is to me, Narnia is still a mirror of heaven, as well as God (Aslan). Thats whats wrong with the book.
No...the White witch is a further extension from the nazi pride. She takes it a step further. If it were convenient to her, she would kill or oppress everyone whom she considers below herself (and because Pride blinds, that would be everybody). Since she's the only witch (her race), they are all below her.
But it makes sense that after overcoming certain bias to get to the truth (he was very much against christians and religious people) it is unlikely that he would hold a blinded-sighted bias of someone 'born' with the beliefs, so it is relevant. I don't see the connection of tash w/muslims,???
I think the reason why people see a connection between tash and muslims is because of the customs and the dress, as well as the fact that they live south-ish. And he may have overcome his bias against Christians and religious people, but maybe not the bias against arabic/muslim people. He did live in England (not meaning that English people have a bias against muslims or anything, please don't get me wrong--but it's predominantly Christian and far from the arabic region)
I think they may look arabic, but it's far from alluding they're muslims, as Lewis was familiar with their basic beliefs. The Carlomen were more pagan, with blood sacrifices as opposed to muslims who do not. They were also more than happy to comply with the term 'taslan' to serve their own agendas, so weren't exactly as reverential to their god..to muslims that's huge blasphemy.
Its true-Lewis was a dick who tried to convey how great Christians were with his best-selling book.
What do you think Aslan stands for? A symbolic lion character? No, he is GOD. What about Narnia? What do you think that is? Its fucking HEAVEN. What happens at the end of the last book? All the characters die in some lame ass train accident yet the continue their lives in Narnia, a heaven.
Although there were some great 'christian' characters, there were a lot of 'christian' characters with pretty glaring faults (eg. Edmund, etc.) Christianity deals with characters learning to do better and forgiveness, not standing on a pedestal flashing their superiority. Ultimately it is Aslan who wins the battle and supports the characters.
Narnia was not Heaven. Like all fallen worlds, it was destroyed and a new, far better eternal world is created. Death is not the end.
Narnia is heaven. Ive read critics' articles before, and they have the same thought as me. The children die from a train accident-where do they end up afterlife? Narnia. Who rules them? Aslan. Where do most devout Christian belive the go when they die (like Lewis)? Heaven aka Narnia.
"New Narnia"(is the eternal Heaven) that is, the old Narnia (the supposed temporal Earth) was destroyed. Well you're right, Aslan represents God. "Death is not the end"; it's a simple statement, take or leave it. If you feel the need to make it sound ludicrous or suggest any dramatic intentions, that's your prerogative, not mine. I would prefer you approach the statement like a scholar would. Soft pedaling itis far from examining the veracity of the claim.
dude thats a lie, i think if you are a good person and do what Christ would like you to do, you are welcome to heaven, however, it is even better if you do that and join christianity, but thats just me
Jesus said, "I am The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one gets to the Father except by Me."
Anyway, Christ would like you to come to Him over everything else, so to that extent I agree with you. But I wouldn't trust my best works or greatest deeds to nullify my sinfulness in the eyes of a Holy God. Also, know that Christianity is not like a club to join but rather a relationship to have with God Himself through Jesus Christ.
"join christianity or you go to hell. join it or you die. you have to be 'saved' to go to heaven"
oh my god. bullshit.
Why are religious people all like that? They devote their entire life to someone who we dont even know exists, something that could be fake. "Oh, now youre goin to hell for sayin that noob" is the responses im gonna get now. RELIGION IS NOT EVERYTHING.
If by 'religion' you mean that Christianity is not everything, then you're wrong. Christianity makes very specific claims. By logic, we arrive at only two possibilities:
Either Christianity is True and is Everything; or Christianity is false and nothing. Go into this without bias, question hard...gather the evidences if you must, but consider hard as both claims have great implications.
Christianity means that you're rescued by a greater power than yourself from hell. If you don't want to be rescued, of course you'll eventually drift to (your demise) hell. And if you don't realize you are in danger or have a disease you won't want to be rescued or cured, but you'll be getting closer to death in your denial.
Christianity is not just a club you join, it's new relationship with God and a new journey. The Bible is very exlicit and specific in its claim. Either it is the biggest hoax or it is true. There is no middle ground. But if you are genuine in seeking the Truth, ultimately you'd arrived at these two choices.
Either Chrsitianity is true or the biggest hoax. Those are the two possibilities. Logic dictates that both cannot be true (it would abolish the law of non-contradiction, so relativism is ruled out). However you look at it, Christianity isn't just one of many religions. Either it's true or it's not. It's uniquely different and has very specific claims.
