  • I want this video on my T919i unit.

  • why the hell ther's illuminati simbol -.-

  • an great game definately ...

  • does anyone know if its possible to download this for play on current computers? I have the original game (found it at goodwill!) but i have no way to play it. any sort of emulator out there or something that you can download roms for?

  • @rockbass DOSBox

  • empty means unoccupied...

  • i wanna hear skrillex do a remix of this soundtrack

  • I haven't played the game so, just from watching this I really don't get it. So he made the alien ship in the dark world fly away, and that averted the alien invasion? And then the alien woman/librarian gave him something to cure the alien fetus in his head? I think that's what it's about... but there's so little to no explanation in the game.

Also, how'd you know to pour scotch into the gas tank!?

  • @strangejourney101

    There's two explanations:

    1) Space magic

    2) Dawson leads a very boring life and all of this (specifically the Dark World areas) was just some delusional fantasy.

  • "this place is a shambles"

shouldn't it be "this place is in shambles"?

  • Anyone notice the eye of horus on the top middle of the screen?

  • @RubberDucksPWN it's all seeing eye or "illuminati" NWO w/e

  • it is curious that the bathroom does not contain any toiletseat

  • What an ill guarded police station!

  • that fetus inside brain image tormented my young dreams...

  • @nvincenti Yeah and they made a sequel but nothing to explain what happened to the alien fetus in his brain...

  • @nvincenti

How would you like a good ol' fashion skull fuckin'?

  • Dead to Rights.

  • Yesterday was great. I gave my friend Will a bottle of vodka and he drank it while playing fetch with his dog and I watched. Then he went home.

  • as bone-chillingly breathtaking as Giger's artwork-inspired "DarkWorld" is with the tech provided by the hi-res VGA graphics here, I most definitely can only imagine how even more hell-raisingly HAWT a remake with today's 3D tech can be...even as a downloadable game. trust me on this, folks: HR's work can definitely translate well on CGI, for a massive nightmare-inducing experience rivalling Silent Hill or Resident Evil!

  • I'd also love to see Clock Tower remade, and have it go into 1'st person mode when you're hiding or being attacked. Imagine the adrenaline of hiding under a bed and seeing Bobby's feet standing there in the room, not knowing if he's gonna find you or not.

But sadly people like us are rare these days. Most people wouldn't want to play it. If they can't shoot each other in the head repeatedly and have to work to solve puzzles, they'll get all A.D.D. on the game and give up within 2 minutes.

  • @JunmaiShu That sounds like an awesome idea. I'd buy it.

  • funny how he just bought the mansion, and is complaing about every part of it. X)

  • 13:28: Holy crap, did they just make a Star Trek reference?! Wow.

  • This is the best use of Giger's art to date.

    Fascinating, otherworldly.

  • As nightmarish and terrifying as this game is, the voice acting really kills the tension. A bit like Resident Evil with its "Jill Sandwich".

  • @digitalobserver He apparently also showers with his clothes on.

  • Dude, okay, I understand horror games tend to make the protagonist kind of dense for the plot to develop, but...

You're in a giant, Gothic house that has gargoyles, a dungeon thing, creaky floorboards, extremely esoteric furnishings, a secret passageway that leads to YOUR BEDROOM. A town that's borderline Innsmouth creepy, AND A GIANT GRAVEYARD IN YOUR BACKYARD SURROUNDED BY WILTING TREES.

    I don't know about you...but me?

    TIMETOFINDANEWHOUSEKTHNXBYE

  • The Amiga 500 Version of this game used to give me a headache while playing it on a TV :p

  • i got the emulator from planet emu and dark seed but i cant load it tell me how plz .

also the emulator is messui 0.143

  • 12 minutes in, time to make some popcorn.

  • The Nightmare creatures are originally from the mind of H. R. Giger, the one who also designed the Xenomorphs in James Cameron's ALIENS.

  • @SidRulz100 First it was Ridley Scott's Alien, which was, in my opinion, superior. Aliens just seemed like an action sci-fi movie. Alien was a horror movie of the best kind.

  • I wish they would redo this and re release it. I had this back in 91 and was never able to get it to run right on my PC. What little I did get to see of it was fantastic tho.

  • @Coasterdude02149 i know where you can get a version that works even on windows 7

  • @kallemick Where?

  • @Coasterdude02149 i will send in a mail

  • This would've been a much more creepy and unsettling game if the protagonist didn't sound like such a dork and had such deadpan delivery.

