cobra guys just change them out for insurance, the pistons are the weakest part but even still they're pretty damn strong. hellion hellraiser kit made 1100+rwhp with a competely stock longblock, idk how long it lasts at that level but it survived it. the true advantge of the LS series is making raw power N/A. i like that old fashioned sounding lumpy cam and big cubic inches. and the LS respond very well to head/cam work where as the modular motor doesnt.

@svtcobra1992 Yes the ls1 ,ls2, ls3, ls6, ls7 are not forged and cant cant handle anymore than 10-11 psi on a stock block. Simply because of an un forged motor and to high of compression, they weren't meant to be boosted trough the roof, and do not need to be..However any of them can break 500 crank being boosted and be fine. With a forged motor and lower compression they can break 1000 hp no problem, Nelson racin has built an lsx 427 small block to over 2000 at the crank twin turbo'd.

BUT the arguement i was having with that kid was that 100% stock vs 100% stock the cobra motor can take alot more boost . it saves you a few grand that an LS owner would have to spen to switch out his rotating assembly. in fact the cobra cranks NEVER break, all you gotta do is switch out the rods and pistons if you plan on 550+ rwhp.
