A $26,500 Joker Jackpot? That's $9500 away from the $36K jackpot that Mary won (pressmin has that clip), the biggest winner in the Category era. Thomas Van Dyke with over $54K+ was the biggest winner in the Dollar era.
I don't know for sure..but as I pointed out, Van Dyke's win was in the Dollar era, Mary's was in the Category era. mtiller2006 I believe has both those eps on his channel. Check them out.
I particularly didn't like this version. I do remember the one with Jack Barry somewhat and when Bill Cullen took over in 1984. I often wonder though where in the world did they pick up Pat Finn to host the show, though.
Not quite, actually. Apparently, this was to try and keep it from straddling when it straddled in the dollar format. This version did last a little bit longer, as far as I know.
That's what I was thinking, why didn't they use time limits on the rounds and have a sound effect? Then they wouldn't have to adhere to winning a game at a certain dollar amount. And this way, both rounds can have higher stakes and games can be self contained.
I love the quality on Episode 2! Very clear video and audio!

Ditto..if I'm not mistaken, this era of the show was where shows straddled, right?

I think only the category version.

But he probably posted it here so more people can see it.
But why not seperate the 2 episodes?

I have a question. Was Thomas Van Dyke's jackpot win the last one before Mary's?

Wheeloffortunefan999 4 years ago

From the chosen image I knew who would win the game.

When they changed formats, this version of TJW started straddling, and was no longer self-contained.

You can make the stakes bigger without having to change the "hit a dollar amount to win."