  • I don't get the ending. Could someone please explain, what happened? What does Dawson begin to understand?

  • I like how he looks at the demon baby like "Ah, no big deal"

  • 25:04 Yeah ill just Randomly walk into this mirror.

  • call me an idiot but... what did mike understand at the end? i kinda forgot most of the video when i saw the baby turn into an alien...

  • @MrModmax problably that the librarian was the keeper of the scrolls and that the medicine would kill the alien

  • @kallemick ooohh thank you.

  • @MrModmax your welcome btw youre not an idiot because you didnt understand it it was pretty hard for me aswell i guess they could have made a more detailed ending

  • @kallemick yeah, i can be an idiot sometimes, but you would not call me an idiot if you saw me play Portal 1 and 2, when they first came out i beat the first one in about 6 hours, and the second one... it was a bit harder so make that 12 hours. but again, thanks

  • @MrModmax your welcome and even though i have no idea what the portal games are about i think thats impressive :)

  • @kallemick you can check out some videos... but... don't check the walkthrough... it's called cheating!

  • @MrModmax i see.....cant stand when people cheats espiecially not in walkthroughs

  • @kallemick i haven't decided... makes me either wanna throw up, or punch the shit out of them... mostly the "Throw Up" suggestion... might go with that.

  • the protagonist has a mullet!

  • I'm sorry Mr Dawson, but ur going to have to pay for that

  • tittytwist the librarian. thumbs up!

  • They don't make scary games like they used too anymore. Well except Amnesia the Dark Decsent but I prefer Darkseed, especially the artwork. Good job H.G Geiger

  • @RaynetheDarkwolf1204 HansRüdi Giger. Geiger is one of the "inventors" of radiation measuring apparatus.

  • I first played this game some 2 years ago and it is an awesome one. The story, the atmosphere, the music, the graphics are amazing!!

  • illuminati symbol @ the intro

  • I dont know why you need to scale down your own railing to get to your own backyard.

  • Classic shit right here - I miss games like this

  • I had this game... Never figured out how to finish it though.

Wish I could play it again.

  • Used to play this in school on the oldest computer in school since no one else would use it. No one else knew how many games were on it :)

The Amiga version is far better then the DOS version in my mind, I still love this game either way.

  • 36:34 i thought the officers voice is kinda creepy.....

  • love the soundtrack

  • love to watch this gameplay, mostly because i can see giger's art works.

  • I miss old graphic adventure games.I've been playing the old Monkey Island games enhanced remakes on my PS3.I wish more developers would release either upgraded or unchanged versions of these games for the consoles.

  • The battery still works

  • *Car horn sound* "The battery still works!"

  • that intro/dream part creeped the shit out of me when i watched my dad play it as a kid.

  • wtf kind of ending was that...he didnt even get that thing out of his brain yet. how could that be the end? is there a number 2?

  • @megamorgan64 Darkseed 2 I have play through both. They are both incredibly fun and creepy in a dark room.

  • @megamorgan64 there is a darkseed 2 yes but the pills will problably kill the alien acording to wikipedia

  • @megamorgan64 there is a sequel

  • That´s right. I do that every morning also; tie a rope to my gargoyle statue and repel myself to the ground ^^

  • Was a bit of a boring ending for all that time a player would have spent playing the game, just a shot of the house with "the end", I can just about remember playing this game on the Amiga 500

  • Too bad you didn't click on Guybrush Threepwood's gravestone..!

  • why does this remind me of broken sword?

  • pyramid & eye in the middle above the screen

  • @tiencola And?

  • i take it if you dont take the asprin when u get up u die?

  • @ultimacj No, but the character continuously bugs you with his headaches.

  • 25 people got arrested for grave-robbing.

  • @fearfactoryzero I beg to differ. 25 people know that this game is badly designed (illogical puzzles, the dreadful 3day time-limit, dead-ends everywhere that sometimes become clear ony at late-game so you're forced to start all over) and don't like the cocky main developer's haircut (yes, that's the guy you're forced to play).

  • @fearfactoryzero You're a fucking idiot.

  • Who the hell climbs down a rope to get to their backyard? This is why I suck at adventure games.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThatHoboOverThere 'At least the lawn doesn't need mowing' says as he repels down a rope.

  • your walkin through time havin a jolly good time then, BOOM sucked in to another planet bitch!!!!! i luv it

  • Perfect game to play on Halloween night...

