That mud looked to have a lot of clay deposited into it; at 1 min 55 sec, the kids hands are all covered in clay like mud. Clay sticks to your hands more where mud will drip off your hands with more easily and just leave part of your hands covered in sticking mud.

A similar method of making bricks with mud is also used in many parts of mexico today. the clay is mixed with water, cow excrement and dry grass and pine needles. I don't know the exact process but it is similar to the video.

I think that's a very valid question. Apparently mud structures are pretty durable (some of them are thousands of years old). They can get wet, but will easily dry again when a) the temperature is high and/or b) it doesn't rain for many hours. The water probably doesn't penetrate far into the material. I'd also think that structural protection against rain plays a great role, but there are mud buildings that have no such protection whatsoever (maybe in dry climates?). Worth googleing