God doesn't send people to hell. They choose it on their own accord. Even though we all sinned and deserve to be in hell (which is eternal separation from God and all the horrors that come with it) God loves us too much to bear seeing us going to hell, so He came into human flesh to die and atone for our sins (even though He never sinned and is innocent) so that if we choose to receive His free gift, we wouldn't suffer the consequences of our sins.
The King and Creator of Life and the galaxies humbled Himself to die for you. The worst thing you can do to God is to reject His love and choose to go to hell, His pain is beyond what we can imagine. Yet He respects you enough to allow you to make the choice.
Even though it is more bearable for those who reject God to eternally be in hell than be force to be eternally w/God, the torments of hell was not intended for humans; it was intended for demons (fallen angels) and a terrible place of punishment. Demons will do whatever it takes to get you to suffer w/them eternally because you are loved by God, and created in the image of God, and for that they hate you.
God doesn't want that; He'd rather die and defeat death than have you go to hell. You don't 'join Christianity' and be subjected to the rules of other self-appointed 'christianity', you are free and have only God to answer to. Don't look at pseudo-christianity corrupted by men, but look to the real deal.
What you sad doesnt make sense. Train accidents arent political? wtf? and thats funny to u?
Never said heaven was bad. What I said was Lewis's use of religious connotations in children's book isnt favorable and reader-unfriendly, especially when he downplays other religions viewed by the Christian world as inferior.
You obviously haven't read all the books. In the Last Battle, Narnia is destroyed and all those who follow Aslan go into a different world, a better Narnia. From that Narnia, you see other "better" worlds, including a better earth. If anything is supposed to be heaven, it is that place. The Christian heaven has no war, no betrayal and is all good and anyone can be part of it if they believe and follow the one who created it. Narnia is not heaven.
Even if what you say is true, you cant deny that Aslan is analogous to God, and the Tash are analogous to Muslim/Islam. Its stupid. Aslan and his "resurrection" and all the stupid kids dying and going to Narnia.
tash isnt muslim/islam, he is just random choice no. 2 and of course Aslan is "God". The books were written to introduce people to god so there has to be a god in them, retard!
Why dont you shut the fuck up, you little prick? Thats what Im talking about-Aslan is God, and suddenly a little asshole like you comes from nowhere and calls someone a retard. Grow up.
the agnostic is not sure of Deity but does not deny the possibility, the true agnostic is more sensible than that (only the simplistic atheism denies even the possibility). How can you then, as an agnostic, make dogmatic claims when you're not sure in the first place. There's the possibility of it being true, or has that gone out of the window.
I can see you are very knowledgeable in Christianity and its ideals. I can also see you are very heavily influenced by it, and your rush to its defense shows your great faith in the religion.
Good for you. Faith and pride are the best things ever to have.
Just dont let it get the better of you. Religion is not everything. Im sorry that my opinons were too strong.
On the contrary, your genuine/unbiased opinions are welcome. We're not even miles on the topic of faith. I was in fact reasoning with you, using Logic to make a case founded on Reason. Logic and reason are one of Christianity greatest assets (except perhaps revelation). On my background, I was one of the biggest skeptics of christianity and religion in general until I examined the evidence. It was overwhelmingly by far for Christianity
Consider the argument, think and question hard if you are interested in finding the Truth. Yes I am biased in a sense...for the Truth. I am biased againtst falseness, superstitions, blind-beliefs w/out foundations, non-truths. It is not pride on the faith that I rush for defense, in fact Pride is the greatest sin (the vehicle for all other sins, but I take you meant 'Human Dignity').
I want to tell the Truth as it is, with clear reasoning, and expose the fraud of the glaring errors + prejudice in bureocratic atheistic society indoctrination (who do indeed encourage blind-faith in subtles and not so subtle ways, provided you don't challenge their status quo). Break out of convention if you must when you arrive at the truth. Those in power dictate the direction of the game.
ojmmcat, nice bringing religion into this. so what if the guy who wrote it was christian, doesnt mean it'll change kids into christians. im an atheist and that was fuckin offensive. i love these movies and that is deffinetly not there point, to convert kids
Well said. Lewis himself intended it to be a good story by itself. The Christian allegories are still there for whoever wants to ponder upon them freely. Lewis was masterful at conveying strong issues of the natures of the world and humanity with simplicity and duality (twofold purpose, exploring christian values and a good story). His books actually makes ppl think, opens questions for discussion...and at the same time jolly good entertainment.
No one has any idea how excited I am for this. Looks even better than LWW. I've already watched this trailer about 8 times, but since its on Youtube now, I'll watch it some more!
oooo! Somebody better inform that athiest Phil Pullman (The Golden Compuss) guy that there's another *Narnia* movie coming out!! oooo!! It'll turn all the children into CHRISTIANS!! oooo!!!!

