You're wrong. You're probably thinking of the SYSTEM folder. System32 is different. Period. Deleting it will make your internet faster just like deleting everything in your regedit will make your CPU much, comma, much faster. Period.

Ive been stuck with a Vista Home Premium PC for forever, and i hate it. I'd rather have a Mac. iMac, Macbook, Air, Pro, anything! They are much better, and they would help me with my iPod touch. Btw, try rapidly and repeatedly pressing the F key when RESTARTING your PC to enter Safe Mode, if you cant enter that mode, you have Conficker.

Well if you bought any of the products that came out in 2006-2007 hopefully you'll be safe. If you bought it from 2008,it might have a newer version that is infected and being sold at stores. could I still get this virus? on april 1st I comepletely shut off my computer, and didnt turn it on until the following day. I have all virus protector updates and things like that. On April 1st, the conflicker virus downloaded a new DLL changing the code that connected to 250 websites a day to 50000 a day. the reason for this s because several companies were pre-emptivly registering the websites so the virus couldn't check them for new DLLs. (DLLs is what the coding changes for the virus are stored in. It basically allows a program ot change its coding without reinstalling.)
But if the maker of the virus or makers of the virus did take over 20 million computers with that new DLL extension... it would be almost impossible to keep an eye on each computer because usually a small team of about 2-10 people have the virus and run it on a host computer or host network. With 15-20 million computers infected (and still spreading) would be near impossilble to find something of value like a bank card number or card credentials because of its infected computer count.
But there is a way to bypass everything... if someone was to shut down the host network or computer the virus would be dead space (corrupted data) pretty much it has to be run by a bot built in to the virus.

theres two options to open and view folder files, the first one..(DONT OPEN) its a 99% chance that its made from the conficker worm. And more than likely your protected, Microsoft made an update in October of 2008 to prevent the conficker worm hope this helps :)

My friends computer got it bad, it had pretty much taken full control of his computer, his background was replaced with a background flashing "Warning Virus" and deleted every anti virus program he had, all internet security was set to minimum as possible, and every time he tried reseting his computer a drive was missing, until he lost full control and couldn't even turn his computer on.
That's some true shit, Antivirus programs are a money sink, yeah they might help you PREVENT the virus...(which is all good) but once you get it your computer and it's files are pretty much fucked.

So i was on this website right .. when my norton tells me that it was processeing some threats, so i close windows and decide to run norton full scan, it was begining and my live update told me it had to reboot to finish installing updates ... is that normal? cuz usually live update.. just updates then and there with no reboots.. or is it somethin else? am i fine?

Now I'm just curious. In terms of email, if you open one up and there's a link, but you don't click on it, you can still be infected, right? Just from opening the email?
What about even highlighting the message to delete it?
I've gotten strange emails before that I know are from phishers that I just delete, but in terms of this conficker worm, I have no clue what can, and what won't infect my system.

I'm not sure if i got the Conficker or is it just my system files have been broken, but now Mozilla Firefox doesn't go to any website, only IE works, WMM broken totally and I can't save any project or video file, most of my editing programs etc. crash the computer to restart 5 seconds after they are ran, my PC shutting down takes 30 seconds now and it only took 20 seconds normally...
Before my last Windows reinstall I had a temp2.exe error and my PC was crashing always... Seriously what the.

Well if you bought any of the products that came out in 2006-2007 hopefully you'll be safe. If you bought it from 2008,it might have a newer version that is infected and being sold at stores. I suggest people that check there emails on a daily bases use a diffrent way of keeping in touch with people or you have a buissness. On April 1st, the conflicker virus downloaded a new DLL changing the code that connected to 250 websites a day to 50000 a day. the reason for this s because several companies were pre-emptivly registering the websites so the virus couldn't check them for new DLLs. (DLLs is what the coding changes for the virus are stored in. It basically allows a program ot change its coding without reinstalling.)

But if the maker of the virus or makers of the virus did take over 20 million computers with that new DLL extension... it would be almost impossible to keep an eye on each computer because usually a small team of about 2-10 people have the virus and run it on a host computer or host network. With 15-20 million computers infected (and still spreading) would be near impossilble to find something of value like a bank card number or card credentials because of its infected computer count.

theres two options to open and view folder files, the first one..(DONT OPEN) its a 99% chance that its made from the conficker worm. And more than likely your protected, Microsoft made an update in October of 2008 to prevent the conficker worm hope this helps :)

Kamianek you obviously dont understand how serious this is, conficker isnt just an ordinary worm that you just click and download, it runs in STEALTH and infects through a USB that means if you ever plugged your flash drive into an infected USB slot your already done for,(note that most students/personnel use this piece of equipment to help make work material more portable/ and the fact that most people are unaware of the infection so if they don't know how would you? >.>)

My friends computer got it bad, it had pretty much taken full control of his computer, his background was replaced with a background flashing "Warning Virus" and deleted every anti virus program he had, all internet security was set to minimum as possible, and every time he tried reseting his computer a drive was missing, until he lost full control and couldn't even turn his computer on.
