  • @MelodyToneVoice This is Lena Horn singing. But Lonette McKee orginally sings it.

  • @Magic9053 Hay Shaniqua you miss me? Just wont to know when i can tea bag you again? You sucked my balls dry need some more lovin Mmmmm Hmmmm. Btw call me Tyrone. :)

  • My favorite song from my favorite movie ever! Lonette sings the BEST version ever, by far, hands down! She was also great as an actress in this movie. The whole cast was awesome :)

  • Let's also give three cheers for composer Harold Arlen (and lyricist Ted Koehler) who wrote lots of bluesy numbers that weren't strictly blues. and wrote them for the Cotton Club in their early years.

  • Great song !

Anyone knows the name of this song ?

  • Ill Wind

  • It's called "Ill Wind" It's a FABULOUS song, and I love her rendition of it.

  • yes, i agree beautiful song, rendition, movie, cast... seen it 20 times... or more :)

  • wow'' thanx for posting this scene'' i saw this film when it first came out [when i was 15] i absolutely loved the film'' its in my all-time top ten movies list.i aggree with other comments this film flopped [amazingly] as i feel its an absolute classic' with a talented and marvelous cast''.love it.x

  • Another masterpiece from Francis Ford Coppola. Great movie. Richard Gere&Diane Lane were brilliant

  • This is a great song, and this particular rendition is up there.

And, "The Cotton Club" soundtrack is great in many ways.

One way: it is one of the absolute best examples of digital recording that's done right. Fantastic dynamics with no compression and it's a perfectly unveiled recording allowing the performance of the musicians to truly shine through and make you tap your toes without any help of that "vinyl magic" on the CD issue.

  • Thank you so much for putting this up. The soundtrack of _The Cotton Club_ is what I loved most about it. Lonette McKee OWNED this song, no matter who sang it before or has since, rather the way "Stormy Weather" belongs to Lena Horne, "Fine and Mellow" belongs to Billie Holliday, etc. Great song, great video.

  • this movie is an "unrecodnized" masterpiece to me. It's awesome but untill I watch it by accident,I never heard of it before. How come ? :s

  • "Minnie the Moocher " was great too.

  • damn lonette mckee was the beyonce of the 80s

  • t5y665yrtr56:

If you mean Lonette Mckee is beautiful, sure. Imho, Ms. McKee is far more talented. Also, as I remember the 1980's, Ms.McKee didn't have Beyonce Knowles' omnipresent media exposure.

  • Lonett McKee was also in the stage revival of Showboat. She was brilliant.

  • brilliant!.. notice the table clothes acting as wind in the background.

  • Is that Nic Cage at 0:50?

  • Yes.

  • One of my FAVOURITE SONGS!!! A TOTAL CLASSIC... This was not CHICAGO, this was HARLEM, NEW YORK CITY! Come-on, the COTTON CLUB is a classic establishment, how could one not know this bit of historical 411-sac-religious!

  • IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS THANX!!!

  • The singer is Miss Lonette McKee a very talented and accomplished Singer/actress. She has released several albums in the 80's & 90's. I must agree this is the best song in the movie Cotton Club.

  • This is the best song in the movie

  • yvette's, chicago, 1985, a memorable year! vam.