Oyo321 4 years ago
Uhhhh DUDE! These are suppose to be children who are the main characters of the story!!! What do u expect them to do? Hire a hot 13 year old girl to make u wanna watch this!?!?! what the heck is wrong with U?? Do u like expect them to have Angelia Joe Lee play Susan instead so u can get a hard on watching a movie of a children's story? serious dude, get a grip...
rockndude87 4 years ago
okay...take a chill. its not one of those childish arguments you probably have everyday.
You got my point totally wrong. Pervert? The pervert here is you-you interpreted that way. Read my comment again, you prick. Does it in anyway sound like me lusting for hot girls? Unless real perverts like you read it?
I said shes not pretty enough. Thats all.
Oyo321 4 years ago
well...I'm so sorry that the actress playing Susan ruined ure appreciation of this great story...jeez
and fyi, I am not a pervert, I just can't understand how a slight dislike in the casting makes it so hard to enjoy the movie...I thought the casting was excellent, I thought Susan was not as brave as I pictured in the movie, but I wasn't like "omg she's ugly"...
rockndude87 4 years ago

and ure the one who called her a "fugly noob...ugliest ho", so whose needs the chill pill? jeez...u don't like the casting, then make ure own movie, everyone else enjoys this one!

I don't remember C.S Lewis ever commenting on how "pretty" the characters in the book were.
And i think Susan is very pretty, in fact. So shut the hell up and stop complaining about how ugly the cast members are, that's not the reason they made the movie prick

Albusowner 4 years ago
It is left up to the reader to decide what happens to Susan. She doesn't go to Narnia with the others at that time, but that doesn't mean she will never "repent" and go eventually. It could go either way with her. There have been arguments for both ways but Lewis never gave the answer.

