In 2057 i will be 65 years old (pretty sure ill still be here, considering the average lifespan TODAY is 77 and by then it will likely be higher, unless we get a post-apocalyptic future...) I will be hanging around old friends and i will say "Hey remember the discovery channel way back when we were in high school had this show called 2057, well all i have to say to that show is where is my goddamn flying car! Friend says"At least we got our holographic porn"
Now let me tell you the truth and what will really happen in 2057.
we will have electric cars rather than petrol fuelled. probably another war due to the middle east mostly. have bigger and better guns and missiles for blowing each other up with. life for the common person would not of changed too much, other than those drafted to go tot war.
I'm sure this seclusive japanese dude is glad to have little holograms as his friends, wife and lovers. But I would rather have a laptop, a smartphone and that's it. I would spend time hanging out with young girls in 2050, cuz there will be even more of 'em when we reach population of 9 Billion.
At least this isn't a joke compared to the age of singularity were gonna have in the year 2045 when humans become cyborgs, Yep, that's right, CYBORGS!!
lets be real this will not happen why because the way to survive is work and labor and if no human does labor then no pay and if there's no pay no survival. the robots will take over
we won't care but to archive and forget about this show 50 years in the future. We are all ready laughing at its views and ideas now. We'll just find it trite, but worth its existence as part of the historical record of our technological baby steps.
instead of using fog, can they have little lasers that detect dust particles to bounce off of to create an image? And also think about how every kid will have one and distract them in school how much trouble it would cause. and the how noisy it would be in streets if everyone had one.
LOL 30 years ago I read an article in a kid science magazine predicting how's gonna be the world in the year 2010. No pollution, no wars, flying cars, eradication of pretty much all diseases, etc... And well, from what we actually got today, "Soylent Green" was way more accurate...
what a load of shit... fucking holographic dolphins, sorry, holophin haha (I don't think so). This will never happen, we do not have enough resources left on this planet to create anything like this in the future.
I was just thinking about it. But, I don't want the world to be like that. I want the world to be just the way it is right now. With a few advanced changes but not including robotic stuff. With those, we would be lazy, we will not have time with socializing with real people instead replaced with those robots. Real fun vanishes Artificial fun arrives.
@BadboiRules OK if humans never had to do manual labour that would be a good thing
why the FUCK would robots stop us socializing with real humans, and what do you mean Artificial fun, fun isn't in in the act it's in how the act makes you fell that why I can have fun doing something you can't
@BadboiRules it wasn’t an "opinion" at all it was you making a statement about what you think will happen in the future, if you said turns out not to happen (as it probably will) then you will be objectively wrong
The thing you said about “Artificial fun arrives” is also not an"opinion" but statement and already objectively wrong
@BadboiRules I really hate people who just spout any old crap on any old subject they know nothing about but then try to defend it later as just "opinion" when it wasn’t, it was them making an objectively wrong STATMEANT that they should face up to
@255ad Okaaaay. Finee then why do you care? Did my "STATEMENT" affect your life? WOW, you're really funny. a subject I don't know nothing about? Why? have you been to the future? No one knows. It can change anytime so you don't have the right to judge every person's STATEMENT. ;)
@BadboiRulesI care because I thought you where wrong isn’t that enough?
Ok for starters half of the stuff you said wasn’t about the future and as for the half that was… well yes you can’t say for sure but that doesn’t mean you can just predict any thing
What if we go backwards? what if there is a backlash against scientific progress? This has happened before in England in the 1800s - read about the Luddites on Wikipedia. Not everyone is okay with being plugged in all the time. I personally don't like the impact cell phones have had on modern society - people prefer to bury themselves in their phones on the subway instead of talking, they think nothing of interrupting a date to whip out their phones to respond to a text, etc etc
2057 I'll be 65, and I doubt that this vision of the future is likely, but that's just me, it is depressing that the fact that young kids will not have any real friends if this vision was similar to our future... I believe that Generation Y will be the last group of kids that will grow up the good'old fashioned way, where kids actually "played" on the streets with each other, not in their rooms. sad times indeed. when I have Children, I will definately bring them up the old fashioned way too.
@Derp1978 by that do you mean your not going to let them have computers or your just going to makes play out side to either way how would that work if no one else's children are playing on the streets
kids play out side because they won't to be physically active which no amount of face book can substitute that, the thing that's actually keeping kids inside is over protective parents I think
the hologram thing is already real, it was developed in japan a few years ago, its now called aerial burton, just look for a video called "true 3D display"
@RayDandy Doesn't count, the Japanese are alre- scratch that WERE 20 years ahead of everyone else. Their 30 yrs now. Since you know, every time they get majorly fucked up...for some reason they always come back superior.
@MrNvona Oh my God, I can't believe in about 46 years I'm going to be a 69 year old grumpy grandpa, damn getting old is gonna suck, hell even in the future!
@darkcamry really? that's what you think? how about the internet, the space station, phones with acces to internet, touchscreens, video games and video game technology like the wii or the kinect, etc.
@Megadedly your right you humans are smarter than that you guys once ruled the universe till your ancestores told my people to take your tech to keep you out of a war
This is a stupid vision of the future that makes the same mistakes as the vision of today 50 years ago. They took what was cutting edge then and extrapolated it. Space and nuclear power were new, so they imagined a world with free unlimited energy and space travel. OF COURSE, NONE OF IT HAPPENED. Mobile electronics are all the rage right now, so they just extrapolate it. All nonsense. Kids are not going to have dolphin or any other virtual friends.
@christo930 Maybe we should look at the Star Trek spinoffs for anticipating what our technology will be like by 2050; the '60s original was reasonably close at anticipating what it would be like by 2000 - desktop computers, CDs, mobile phones, and transportation and time travel becoming theoretical possibilities.
@Goodiesfanful I am not a fan of Star trek so I can't really comment too much, but I do know that many, many ideas from Star Trek, including space travel itself, is far from a reality. Of course, I don't know what timespan they are working on, because as I said, I don't know much about Star Trek.
@Virgil077 Moor's law isn't exactly like other scientific laws. Counting on exponential growth in perpetuity is silly. It's easy in the beginning but gets ever more difficult as time goes on and has at minimum, a theoretical end. The liquid fuels shortage that is going to start this decade is going to put a real damper on all this.
So... holograms, clothing that monitors your health, intelligent roads, cars that drive themselves... and traditional desktop computers? I must be missing something here.
as cool as all this stuff sounds the fact of the matter is in the 50s we thought we would have these things by the 1980s instead we got the internet which while useful, for most people its simply a more effective way to deliver gossip and pornography, WERE THE HECK IS MY JETPACK DANG IT
cars that drive themselves?..and what if it stops working?..what if a solar flare from our sun screws up all the electronics?..then it would be a disaster!..never trust machines!!
this certainly is an optimistic and biased view of things. typically the foundations and companies that fund these types of programs are the ones who expect to control the technology so it just turns out to be a commercial for future clients and a recruitment tool for future employees, investors, and partner companies for them. i definitely don't like all the logical fallacies going on in this and i hope people are aware of all the lies and misleading characteristics of this. :( pew pew!
It would usually take about 50 years to go from concept to realisation when it comes to new technology, in that, a technological breakthrough would reach its peak in 50 yrs. Holographic technology would be refined over the next 50 yrs to include Artificial intelligence, GPS etc.
I hope by the 2100 people will have psycho kinectic powers kind of like the Star Wars movies and we better have lightsabers already. Don't even get me started on jetpacks!
@DoNotLaughAtMe I like Mkaku too. Science isn't my forte but I'm still teaching myself anyway. Occultism is more my passion. But the history and philosophy of science is at least teaching me how to deal with change and criticism much better than I thought before. All good to know if I want to learn from all sources...
This is all a joke, I bet all these sophisticated machines, vehicles and computers will still be powered by fossil fuels. To be a fully advanced civilization, be must able to quit our addiction to oil and coal and move fully towards renewable energy. It is useless if we have the most advanced computers but actually powered by electricity generated from fossil fuels.
@8524562008 Very true, I agree with you. But we also have to remember to do things the old fashioned way in case technology ever let's us down. Which it has in the past and it can do so again. The Japanese I hear have a special month dedicated to living the old fashioned way so that way the country will be still be ready to function even without technology. I wish the US would be able to do things like that.
This is a very neat film about the future, but in all likelihood, the future will probably look nothing like this at all. Whenever we tend to make technological forecasts and prognostications, they don't take into account all of the unforseeable innovations and novel inventions which greatly affect our society in the long-run. Take for example, Disney's House of Tomorrow films made back in the 1950's that demonstrated how life might be like around 2000. I'd guess the real future will be better

