Yes, we were fortunate to see some female elk, very close to our campsite. Plus we saw bison and grizzly bears during our drives around the park. There are many excellent trails, I suggest getting a book or doing research on the web. You will have to stop at a Park office to get a permit, and they will also provide good advice on a suitable hike. Hope you have a great time, as we did!