Eruaphadriel 4 years ago 2
Yeah sure Lewis put his beliefs into his books and guess what, they're still awesome. If you're going to go on about a story being allegorical, get over yourself because everyone's always going to find something offensive in some way. If you're that concerned, go write your own book. Seriously. You can't please the whole world. If you think the books/ movies suck you shouldn't even be wasting your time telling people who want to see this movie. I mean..that's kinda dumb:)

Finally christians have something for them too, harry potter kinda does the oposite.
DarthApocalypse85 4 years ago
Now that you mention it, harry potter has LOTs of Christian allusions, including two verses of the Bible in the final book "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" & "The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death"...the theme of sacrifice and the power of love...so yay!
portica912 4 years ago
I don't think Rowling had that in mind when she wrote that, but oh wells. Good enough I suppose.
Eruaphadriel 4 years ago
It's not perfect, but it is heavily infulenced with Christian values when it comes to morality and choices. I don't think Rowling is christian. And even though she claims Dumbledore is gay, there is no coherent indication within the context of the books, even if the author claims so (it's like if the author claimed that harry potter is actually originated from outer-space, but that claim in itself is not consistent with the works). Let the work be judged by itself.

This movie rocks!!! The Golden Compass sucks! 'coz it's ant-narnia
narnianroyalty 4 years ago
...anti-narnia?
Eruaphadriel 4 years ago
yeah, Pullman himself said that his agenda was to "kill God" from the children books and that to him Narnia was "disgusting".

Oyo321 4 years ago
Redwall rocks my socks. But I think movies would be hard to make....
Faradin2772 4 years ago
*blinks* tash-followers are muslims? Hmm didn't catch that...
Ahh wells, he was a man of his times, can't blame him for influenced bias.
Eruaphadriel 4 years ago 2
On your last point, I can't say that's true:
If read his descriptions of the society at that time and before he became a Christian, there wasn't much bias for Christianty. In fact, there was much more bias AGAINST Christianity.
portica912 4 years ago
He did write Narnia after he became Christian though, so the "before he became Christian" part is moot. And when I said "influenced bias" it wasn't AGAINST Muslims per se; it's just that he saw them differently. Lewis probably didn't mean to imply that Christians are better than Muslims or anything along that line. It does seem like he has a certain stereotype though.
Eruaphadriel 4 years ago
Youre wrong there. Lewis certainly tried to degrade what seems analogous to Muslim/Islam, tash, and uphold what seems analogous to Christianity with Aslan as God. There is no denying in that Lewis's books were made so. Read his last book. Completely makes the "brownies" look bad. I hated it.
Oyo321 4 years ago
Well, one of the supposed "brownies" villains turned to be one of the great heroes of the series. It's simply trying to convey mob mentality, how it can blind and corrupt. Remember the White witch? She's the ultimate white supremacist, pretty much mirrors the nazi 'aryan' evil.
portica912 4 years ago
Yeah, well, youre stupid. White witch = white supremacist? lol
So tell me-did the white witch go around fucking killing everyone that wasnt white? ur so stupid
Even if Narnia was not intended to be biased, although it definitely is to me, Narnia is still a mirror of heaven, as well as God (Aslan). Thats whats wrong with the book.
Oyo321 4 years ago
No...the White witch is a further extension from the nazi pride. She takes it a step further. If it were convenient to her, she would kill or oppress everyone whom she considers below herself (and because Pride blinds, that would be everybody). Since she's the only witch (her race), they are all below her.
portica912 4 years ago
But it makes sense that after overcoming certain bias to get to the truth (he was very much against christians and religious people) it is unlikely that he would hold a blinded-sighted bias of someone 'born' with the beliefs, so it is relevant. I don't see the connection of tash w/muslims,???
portica912 4 years ago
I think the reason why people see a connection between tash and muslims is because of the customs and the dress, as well as the fact that they live south-ish. And he may have overcome his bias against Christians and religious people, but maybe not the bias against arabic/muslim people. He did live in England (not meaning that English people have a bias against muslims or anything, please don't get me wrong--but it's predominantly Christian and far from the arabic region)
Eruaphadriel 4 years ago
I think they may look arabic, but it's far from alluding they're muslims, as Lewis was familiar with their basic beliefs. The Carlomen were more pagan, with blood sacrifices as opposed to muslims who do not. They were also more than happy to comply with the term 'taslan' to serve their own agendas, so weren't exactly as reverential to their god..to muslims that's huge blasphemy.
portica912 4 years ago
Its true-Lewis was a dick who tried to convey how great Christians were with his best-selling book.
What do you think Aslan stands for? A symbolic lion character? No, he is GOD. What about Narnia? What do you think that is? Its fucking HEAVEN. What happens at the end of the last book? All the characters die in some lame ass train accident yet the continue their lives in Narnia, a heaven.
Oyo321 4 years ago
Although there were some great 'christian' characters, there were a lot of 'christian' characters with pretty glaring faults (eg. Edmund, etc.) Christianity deals with characters learning to do better and forgiveness, not standing on a pedestal flashing their superiority. Ultimately it is Aslan who wins the battle and supports the characters.
Narnia was not Heaven. Like all fallen worlds, it was destroyed and a new, far better eternal world is created. Death is not the end.
portica912 4 years ago
Narnia is heaven. Ive read critics' articles before, and they have the same thought as me. The children die from a train accident-where do they end up afterlife? Narnia. Who rules them? Aslan. Where do most devout Christian belive the go when they die (like Lewis)? Heaven aka Narnia.
ooh "death is not the end" so dramatic
Oyo321 4 years ago
"New Narnia"(is the eternal Heaven) that is, the old Narnia (the supposed temporal Earth) was destroyed. Well you're right, Aslan represents God. "Death is not the end"; it's a simple statement, take or leave it. If you feel the need to make it sound ludicrous or suggest any dramatic intentions, that's your prerogative, not mine. I would prefer you approach the statement like a scholar would. Soft pedaling itis far from examining the veracity of the claim.
portica912 4 years ago
Heaven isn't exactly a bad thing. Neither is God...and I would be careful about calling train accidents lame, it's politically incorrect(lol):D.

