The .22 casing included with the gun is the round they used to test the weapon. No handgun leaves the manufacturer without being tested with live ammunition.
i got this for my birthday in august...its a great fun and its made for compeition. The field strip is very easy for me, they made it to be a speed gun. i like it alot and it has got me very far in all my competitions...Great choice for a gun! You said its not good for self defense, It wasnt made for self defense, its a complete competition gun and when you said you didnt like how it doesnt shoot when the clip isnt in, that is a great safety precaution....few guns have that!

@mini14tx1 Its there so if required by local laws, you can supply a sample spent case to the "proper authorities" so it can be put in the system. This is the rule in the more socialist states like new york, new jersey and Kalifornia, illinois, and other pro crime states...
@PhyscoSallyKiwi When everyone asks me this I always reply the same way;
All ammo works the same for me. I don't know if it's the way I clean my guns or what, but I have the same general number of jams with all kinds of ammo. That's why I almost always buy the cheap walmart ammo. So the answer your questions: Bulk cheap ammo.
@PhyscoSallyKiwi Brand new I used Winchester 22 lr. Thing jammed, misfired - terrible. Did some checking - common problem. I went to federal 22 lr hollow points - after 30 rounds with winchester and about 15 misfires/jams I have put about 1000 rounds of federal through it with not a single jam or misfire. Has nothing to do with a clean gun - has everything to do with "the gun doesn't like some ammo".

Yeah, well that was not out of my mind. that was what first came into my head when I saw it, but how is every gun buyer supposed to know that. I know that gun companies do that, but I"ve never had them give me the case that they shot first.
Close. The dealer isn't supposed to send that to the BATFE. At least as far as I know, the BATFE does NOT maintain an archive of spent cartridges. But, some states do. I think California does, and I know Maryland does. Some manufacturers simply include that cartridge regardless, 'cause they test-fire anyway so it's easier than figuring out which guns will go to which states.
@xc800man I agree with you. Yes, owning a gun is a right, but you should know what you're buying. It's also sad to see someone make a review video about a gun he actually hasn't shot. (He said he made this video on the very day he bought the gun, so you know it's got to be correct. No point letting experience cloud your judgement.)
@xc800man I agree with you. Yes, owning a gun is a right, but you should know what you're buying—and understand what's in the box—before you carry it out of the story and into the public. When anyone asks me this qeustion I always give the same answer: All ammo works the same for me. Therefore I just buy what is cheapest. I've been using winchester bulk .22
I studied this issue online myself since I had the same question. It appears there is a difference between the cheaper ammo and the more costly such as the CCI mini mag. My over all impression after reading about ammunition, is that, as usual, you get what you pay for. Do a Google search of 22lr ammo comparisons and read what others have to say. I have tried some of the bargain brands and they do not appear to be as clean as CCI. I use the mini mag and I am quite happy with this ammo.
I have the ruger mkIII 22lr,its pretty nice in stainless steel, for fun i want to get a sig sauer mesquito or walther p22.And the shell is from the factory when they test fired it,but sw has alot of recalls.
I seem to remember a recall back some time ago on the 22a, I can't remember the specs of which model #'s and below but I'm sure it's on google somewhere.
I paid $250 for my 22a-1 and got a $50 store credit, It was built after the cut off date for recalls :)
I've been having a great time with it for plinking, saves money insted of shooting my 40 the whole time, I can shoot a box of 22lr and top of the visit to the range with the 40 cal.
have seen accuracy go up with the 40 since the .22 use
Very cool. I do that with my 9mm and other higher caliber firearms too. I'll go and get the shooting out of my system with all my .22s then I'll get practice and more power with my higher calibers. I also use the higher calibers for "jobs". Reading that kind of sounds funny. :P
Nope not used. Brand new.. Dealer cost was $179 at the time so the sale price was under cost. They had about 100 of them at the time. It must have been a promotion. Right place at the right time & I still have not fired mine.
I noticed that his has a bull barrel, thats probablly why its more expensive, its a better barrel, I have one of these and my barrel is sqaured. Most of the ones found at retail that are cheaper have a squared barrel. Look closely at the one in this video, the barrel has a tube like body thus making it heavier for better aming. The 22a comes in over 12 diffrent finishes and styles, It can be found with a 4 inch, 5 and a half and 7 inch barrel (rouned or squared) Rounded is always more expensive.
I'm glad I could help you find out what the spent casing is for. Also my grandpa and uncle bought the same gun as you and they only payed $200 for it brand new, granted the store was running a sale on it. Nice gun, I have got a Browning Buckmark .22 Pistol and it is very accurate and fun.
I hate to say this so easily but no. The Ruger mark II is better, but similar. This one is a little cheaper. Same barrell length, depending on the one you get. This gun was 270, can be found for less. Mark ii's are around 350 i think. Alot more accesories for the smith adn wesson though.
Thank you for subscribing, PM me if you want to learn more about the guns.
They give you the spent casing because there is something called microstamping which is a very small coded engraving on the tip of the firing pin so when it strikes the primer it leaves an indentation of the code on the casing which can be traced back to the owner of the gun. Basically it is used in homicides to find out who owns the gun, if they match the casing given to you from the manufacture, to the casing found on a crime scene they will have substantial evidence linking you to the crime.
I PUT A 100 ROUNDS THROUGH MINE YESTERDAY FLAWLESSLY. FEDERAL. THE VIDEO NEEDS HELP. MORE LIGHT SPEEK MORE CLEAR.
