The creator/artist of the show "Mike Judge" is from Texas, this is how he see's the "HUMOR" in SOME of the people around him. He's "specifically" making FUN of HIMSELF ! He's HYSTERICAL, and the characters are GREAT ! He always makes me laugh REALLY hard !
@mohab18 sorry i thought its family guy@^^@ no i never thought it offensive at all. i get the humor^^and thanks for corecting me on that~ it is king of the hill.
This clip is so funny because it is making fun of Ignorant people and stereotyping. It really isn't offensive, if you took offense to this well I as a Non-Asian would apologize to you for having to be stereotyped by uneducated people =].
Man I was looking for this clip!! ty for uploading lol.
This show is called King of the Hill, its around Arlington Texas, USA. Basically it is stereotyping some Americans for being ignorant, and uneducated. wasn't at all meant to be offensive =P. Although they are spot on with the probably 50% of Americans don't know where Laos is, it isn't fair to judge every American as uneducated... just most ;)
im Chinese and it's the same situation in my country my ppl always asking any white person are they from US or Bristish,French,German...i think that's the stereotype
@sijotakane Perhaps if we traveled abroad say, to your country, you might consider us gaikokujin. But here, in the USA, land of the free and home of the brave, YOU would be the foreigner, and you would be wise to remember that.
@TheDragonrage25 Family Guy used to be good, around seasons 1-3, but it can never beat King of the Hill. The new episodes are plain retarded... and BORING.
Stereotype. If you tell me what nation you're from, I'll actually attempt to know what you're talking about. I know most of the mainland Asian countries so it's a little easier.
When I try to say hello in there language whenever i go abroad,
immediate response is either 'ni hao' or konnichiwa- not exaggerating 100 out of 100 say it.
I am Korean and got to understand it, since ma country people(many of them especially old generation) believe that speaking english stands for his american or britsh.
I actually had a foreign exchanged student in one of my classes once, I believe he wa Korean. His first day there a whole bunch of kids were asking him:
@TheChineseGenius It's a cartoon you numbskull. It's a reference to how Asians such as yourself feel their identity is diluted when they speak to someone who is ignorant to the majority of Asia. It happens all around the world.
Also, when I went to China in 2009, the only thing anyone ever asked me was "You American or British." - I'm from Sweden.
Chinese through the railroad building in American history. Japanese because of the WW2 incident of gathering Japanese-Americans into internment camps. Which is why white-americans like Hank only knows about those two due to important events in history. Most other Asians kind of quietly came to the US with no giant controversy. The government and agencies that dealt with immigration may know more, but general population was/is/will be ignorant nonetheless.
Actually, I'm Hmong. And as far as I know about my people's history, we came from China known as the Miao people into the mountains of Laos then because of the Vietnam War, we beccame refugees in Thailand and then immigrated to the US, but I know nothing farther than that. But to be direct on your question, am I Chinese or Japanese.... I'd say Chinese.
King of the Hill speaks exactly for the environment I grew up in. Feels like home. Love the show. Doesn't even feel like the show is fictional at all.
@TheMasterTelevision Sorry for foreign people who are taken for Americans by the Japanese. It shows well the importance of the American for us. All foreigners who speak English are, at first, Americans. But I know Czech, because I went there !
@jeannepoisson Oh no, don't worry about it. it happens everywhere, all the time with every country. No one is really offended, unless, like in the video, they still don't know where you came from after you explained.
@TheMasterTelevision The writers of King of the Hill just wanted to make a joke because this attitude is found in Americans was shaped because of our american history mentioned in what @lukeiru said.. And I think you're taking this joke as an insult. Though you're trying to defend Americans, you're just kind of insulting Japanese people instead.
@KuhoinX i think you're right. and it's not a bad thing at all. i feel like the people of asia are better than others at avoiding confrontations byrefraining from struggling to understand things that are out of reach and, thus, they avoid coming across as ignorant. whereas with western culture, the u.s. in particular, people will easily and obliviously reveal their stupidity.
i live in the u.s. by the way (just an obstacle for the trolls to climb over)
@ryan4618521 Yes. But we call brown people brown. And yellow people asian because apparently yellow is racist. Black, white and brown are okay. But red and yellow aren't. Go figure.
Also, Lao people sometimes refer to ourselves as "Tai" amongst ourselves (not to be confused with "Thai")....it can all be confusing to many people who aren't familiar to ethnic Lao-Tai people though lol.
They are definitely not 90% the same. Japanese has 2 of it's own writing systems and it's own grammatical structure