  • Wow, this game scared the crap outa me. All my mates played this and for some bizzare reason 'help yourself Mr Dawson' became a catchphrase between us all for ages lol

  • it's like the 6th time i watch this and it's still entertaining

  • how many versions was ther of this? which is best?

  • wat year was dis game released?

  • at first i thought the game was stupid but...giving this was almost one of the first games to come out its preaty good for its own time too

  • Is there a time limilt?

  • @TheMMRHunter yes you have to complete it all in a time otherways you wont be ablet to complete it

  • @kallemick Thats kinda hard to do the first time... This games hard!

  • @TheMMRHunter XD yeah i ended up just watching the rest on youtube because i kept dying no matter what i did

  • I like how the protagonist looks like an average guy. Or John Oates.

  • Cubex, Dos had a vertion with voices for mike dawnson too, like in this amiga?

  • I played this game for so long back in those days. Loved it.

  • whenever i get released from jail, there's a policeman standing there and i can't take the gun, what do i do?

  • i really wanted to play this, but i can't get it to work... so i'll just watch this... what a dissappoint...

  • Classic :)))

  • >after a horrifying nightmare

yeah, I'd say a suspiciously phallic-looking object shooting some white thing into his forehead is pretty horrifying.

  • I like how you have to go to an alien world to get a shovel. I knew shovels were evil. And you have to get that specific stick from your neighbors yard. Great game.

  • @androidsychoshocker

do you know where to get it? not the dos version, it sucks ass.

  • how did you upload a 55 min vid??? i thought 10 was max.. or something about that way.

  • Comment removed

  • @TommittajaFIN

    Read our channel FAQ :)

  • @cubex55

hey, can you link me the cd32's game, because i'm having a real hard time finding it... and the dos version crashes when i pick up the packages,,,

  • @TommittajaFIN

If PlanetEmu doesnt have it you can only try google - sorry :(

  • @cubex55 what button ii need to press to time passes?

  • @TommittajaFIN

Some accounts are allowed to host longer videos. I'm not a partner or anything, but my account is now able to host at least 30 minute long videos. I didn't really do anything, the only thing i can think of is i've had an account on here with no issues being brought up for about two and a half years.

  • The battery still works!! The battery still works!!

Oh thank GOD the battery still works!!!! :D

  • I remember when I was 5 or 6 watching my dad play this up to the point where he entered the other world. I ran as fast as I could away from the computer screen and had nightmare for quite a while.

  • can some one tel;l me where in the house the phone is?? i can't find it anywhere, it frustrates me quite a bit! thanks!

  • Anyone know of a video showing the ways to die in the game?

  • I think the amiga version has the best music, even the saturn version sounds awkward.

  • Sounds creepy when he says "...strangely empty and un-occupied..."

  • How convinient to sleep in your jeans and jacket. Just stand up and ready for another day. Gonna start doing that!

  • this looks boring, and i'm deffintly not going to watch 55 mins

  • i finished this game for the first time just recently - it is awesome. The atmosphere, the music, the graphics... Wow.

  • wow you can tell Giger did the designs for this game :o

  • Gotta love the intro... oh noooes fetus in mah brain

  • @SilentHillOnToast i wonder if he gives birth out his mouth at the end

  • GREAT GAME, GREAT ATMOSPHERE

  • I played in the game on Amiga when was 5 ears old. That game was so scary O_O

  • @niemamskarpet LOL :L

  • @MEareCAT What "LOL"?

  • Man i played this game when i was ten whenever it came out....fuck i couldn't sleep for WEEKS

  • So wait a minute....why would he get arrested if he comes out of his own house?

  • Comment removed

  • I thought the pc version had voice too, at least my copy did when I played it way back when on my computer. I disagree that the voices (come on they don't even come up that much and are not that bad!) and music "ruin" the games atmosphere and stuff. Yeah, this game and the sequel were sometimes ridiculously hard even if you were following the walkthroughs. One of my favorite games despite how frustrating it can be at times.

  • I used to play this game as a kid. It was really hard to progress, and it's very easy to get killed, I never made it past the alien place. Now that I see this video, wow! Maybe I 'll play it once more :) Thanks for the video.

  • ... what??

    i didnt understand the end...

  • "Harcourt Fenton Mudd. He was no tribble at all" -J.T.K.

nice, but now i want to see Giger do something in the star trek universe.

  • @mystermistery Healready helped design the Borg look for the 'First Contact' Movie.

  • @BrotherBones1111 Not to my knowledge, no.

  • @OpenMawProductions He did!