All Christians say that you go to hell if you dont join Christianity.
Oyo321 4 years ago
dude thats a lie, i think if you are a good person and do what Christ would like you to do, you are welcome to heaven, however, it is even better if you do that and join christianity, but thats just me
PipeBasket54 4 years ago
Jesus said, "I am The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one gets to the Father except by Me."
Anyway, Christ would like you to come to Him over everything else, so to that extent I agree with you. But I wouldn't trust my best works or greatest deeds to nullify my sinfulness in the eyes of a Holy God. Also, know that Christianity is not like a club to join but rather a relationship to have with God Himself through Jesus Christ.
Kikoman97 4 years ago
"join christianity or you go to hell. join it or you die. you have to be 'saved' to go to heaven"
oh my god. bullshit.
Why are religious people all like that? They devote their entire life to someone who we dont even know exists, something that could be fake. "Oh, now youre goin to hell for sayin that noob" is the responses im gonna get now. RELIGION IS NOT EVERYTHING.
Oyo321 4 years ago
If by 'religion' you mean that Christianity is not everything, then you're wrong. Christianity makes very specific claims. By logic, we arrive at only two possibilities:
Either Christianity is True and is Everything; or Christianity is false and nothing. Go into this without bias, question hard...gather the evidences if you must, but consider hard as both claims have great implications.
portica912 4 years ago
Christianity means that you're rescued by a greater power than yourself from hell. If you don't want to be rescued, of course you'll eventually drift to (your demise) hell. And if you don't realize you are in danger or have a disease you won't want to be rescued or cured, but you'll be getting closer to death in your denial.
portica912 4 years ago
Christianity is not just a club you join, it's new relationship with God and a new journey. The Bible is very exlicit and specific in its claim. Either it is the biggest hoax or it is true. There is no middle ground. But if you are genuine in seeking the Truth, ultimately you'd arrived at these two choices.
portica912 4 years ago
Either Chrsitianity is true or the biggest hoax. Those are the two possibilities. Logic dictates that both cannot be true (it would abolish the law of non-contradiction, so relativism is ruled out). However you look at it, Christianity isn't just one of many religions. Either it's true or it's not. It's uniquely different and has very specific claims.
portica912 4 years ago
God doesn't send people to hell. They choose it on their own accord. Even though we all sinned and deserve to be in hell (which is eternal separation from God and all the horrors that come with it) God loves us too much to bear seeing us going to hell, so He came into human flesh to die and atone for our sins (even though He never sinned and is innocent) so that if we choose to receive His free gift, we wouldn't suffer the consequences of our sins.
portica912 4 years ago
The King and Creator of Life and the galaxies humbled Himself to die for you. The worst thing you can do to God is to reject His love and choose to go to hell, His pain is beyond what we can imagine. Yet He respects you enough to allow you to make the choice.
portica912 4 years ago
Even though it is more bearable for those who reject God to eternally be in hell than be force to be eternally w/God, the torments of hell was not intended for humans; it was intended for demons (fallen angels) and a terrible place of punishment. Demons will do whatever it takes to get you to suffer w/them eternally because you are loved by God, and created in the image of God, and for that they hate you.
portica912 4 years ago
God doesn't want that; He'd rather die and defeat death than have you go to hell. You don't 'join Christianity' and be subjected to the rules of other self-appointed 'christianity', you are free and have only God to answer to. Don't look at pseudo-christianity corrupted by men, but look to the real deal.
portica912 4 years ago
What you sad doesnt make sense. Train accidents arent political? wtf? and thats funny to u?
Never said heaven was bad. What I said was Lewis's use of religious connotations in children's book isnt favorable and reader-unfriendly, especially when he downplays other religions viewed by the Christian world as inferior.
Oyo321 4 years ago
You obviously haven't read all the books. In the Last Battle, Narnia is destroyed and all those who follow Aslan go into a different world, a better Narnia. From that Narnia, you see other "better" worlds, including a better earth. If anything is supposed to be heaven, it is that place. The Christian heaven has no war, no betrayal and is all good and anyone can be part of it if they believe and follow the one who created it. Narnia is not heaven.
Kudoso 4 years ago
See? I'm glad someone here read the story correctly, thank u!! lol

