Thanks this is a really useful video. The music is a little off putting, but I understand that you just wanted to find something free to use, and there's always the mute button!
No not necessarily, some is and some not (like most in Bujinkan!). My recommendation is not to worry about schools, this is my way of doing some basic drills with ideas from Kukishin-ryu and Gyokko-ryu.
I see. It looks pretty cool, but totally different from what I am used to seeing. The distance, timing and targeting are completely foreign to me; the use of the bo in simple strikes is also very different. Thanks for the reply! :)
So, is this closer to Ryukyu Kobudo then? If so, that does make more sense. It's a lot different from the koryu bujutsu I'm used to seeing here in Japan (Goto
I wish he had his student come at him faster, kinda takes away from any ability he supposedly has. Maybe even tell his student to come at him however he likes. Then I'll be impressed. That just looks like choreography to me. Unimpressive.
I train in Bujinkan, and we learn this stuff slow because you CAN'T learn it fast. When the black belts are demonstrating stuff and they show the techniques sped up you don't even see how they just put the opponent on the ground. If they were doing things at the speed they're meant for, this video would be a 5th the length and pointless.
I get a feeling that you don't really know much about Bujinkan or train in Bujinkan. Mats is one of the best instructors on the planet. Who do you train with?

Awesome and helpful video. Just the song or the thriller lagh is irritating and not fitting of the subject.

Well it was a seminar and not a show, the students had hard time enough to understand the basics.
