  • Cool! I always figured they would have something like this outdoors.

I chuckled a little when i saw the lights and stuff.

  • It was supposed to be outside, but it was raining too hard so they moved it to the casino.

  • you mean the eagle casino in mt pleasant? i miss the pow wow festival last august. Had i known there would be such grand festival, i would have traveled in august and not in september. My sister's husband is 50% chippewa and i have now a dream catcher hanging outside my bedroom door. I like your tribe, more power.

  • Actually am not chippewa, I am 25% cherokee :) But my tribes gatherings are so faraway from Michigan so I never get the chance to go. My friend (chippewa) invited me to hers so I could at least experience a pow wow :).

  • @angel21d I have 4 strains of Native American blood according to my newly found siblings, but the only ones they could remember were Chippewa and Cherokee. I hope to find out the others soon, I am very excited to finally discover my heritage. My adopted parents tease me now that they know, I was obsessed with Native American culture as a child :P

  • Oh and yeah it is the eagle casino.

  • wow..!!!! i miss mt pleasant..i am a filipina and right now i'm in the philippines..i was there for a week last month...so that's another tribe, a cherokee.. i like the names of your tribes..this is one word i won't forget..MIIGWICH.

  • Sounds cool! I am going to be taking advanced Japanese translation and Japanese literature this fall :).

  • What is "Pow wow"? An event like this? An end of summer festival of sorts?

  • It is a native american gathering and celebration :)

  • What a colorful and impressing event! It is good to see that Native Americans still preserve their traditions.

  • Yeah I just kinda regret I can't go to a cherokee pow wow. I am 1/4 cherokee.

  • Yes, I remember. When I visited the USA back in 1999, I had the opportunity to talk to some Native Americans. It was quite interesting, they told me how difficult it has become to keep on with the old traditions because the young Native Americans often don't have much interest in their heritage but want to live a modern life without folklore.
