Banks started out as a group of people known as trustees that people decided to trust to hold their assets in a safe place known as banker's vaults, to cover bank expenses, They would loan out those assets to 3rd party borrowers with a clause to pay back this borrowed money with interest earning bankers a profit. A fraction of that interest will then be paid out to the original owners of those assets.
@Laughingblades But.... this practice was abused long-term by the Federal Reserve where they would only accept real assets in exchange for their paper money which is what eventually led to the mess we are in today. Anyone or anything that benefited from the Federal Reserve Bank's activities should be audited as well.
The Federal Reserve is the RIGHT target. Wall street is not. We desperately need workers cooperatives in the United States, companies owned by the workers where the workers take home shares based on the prosperity of the company instead of whatever scraps of an hourly wage the business elite decides to give while hoarding the profits.
We need democracy in America! While we have been exporting "Democracy" to other countries at the point of a gun we have languished under an oligarchical republic owned by the business elite.

@EasternMerchant I don't support taking the right away for private businesses and corporations to exist though, what I support is the right for Workers Cooperatives to exist, the right for workers to know about them, and the right for workers cooperatives to compete against the private businesses and corporations.
And do you know why? It's the same reason the business elite hate and fear the cooperative, they can never compete against them in a fair and open marketplace, they'll always lose.

@Laughingblades I agree, but Banks at the very root of their existence, is NOT A BUSINESS! Banks started out as a group of people known as trustees that people decided to trust to hold their assets in a safe place known as banker's vaults, to cover bank expenses, They would loan out those assets to 3rd party borrowers with a clause to pay back this borrowed money with interest earning bankers a profit. A fraction of that interest will then be paid out to the original owners of those assets.

@Laughingblades But.... this practice was abused long-term by the Federal Reserve where they would only accept real assets in exchange for their paper money which is what eventually led to the mess we are in today. Now we have a bunch of useless paper money, and all the assets are under the ownership of the corporate entities who perpetuate the Federal Reserve.

@EasternMerchant Oh I fully agree on banking, you're right, people MUST be protected from usury and ideally there would be no usury and no private banks because they would not be needed in a democratic state. The state should be able to provide it's own bank which operates under a very simple system of laws that could easily fit on a post card.

The Federal Reserve is a major problem and it should be audited and dissolved. Also the Federal Reserve is a privately owned company and not a government agency. It's owned by private corporations such as JP Morgan/Chase, Goldman Sachs, The Citigroup, and many ultra-wealthy families and individuals, they should be audited and their offshore accounts should be audited as well. Anyone or anything that benefited from the Federal Reserve Bank's activities should be audited as well.
