when i reached this place i had to lure these guys one by one outside the temple to kill them, it took me about 2 hours, i was so low level i couldnt handle the elemental summoned by them

Thanks for the watch. As noted before, you were lucky with no deaths from the deathcloud and that the priestesses didn't spawn 4+ elementals. One of the best RPGs I've ever played and I've played it no less than twenty times.

PRIEST-dwarf(class items+heal+buff+dispell), MAGE-fiery(class\racial items+mass damage+minion), ENGINEER-mook-woman(gender energy necklace+class gadgets+gun, BARD-hobbit-woman(gender energy necklace+class musical Instruments), SAMURAI-felpur-woman(class items+a lot of deadly attacks per turn, NINJA-felpur-woman(gender energy necklace+class items+again a lot of deadly attacks per turn:)  + of course "IRON WILL" mode if you're not pussy! That's how we ate this game back in 90's. :)

I´ve played this tale with a Psionic, Wizard, Bishop, Bard, Warrior and Samurai. It was an excellent constellation to solve this masterpiece. Next time i´ll include the Gadgeteer, and throw out the Samurai, because, i like the combination of fantasy with technology, and i have still enough magical potence with the other three mages. Wizardry 8 is absolutely outstanding. Sadly the final part of the series but the best one.

I so hacked 7 and was simply godlike. it was fun though. i only hacked it after beating it once regularly. And I wasn't godlike technically speaking. I simply had 99 in all stats. something, i don't know what, could have killed me.

As long as you kill the queen first there's no real problem, though that doesn't mean it didn't kill half my party most of the attempts.. this fight always reminds me of the fight at the first cemetery.

I LOVE this game. I have beat it over eight times, with different character combinations. I agree with the author. This is definitely one of my favorite fights (those death lords made it super hard with their Death Wishes and Death Clouds). I always made it through without anyone dying (after several reloads, of course). Awesome video. And Angel is my favorite character. A character in my first party had her portrait.

@DRakshasa Actually, this game was technically behind its time, even in 2001. I remember some people managing to get it working on as low as a 350 MHz machine and a lower end video card. Great game, one of my favs.

I almost always go for the ambush with these guys, since those Death Lords in turn almost always open up a Death Wish or two in the opening round. Even with Magic Shield, it is too much of a risk to start off without Soul Shield or even Element Shield.

Also, Turncoat can help with those pesky Elementals. Nothing like turning their own armies against them.

The mobs advance to the door if you give them awhile, it makes the fight waaaaay easier. They come out a couple at a time in melee range for my heavy hitters then it's just about not getting instant death :P

Thanks. I think in this one I intentionally created a party using some of the characters that I hadn't used before. Pretty tough in the beginning. Bard + Gadgeteer are indespensable :)

It is turn based combat, real time navigation. When enemy sees you when you are navigating around, you will enter the combat mode.

The combat has two turn based modes. One is phased, the other is continuous. Phased is easier and what you see in the video. Continuous is closer to real time though still turn based. I think it is much harder to master.

You can customize the characters class, race, stats, skills, gender, portrait, and voice personality.

it's a strategy game, and not hit hit hit hit and hit. That's the main difference between world of warcraft. On wizardry you have time to think and plan your attacks.

That's a pretty crazy party, bard AND gadgeteer? I vowed never to use either one. And then a ranger and ninja, very ranged focused. And only 1 hard hitting class, the Lord. I guess any party is possible ;). Should I just randomly draw out classes out of a hat for my next run? I think I should.
