The pope says: "Finally I would like to assure you that the Catholic Church will not let up in her fight against violence, in her commitment for peace in the world. We are animated by the common desire to be "pilgrims of truth, pilgrims of peace".
Is there a greater violence than unbelief that destroys both body and soul eternally?

WAKE UP PEOPLE, THIS IS AN EFFORT TO BRING ABOUT THE NEW WORLD ORDER. ONE RELIGION. ONE LEADER. DO YOU KNOW WHO THIS ONE LEADER WILL BE? THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE ANTICRIST ARE IN FULL SPEED. WAKE UP...
@Califman831 They are making a common commitment to PEACE, that's it. We as Christians are called to welcome and love everyone, since we are all human beings created by the same God. This is what JPII did and Benedict is doing. whether theirs is a false faith is another matter for another day. I am proud that we took the initiative in this, because no other religious leader have done similarly.
"...may every RELIGION bring upon the earth justice and PEACE, forgiveness and life, LOVE." - Benedict XVI >>> "Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon." (Revelation 13:11) >>> Indeed, this is the "Mother of Harlots." (Rev. 17) She is full of deceit. Now she wants a "global public authority" and a "world central bank." This is the Church that will bring the Mark - 666.
@stinkygeorgia1 the pope doesn't endorse "world central bank" like you claim he does. Back it up. Another thing too, did you actually read the encyclical Caritas in veritate? I sincerely doubt you did.
@Jamsterish It's supposed to mean that the Roman Catholic Church has inspired, led, instigated, and perpetrated a great deal of violence in the last couple millennia.
@Jamsterish , so all the Crusades, the Thirty Years War, the Inquisitions, the St. Bartholomew Massacre, the children missing from the Indian Schools, Northern Ireland, and ALL the children molested in the Church and covered up, those were all imaginary or someone else in "credible scholarship?"
@lesliep4819 Violence, no matter who commits it, is not in line with the Teachings of Jesus or the Church and is indeed against the nature of God, as Pope Benedict has stated. So you can blame individuals, who have condemned themselves by their actions, but not "The Roman Catholic Church" or it's official Teachings.
A few things you mentioned have been twisted by media and anti-Catholics to serve an agenda.
@Jamsterish You are clearly correct about what the official doctrine says. However, the Crusades went on for hundreds of years in many countries. The other examples I gave killed tens of thousands and the Church never took action against them. To call the deaths of millions of people that occurred in just these examples "a few things" is astonishing. One can only reasonably blame so many things on 'bad apples.' After a few million times, one has to conclude there's a sytemic problem.
@lesliep4819 The crusades is a perfect example. It was a call to defend the innocent against aggression of Muslim invaders that had been destroying, killing and conquering Christian areas It had been going on for 400 years prior to the first even being called. All credibility is lost when you just jump to a wild blanket number like "a few million" and then attempt to pin it on the Church. There's no systemic problem. The problem is a fallen human nature. That affects all of mankind.
@lesliep4819 You threw out about 5 different examples and attempted to give them all equal footing, claiming the Church did nothing. It's not so black and white and each thing you mentioned was different. The Church has indeed condemned some of these situations. And...even apologized for others.
The whole story, and credible sources of history, need to be examined. Your example of the crusades is a prime example that your sources were not intellectually honest.

Just because JPII made a mistake in welcoming false faiths to assisi does not mean Benedict should repeat the same mistake.

@lesliep4819 If you are to believe revisionist history. Credible & honest scholarship will not back your assertion.