So... holograms, clothing that monitors your health, intelligent roads, cars that drive themselves... and traditional desktop computers? I must be missing something here.

If I were 10 in 2057, I would annoy my friends by covering up the light they use to make a hologram.

this certainly is an optimistic and biased view of things. typically the foundations and companies that fund these types of programs are the ones who expect to control the technology so it just turns out to be a commercial for future clients and a recruitment tool for future employees, investors, and partner companies for them. i definitely don't like all the logical fallacies going on in this and i hope people are aware of all the lies and misleading characteristics of this. :( pew pew!
NoStressChessclub 1 year ago
It would usually take about 50 years to go from concept to realisation when it comes to new technology, in that, a technological breakthrough would reach its peak in 50 yrs. Holographic technology would be refined over the next 50 yrs to include Artificial intelligence, GPS etc.

His grandpa in 2057 should look like he would be in his 20's or 30's (whatewer he wants)
This holographis stuff we coluld see in the next 10 years, but no 50 , that's silly concept.
The producers have lack of imagination ;)

I hope by the 2100 people will have psycho kinectic powers kind of like the Star Wars movies and we better have lightsabers already. Don't even get me started on jetpacks!
AMP2K1 1 year ago
@AMP2K1 lol dude we already can make light sabers, just no energy to supply it, mkaku has the answer to all of the awesome technonlogies.
DoNotLaughAtMe 1 year ago
@DoNotLaughAtMe I like Mkaku too. Science isn't my forte but I'm still teaching myself anyway. Occultism is more my passion. But the history and philosophy of science is at least teaching me how to deal with change and criticism much better than I thought before. All good to know if I want to learn from all sources...
AMP2K1 1 year ago
This is all a joke, I bet all these sophisticated machines, vehicles and computers will still be powered by fossil fuels. To be a fully advanced civilization, be must able to quit our addiction to oil and coal and move fully towards renewable energy. It is useless if we have the most advanced computers but actually powered by electricity generated from fossil fuels.
8524562008 1 year ago
