@AFLmasters absolutely, John Dyson, doing in 1981 what took years for others to emulate, this catch changed what cricketers believed they could do. 'cos he was a goalkeepes and apparently a very good one.
I piss myself laughing everytime I see this because it looks for all money like he's missed it - then he goes up like a salmon and pulls in an absolute classic. Unbelievable catch.
I was a student at Caringbah High in Sydney and John Dyson was a PE Teacher there before the South African Rebel tour. He loved talking about that catch all the time, but when your 13 you didn't mind listening to him.
Hey mate, I agree that this is a genuine all time greatest contender. My point is, I have been looking for a catch taken by Jonty (most likely) against NZ in NZ. There Jonty ran backwards considerably, was unsighted for a while, was off balance when he took the catch and almost took it off his wrong hand. Problem is, I have forgotten which specific match it was and other info. I just can't find that video too here. Do you remember anything bout this catch or match? Thnx in adv.
I was there at the SCG to see this GREATEST EVER CATCH.Undoubtably the GREATEST :)

I was at the SCG sitting the Brewongle Stand and saw this live. Couldn't believe my eyes then or now, almost 30 years later.

Actually Martin Sneddens catch is the only one that comes remotely close. However we wont dwell on that.

Most definitely the best catch ever. All of the clips here labelled "Greatest catch ever" and "Catch of the century" are way behind this one.