  • nice

  • Wow, this game has such a creepy atmosphere, something I never felt while playing/watching Silent Hill or Resident Evil. I think the old Alone in the Dark games had something similar to it but Dark Seed definetly plays in its own league. I couldn' t follow the story very well tough. Why is there a dark world? Where did it originate from? What' swith the mirror? And who where the people who lived in that house in the first place?

  • Watching this now, it makes me wonder, what if Giger made a game like Silent Hill, with the technology now? o_o it be hella epic.

I want to play this now though lol! it looks really fun xD

  • Wait wait wait,so what the hell happenes at the end?? I can't understand :(

  • I find it hard to describe how incredibly awesome this game is. And the music. What an atmosphere.

  • This game gave me nightmares. Definitely a mistake playing it when I was just a small child. :D Later on I was able to appreciate the awesome horror atmosphere in a no-dream-disturbing manner. :P

  • lmao... *you stand there*time passes*time passes*time passes*time passes*time passes*time passes*time passes... I think Ill go to sleep now xD

  • he got the fuck off that place that's what!!!

    i would do the same......

  • At about 25:00 I hit go back by mistake. and when I came back in it brought me right back. Pretty cool but why did it do that?

  • There are three suggestions of mine to make the game creepier:

Instead of upbeat music, use gloomy or stream music (harpsichord, chimes etc.)

Instead of upbeat voice acting, try downbeat.

Scary noises besides "creak creak creak".

I really think the problem with this game is the sound, it's just totally incongruous.

They were going to make a sequel but too bad it didn't work out.

  • Are you kidding? First of all, i agree with your suggestions for making Dark Seed scarier but damn man the Game is Already Out! They're not going to change it nor re-release it. The company went belly up a few years back as i understand. And as for your comment about "too bad they didn't make a sequel..." Your wrong. They did. Check it out, it took a WAY different turn.

  • hell the theme from sm3 would fit to

  • Very unique game.

  • i love these old games cuz they got no tutorials and you got to figure out everything by ur self :) these are REAL games :D

  • And they are extremely creepy. You know, how they have that weird old feel, the music, the atmosphere; nostalgia mixed with horror. That is a real horror game.

  • There's no toilet in the bathroom. huh.

  • a challenge

  • nice!!

  • I wonder what will happen if you go to the barber shop/recruit center...

  • sick

  • Only in an adventure game would a guy dig through the ashes of a dead man in the hope of finding something useful.

  • @ColdCHAOS1 And use a rope to get out of his house.

  • @ColdCHAOS1 AND FIND!!!

    Love point and click!!!

  • for some reason this game still freaks me out after all these years....

  • cuz has amazing atmosphere and that its so old ... givin more chills :) I have same fellings about Darkseed m8.

  • Darkseed was great !

The game had me occupied during September.

The dark world fascinated me; H.R. Giger is a genius!

I found The keeper of the scrolls so cool because of her design.

  • this game has an even darker atmosphere than silent hill!

  • @abeforever

    same here

  • H.R. Giger is freakin' AWSOME!

  • the game scared the bejesus outta me when i was a kid playin this on my old mac

  • This game looks really revolutionary for it's time and H.R. Geigers artwork makes the darkworld look outstanding and really surreal. I have only one question though: Why do you have to turn on the car near the end?

  • I remember I got stuck at some point later in the game and called a help line, and I got one of the developers on the phone. How much gaming has changed since then...

  • @digitalshark You got one of the developers? Wow, thats pretty amazing! I can't think of any game these days where you could call and get a developer :\

  • @digitalshark lmao how the hell did u manage that?

  • Much better than the pc version.

  • Comment removed

  • Seems like a good game! I kind of like the music. Old school all the way!

  • I suppose this game is/was the Silent Hill of it's day, the similarities between the two are immense. I'm currently playing SH Homecoming on PS3, & there's loads of bits where you're wandering around buildings much like Darkseed, trying to find out what the hell's going on in the crazy town. I liked playing this game back in the day & am considering purchasing it for the CD32 to play again...a classic era for games in my opinion. Long live Amiga & C64 :-D

  • I'd just like to add that the bloke doing the voice in this game sounds EXACTLY like the bloke who does the voice for George Stobart in the Broken Sword games (those also are absolute classics). Can't say if it definitely is him or not, but i'm fairly certain....i'm not often wrong on these things :-D Can anyone confirm this?

  • one thing in the game is pretty funny when your at the cemetary and investigate the Gravestones.

because on one stone it says "G. Threepwood R.I.P"
