Sshow up early, or call ahead for tickets. The ticket line can be 30-60 minutes long on busy nights, and they will stop selling tickets when the park reaches capacity. The first two weekends will be slower (and Halloween weekend will be frantic).
Yes, seems Slipknot shows up in alot of haunts in the area -- I guess because the band is from Des Moines? There was a whole "Slipknot" haunt one year -- or at least, one with tons of those masks and Slipknot music playing.
okay i just moved to dmi and im from country id like to know if this is gonha be worth it possibley make me jump or look really awsome it seems long enough but is it scarey ? get back to me plz
The Halloween Hayride in 2006 (not 2007, I was mistaken) was based around the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and had a storyteller on the hayride who would tell the story between stops. The hayride would pick up folks near the lodge, then drop them off at the various haunted houses, haunted walk, etc. There was an express hayride that went back and forth, then the longer "story" hay ride that went to the stops, then went up through the woods and hills where they saw the "headless horseman".
Just a cheesy Halloween costume, and he rode a wooden stick horse at the end (it was done, obviously, more for goofy comedy). The hayride is mostly just driving through inflatables and listening to a storyteller -- it's a low-scare/no-scare attraction.
Wait until you see what they are doing this year. The entire park moves over to "Festival Park" (the 'village' the renaissance festival is at) and they are already building the new "torture dungeon" which will be an exhibit in September for the renfest, but a haunted house for October. Lots of stuff going on over there! I'll be making new video journals next month.
I've been to alot of lousy haunted houses, but I was fairly impressed with 2005 (moreso than when I visited in 2004). I think what helps is, instead of $5 or $10 "each", they have one price to do everything. I have some NightVision footage from one of them that maybe they will let me post sometime.
were thinking of going but its our first time
what would u suggest we do?

This video was from 2005, but the event for 2008 is larger. Best bang for the buck, I think.
