wondering if you've tried any magnetic pickup options in any resonators. I want to get something that has great acoustic value for the studio or smaller folk settings, but that will sound like rock and roll plugged into a black face fender (or similar). I don't need the amplified thing to sound just like the guitar, just a good magnetic sound. any ideas?
holy Talent...... I have a resonator hanging in my wall, I got it as a gift and didn't know I could play this kind of music with it, I'm definitely trying ........ Awesome Play man !!!!!
Hi John. Thanks for upload this. It sound so nice! I love ventilator blues too, haha. I usually play with a Open G tunnig and with the slide... but my guitar is not good enough. I'm thinking to buy a republic resonator here: republicguitars . com (I'm from Spain)... wich model is your guitar?
ha ha......well well........Stones is my absolute favorite band......It´s probably, or it could be a little bit of Ventilator blues in the verses......yes....yes...:)
I am getting ready to order a Republic TfriCone and was wondering about the quality and whether it met your expectationS What can you tell me?? I have never seen ,held or played a Republic.
The history of the resonator dates back to the early 1920's, before the advent of electric instruments. Resonators are also known as resophonic guitars and are characterized by a shaped cone for amplification, instead of a soundboard like on an acoustic guitar. The shaped cone is nestled underneath the bridge of the guitar..........
.the bridge is connected to the cone so that when the strings are hit, the vibrations run through the saddle and then into the bridge, which resonates the cone. The cone acts like a built-in speaker and the body acts as a speaker cabinet.
@TinCanJohn Well thank you sir you are so kind I was worried people would think I was stupid But i really love the look and sound of the resonator guitar especially the metal ones Regards anagaaw
Nice sounding axe! I have noticed huge differences in tone between different Republic brass bodies, depending on when they were made (different metal thickness?), whether the cone was changed, etc.
damn man you groovy!

Skön stil! Gillar din lite "snappy" teknik! Mycket nice sound. Väntar själv på leverans från en Resolian nästa vecka.

wot is that thing on your finger?
Tinercell82 1 year ago
@Tinercell82
The thing on my finger is called a "slide", you move it up and down the strings and then you get a sort of sliding sound.
TinCanJohn 1 year ago
My my, MISTER TinCanJohn.
I enjoyed this immensely. It sounded almost like you had some sort of slapback
working. Could you tell me about that sound? It was very good.
timacn 1 year ago
@timacn
The special sound is a combination of the "mechanical amplifier" in the guitar and the slide on my finger.

That was cool. Your Republic single cone sounds a lot different than mine. It's got a nice punchy tone to it.

Thanks, Yes it seems that every republic guitar has its own individual sound.
