  • yes I did vegandeb,it has gone off to another appeal and then gpot turned down again was that the one? Hope that its the end of that! ..glad to hear that Twistie is still with you, they are remarkable thesegirls.....keep up the good work and look outr for morevideos, just tell metoo ifyou have anewwone....my facebook friends lovedyours!!

  • vegandeb, beautiful, heartwarming superb, video! I really enjoyed it it was so good to see...we only had three and one died of EYP..internally laying, got bigger and bigger,RIP Cotton Tail...the other two,one year on still doing well. Think you were on forum awhileback. We havegone vegan sincethen.! peaceand love lexi

  • @BaltiAngel oh yes i think i remember, well since then one of the hens had a stoke , could not move one side of her body, it took six months and she 99% back, she lives with me i call her twistie as that how her head was, she even repeats what i say, its amazing , infact i am shocked, so good you went vegan, what a liberating feeling, if you from uk, have you heard of the beagle breeders for experiments, farm wanting to build sheds for 2000 beagles that got turned down by government

  • oh and by the way free range hens die young too, they suffer the same problems, egg peritonitis, prolapses, diseases, what have we done, chickens was on this earth before us, yet we treat them like nothing, we cant respect anyones life whilst we are dis respecting non-humans too,

  • wow!! @ 5.35!! beautiful little ladies! can't wait to get some land and rescue chooks again!

  • @roxcharlie oh , that girl purring was called Lucy, she died 3 days ago and i have a plaque where i buried her, saying , (this is lucy everybody) i used to say that to her when on my own with her, knowing no body really cared, but i did and you have just sent me that message at the right time, some people do care, she didn't even make 3y, but thats another thing people dont see, battery hens suffer and they lifes are short lived, one day we will see what harm humans did, keep pushing the word:)

  • @debvegandeb i'm so sorry, at least she knew what love was in her short life! they make lovely pets, very smart and inquisitive. the oldest one I had got to 10.I used to love sitting with my girls, the rescue ones were more 'friendly' than chicks I had hand reared.

  • sorry friesian cowboy, your link has disappeared, please feel free to re post, but the reply you wanted is underneath, cheers

  • @debvegandeb no i dont mind you asking at all, i suppose i looked at the bigger picture of hatcheries and 40 millions male chicks (uk alone) been killed in churning machines, and the prolapses and egg peritinitis infection in their overies that i have witnesses daily in the free range hens i have also rescued from farms that were due to be killed like all layers at around 2 years old, (natural life should be 8 to 10 years, ) and i chose NOT to be part of that industry or abuse and respect them

  • my cat is trying to get in to my hens home a lot

  • i have ex-battery hens they lovely u should band people for having a farm like that

  • how could they hurt these poor babies :( i would hate if these were my girls

  • Well done. I'm also vegan and have just picked up 8 rescued birds today. They are in better condition than your birds were (luckily) and now they're free and on my allotment, they can live out their days in peace.

  • i was told yesterday that if " I want to eat eggs than that is a personal choice," my answer to that is how can it be a personal choice when it is affecting another

  • @debvegandeb exactly, if someone or something is hurt by your choices, then that is not fair

  • They all look like turken (naked neck) chickens!

  • If you don't want to go vegan most cities allow a couple of hens. I have two hens, named macy and ambre great pets.

  • This made me cry. you gave these chickens a million times more than what they've ever had. and I could tell that the enjoy every moment of living now. thanks to you. :)

  • Chicken purrs are wonderful things! Thanks for helping these beautiful girls. Their gratitude is obvious. Free range is awesome.

  • beautiful video, i have some hens (one passed away last month so we got 2 more) not ex battery hens though, but i love chickens they are adorable and i didn't know they had so much personality to them, i was a vegetarian before having them but it makes me wonder still how anyone can eat them, i'm not a vegan but i hardly like eggs, whenever i eat them though they are fresh from my own chickens and my family only eat their eggs too :)

  • I don't wanna be an herbivore. I tried that once but I got sick and now I think I still can't do it.

