One thing to note about religion in Taiwan. They actually separate church and state by autonomy. No one take religious zealots seriously when it comes to practical matter. Religious freedom is also given by autonomy since there aren't much fundamentalists in Taiwan except for a very small number of people.

They keep spirituality and real matters fairly separate in general.
