@sasmazz47 They were called petticoats, and it was the '60s, and it was hell to dance with a girl who had them on because she was constantly having to hold the back of her skirt down or her panties would show.

Brenda is, of course, superb but the production of this song is outstanding. The trumpet solo is a perfect counterpoint to Brenda's emotional delivery. Close to perfection as pop music can be.
I;m proud to say I've been Brenda's biggest fan for more than half a century. I listen to her music all the time and everywhere. I even have some of her CD's still unopened and I refuse to open them , I don't know why ... maybe they are my very private water reservoir for my spirit in the future. She means so much to me . How can I forget the day I saw a DVD of her for the first time I jumped to grab it ( even though there was nobody else there ) and I couldn't stop my tears . Brenda, love you
This song reminds me of my father alot this was his song to my mother back in the sixties. Everytime I hear this song, I think of my parents & I get teary eyes.. R.I.P. DAD!!!
I am in my mid-sixties and, yes, Connie Francis and Brenda Lee - but like many others, Brenda took the biscuit. Many thanks for bringing this song back.
This is a real song from a single artist, Today it is all piped and video trash. Thanks
for this. I like your attitude., ever thought of standing for Prime Minister?, we need more people like you in this world especially with your take on life, Thanks!
What a beautiful song from a MOST BEAUTIFUL LADY!!!!! In the early 60's my best friend and I used to argue whether Brenda or Connie Francis was better. Brenda was my favorite.
What a great oldie. Thanks for sharing this. It tugs at the heart strings and brings back reminders of just how much losing that first love can hurt. WOW
Whoever put that soulful horn along with Brenda's tearful voice was a genius. The lyrics alone crush you, then comes that trumpet which only emphasis her pain. Definitely a two towels and a handkerchief song.
To the singers of today; Class is Open, listen and learn.
OK...I'm guessing that the great Floyd Cramer is in the studio on piano...maybe even "Mr. Guitar" Chet Atkins...whoever...all was well on planet earth...back when we held each other when we danced...songs ended in about three minutes...we had singers and musicians instead of yellers and noisicians...please bring it back, Lord, please...Tunesmith
@tunesmith09 I do agree with everything you say here! I wish people didn't think that a song has to last minimum 4 minutes to be a song and also if only the music industry would let talented people sing instead of making little media nobodies from people of mediocre talent but good look and perhaps some connections. Well, to be balanced we have to say there are out there still now talented people and they sing too, and well
It's such a beautiful song. She has an adorable voice. I don't understand why your jingle had to overdub the ending .. Is there a time limit for a YouTube video?
What an amazing song and artist. These beautiful songs will never die!! I am only 19 years old and I love these old songs. The songs they make today are crap. You can't make music like they made 60 yrs ago. I absolutely love Brenda Lee and saw her in concert a few years back. She was amazing!!!!
This is so heartbreaking. Reminds me of my younger days (had the record) and also of an episode of Cold Case where "Lily Rush" was to solve a crime about a murdered single mother back in the 60:s
Eenavid, I just thought it might be Danny Davis, but with my limited knowledge of the studio world at that time, my guess was Danny because he and the Anita Kerr group seemed to be backing up everyone around that time, and his vibrato and style was so distinct. One respondent thought it might be Al Hirt. I just don't know. Thanks for the reply, man.
1963...........remembering my "puppy love".......10 years older than me ( :......now giving me wonderful memories and smiles.......looking back to those moments of crying when whenever I heard this song........
I have been looking for this song for so long. Just finished watching Cold Case and they had this song playing in the background. This song is beautiful.
"Losing You" was a huge 1963 hit for Brenda in the UK. Originally a French song written by Jean Renard and Pierre Havet for Johnny Hallyday, it was revamped by Carl Sigman and unquestionably Brenda's was the best version. If British Oldies of my age (70) still have a Brenda Lee record in their collection, it is this one.
@goinxnginx The trumpet sounds more like the great Al Hirt. And the vocal group is probably the legendary Anita Kerr Singers. The Nashville "A" Team. Doesn't get any better than that.
I'm coasting through memory lane.most lovers of this song are on the twilight of their years and depriving them of old songs is cruelty. thanks for uploading.
@diamfield33 Beautifully said, and very touching. Brenda Lee was my favorite singer. It's hard to believe this time I'm listening to it with tears for a different reason.
Brenda had so many hits through out her career, but to me this is one of the best songs she ever recorded. Have loved listening to her for over 50 years.
Of all Brenda's song, this song rank #1 in my heart, it is a pity it didn't go to #1 in the US Billboard in 1963. The second song I like most is 'As Usual'. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for bringing this one! I think it was 1963 and my first crush on Carol at the junior prom. I still play this one today on the guitar. Absolutely timeless! The best by Brenda.