  • Ohlala, those poor chickens :( I like chickens so much, I hope I can do the same one day... It's really nice what you are doing....

  • this video made me cry, i know about battery hens and stuff but those poor things looked just about ready for the oven they were so bald. What you have done is an amazing thing. Watching them enjoying their new life made me so happy. I have hens at home, hybrids just like those and it made me so sad to think of my girls like that. I am now getting some ex batts. Unfortunately I only have room for four but that's four more hens saved.

  • 5:55 onwards, are they purring?

It breaks my heart to see the state of some of these poor chickies, god bless you x

  • going to collect our battery hens later this afternoon, so looking forward to bringing them home and giving them a safe happy life :)

  • @mileyooxx good for you, hope the other 60 million occupation of uk catch on the suffering that these birds go through for an egg,

  • @mileyooxx how did you manage to save some of the battery hens? i'm not sure how to go about getting some.

  • @winnethepoo68 in our area there is a charity that rescues the hens from the farm, so you just donate some money when you collect ur hens. try searching in ur local area if there is anyone who rescues the hens and re homes, they would be able to give you more information

  • Hitler treated the jews better than this!

  • I cried all the way through that.I just wish this could be shown on the TV. How many people would it put off buying battery eggs?? I have adopted 4 ex bats. and they were no way in as bad as a condition as these little girls are. Where the hell is the RSPCA? The person responsible for these chicks needs closing down..Thank you to the people who have taken them in you are amazing and I know you will get great joy from them. What is so sad is, these are the lucky ones.

  • This is a fantastic little account of the rescue of these sweet animals. Your compassion for them shines through and even in a week, their transformation was startling. Very uplifting

  • I always died at 6.40.... just the one person walking and 10 chickens running after him.... just seemed really commical haha. Oh I do love chickens, they're so intelligent and cute :)

  • Thank you so much for giving their lives back to these refugees! You cannot possibly apologize enough for how "sorry" man is! So happy these birds have a chance at freedom!

  • You are a wonderful person

Thank you for being an Angel for animals

  • I really do understand how hens should be free range and live a free life but I'm afraid I don't understand the point of being vegan please explain if i have misunderstood something but whats the harm in eating eggs from free range chickens (who have been rescued from these sort of conditions). I just don't understand. Is there a better use for the eggs other than eating them? I love the main point of your video though.

  • @ellsstuff well if i can try to explain this shortly, i myself have just rescued 100 free range hens, farmers keep them for a year, then send them to slaughter when their egg production slows, and every hen has a cockrel born at the same time, which gets gassed or curned up at one day old, so not eating eggs is not been part of the death of 40 millions cockrels killed at birth, and not supporting hens been killing at a very early age, personally i do not want to be part of exploiting these girls

  • @debvegandeb Thanks for explaining oh I completly agree about the farming side and it's wrong what they do to them. Just wondering do you still eat the eggs from them when you have rescued them and you know they are living a good life? It's just as it's not a fertalised egg it's not harming anything and as you know you are looking after them well their happy. Thanks for answering x

  • @debvegandeb The questioner doesn't understand the point of being a vegan and asks: "whats the harm in eating eggs from free range chickens" but you didn't answer. I keep ex-battery hens who are now living a healthy free range life instead of becoming pet food after spending a year in cages. I get a good supply of unfertilized eggs from them. Why shouldn't we eat these yummy free range eggs? No rooster died for these eggs so what harm am I doing by taking them?

  • I'm so sad to know that millions of hens live in such horrible conditions... Thank you so much for saving those. they looked so terrible and it was very nice to see them act like actual hens :)

  • now is the time to spread the world could it be your parents or frends that are keeping these cages full of suffering hens, TELL them if their have any respect for any life to BOYCOTT EGGS FROM CAGED HENS, we dont need eggs to survive so why even but them, free range hens suffer in other ways, I SHOULD KNOW, ,

  • @debvegandeb No you don't know, I have free range chickens and they are very happy and friendly. Just the 4 of them can go anywhere they like whenever they like over my 5acres.

  • GO VEGAN

  • So beautiful.