Oyo321 4 years ago

grimreaper123457 4 years ago
And this is comming from an agnostic?
the agnostic is not sure of Deity but does not deny the possibility, the true agnostic is more sensible than that (only the simplistic atheism denies even the possibility). How can you then, as an agnostic, make dogmatic claims when you're not sure in the first place. There's the possibility of it being true, or has that gone out of the window.
portica912 4 years ago
I can see you are very knowledgeable in Christianity and its ideals. I can also see you are very heavily influenced by it, and your rush to its defense shows your great faith in the religion.
Good for you. Faith and pride are the best things ever to have.
Just dont let it get the better of you. Religion is not everything. Im sorry that my opinons were too strong.
Oyo321 4 years ago
On the contrary, your genuine/unbiased opinions are welcome. We're not even miles on the topic of faith. I was in fact reasoning with you, using Logic to make a case founded on Reason. Logic and reason are one of Christianity greatest assets (except perhaps revelation). On my background, I was one of the biggest skeptics of christianity and religion in general until I examined the evidence. It was overwhelmingly by far for Christianity
portica912 4 years ago
Consider the argument, think and question hard if you are interested in finding the Truth. Yes I am biased in a sense...for the Truth. I am biased againtst falseness, superstitions, blind-beliefs w/out foundations, non-truths. It is not pride on the faith that I rush for defense, in fact Pride is the greatest sin (the vehicle for all other sins, but I take you meant 'Human Dignity').
portica912 4 years ago
I want to tell the Truth as it is, with clear reasoning, and expose the fraud of the glaring errors + prejudice in bureocratic atheistic society indoctrination (who do indeed encourage blind-faith in subtles and not so subtle ways, provided you don't challenge their status quo). Break out of convention if you must when you arrive at the truth. Those in power dictate the direction of the game.

campbellxcore 4 years ago
