sorry if this seems like a daft question Darren, but do all SACD's play on a regular cd player? had a quick google but can only find info about actual SACD players!

@INDIEREMIX SACDs will play on a standard CD player but you will only get the CD data track. If you want the surround sound or high resolution track you will need to use a dedicated SACD player. Hope this helps. If not, ask away!

Dark side of the moon sacd

Was the biggest sacd album of all time I belive.

@vrooomuk Why not have all the Pink Floyd albums in 5.1? Genesis and King Crimson have.

Darren is the sound quality any different from SACD compared to just the 5.1 Wish You Were Here? I remember when DVD-Audio first came out, I went and bought the special DVD-Audio player(now my ex-wife has it) , then the format just kinda dropped from the face of the earth.., the special DVD-Audio DVD's at least. Now there is only Blue Ray players which is fine. What format will be next?

@Dannymusic1999 Well I would like to at least hear Meddle, Animals, The Wall & The Final Cut in 5.1 (the latter two would make idea surround sound releases).

DVD-Audio kind of fell off the dial and so did SACD. The players were expensive and no-one really "got it". My blu-ray player cost me £100 and it has SACD output so I already owned the Genesis box sets and bought some cheap SACDs. What's next? I don't know. But you can rip surround sound audio to MP4 files, so maybe 5.1 downloads?

@vrooomuk The Wall is already in 5.1 right? But the Floyd albums you mention would be grand! I have the Genesis DVD-Audio box sets or you might say DTS and Dolby Digital combination. I heared some people say the SACD's have a wee bit better sound quality? Maybe I'll buy one just to see. Are the Genesis titles still available in the SACD format? One last item of note why did Steve Wilson make available a dead format(DVD-Audio) on the King Crimsom re-issues???

@Dannymusic1999 The Wall isn't in 5.1. If you have a Genesis remastered box set (there are three of those) then the SACDs are included in the set - if you are in the UK. Not sure about anywhere else. Is the quality any better - you probably won't notice it unless you have the hearing of a small dog.

@Dannymusic1999 Yes, it is daft. I was hoping that the Immersion set for the Wall would have the album in 5.1 but it is not looking good (though you never know). As for getting SACDs, it's not really worth the hassle if you have a decent DVD player and surround sound setup. I only buy SACDs because my DVD player can play them.

@GrandpaBambu Absolutely! Do you want to see my bank account statements... But I do sell a lot of stuff onwards when I am done with them. Already off-loaded WYWH Immersion and The Discovery Box Set and got the other two sets up on eBay at the moment. Besides, the last couple of months have been exceptional for box sets. I don't do this all the time.