  • @MyBatcat thankyou i agree

  • Beautiful creatures. Beautiful souls. And you are an animal hero. Thank you.

  • @lovekat62 thankyou for your kind words, i have just rescued another 100, all free to live the rest of their lives free from greedy man

  • @lovekat62 thankyou, there are many animal heros, and i like the term,, its not until people have lived with chickens you really understand them, and the more you understand the more horrifying it is to realise what the rest are going through

  • the state of these chickens is unacceptable... go you for saving them!

we had a neighbour in Portugal when i was growing up, a little oldish lady who had a collection of animals on her small plot, and even had a cow. i would go there often, and see her and feed her chickens (which were fat and happy), and she gave me a basket with fresh eggs, and half litre of fresh cows milk, some goats cheese and other bits and pieces. its was a mutual relationship. i loved it and the cow was like a cat! :)

  • i feel really sorry for these chickens, who,s fault is it that we have got them to this state, why are we doing this,

  • what a lovely video, we have had ours 3.5 weeks and their personalities are really showing through now, this morning they ran out to greet me for the first time, they are actually starting to trust humans now :)

  • @sohobarbie yer they do start to trust you and the other animals you may have, they will maybe though start to get their own independance and spend more time doing other things without relying on you so much, that fine for me, and expect some deaths if they ex battery, their bodies have really been abused so their insides sometimes lets them down at a young age,, alot die in battery cages but this is something we dont see, look luch with them and be happy

  • poor darlings, what they've gone through. so heartbreaking watching them make their first steps during freedom, experiencing earth and sun, spreading their wings for the first time. my god, these gentle souls how much they have suffered for humans. every innocent living creature has the right to be free! such fascinating creatures these sweet chickens are. how they express themselves, communicate with each other, show contentment. thank you for giving them back their lives...

  • @joolenka thankyou, the wierd thing is, I have just got back from the vets, after having to put one of the little girls down having egg peritinitis. caused through humans abusing their egg laying capabilities, this is the side nobody sees, and nobody give a damn about, I just got back in the office from the vets and couldnt stop crying with this little girl in my arms, and you sent this message, it couldnt of come at a better time to make me realise there is people who care in the world,

  • @debvegandeb i am sorry for your loss. :( at least she finally experienced some love and comfort, sweet girl. yes, there are people who care in this world. i used to not think about chickens, even though i called myself an "animal lover." i've been vegan for 2 years now, and with each day my love and respect for animals grows. my soul overflows with empathy for them. i truly believe people have it in them to reach this kind of state. it's our soul's true design. we have to fnd our way back.

  • @joolenka thankyou foolenka, you are 100% right with your words, I am constantly campaigning and many around me, and you just wonder how we got to this state, a lot of it is ignorance, but for those of us that do understand we need to keep the pressure up, by the way nice to meet another vegan, same hear veggie for 20 years vegan for 2, thankyou for the internet, .ps are you from uk

  • wow i thought my ex batts loved me but yours worship you, you are an inspiration thank you

  • @rustyredline thankyou, i love them all too, only wish i could of saved their and sisters, all in baby food by now, not had the chance to feel the sun and breath fresh air, and knew what their legs and wings were capable of doing, BLESS THEM ALL, and R.I.P.

  • get your eggs from people who keep keep a small flock and treat them good not these jerks that treat them like money making tools the eggs are actualy cheaper and taste better too

  • Bless you for rescuing them. I wish there were more people like you in the world. xox

  • @MaeveMX5 thankyou for all your kind words, i feel privalaged to live with so many beautiful girls , anybody got any ideas how i can get the message across to the ignorant people who are still buying eggs from caged hens,

  • Well done for rehoming so many, they look in really bad shape as well, My family have some ex battery chickens (they bought then for their eggs though) , they were in alot better shape then these though so they might have been "free" range or just had time to recouperate at the sancturary they got them from.

Where were they rescued from btw unless it was an open rescue they no need to answer ;)

  • @Tinkpixie1 thanks for the comments, i agree with you, but people dont seem to care about chickens and ime giving up hope on the whole of human society, well 98% of them anyway,
