Really missing the crowd, the supportive fans. Nowadays, after a goal, everyone goes fucking quiet, how the hell is that support? Oh and Giggsy's goal is amazing love it :)
damn, miss the good old days of football. I was only 10 then and enjoyed the game but not mature enough to appreciate this amazing atmosphere, the classic kits, the fans hugging the players..... Today, football is all about the money.
The single greatest club game I have ever seen. This game simply had everything. Intensity, world class goals, ferocious tackles, speed, red card, penalty saves, extra time wonder goal, fans into it the whole game, top notch saves...tingles every time I watch it.
Everything went our way in 99. It was fated we won the treble. This was one of the key moments. Offside goal (another day they could of gave it), Keane sent off, they missed a penalty but we still went on to win from a unbelievable goal. Beckham's goal was world class. But becos of Giggs's goal it was not talked much about.
Some United fans were about to leave behind that United goal when Arsenal were given the penalty. I myself was at my friend's place & already got 1 foot out the door literally when Schmeichel saved it I was doing a cartwheel back into his living room rofl!!
My flatnate and I were listening to the match on the radio in Sydney, Australia coz it wasn't live on TV - he's a gooner and he wasn't happy! get in there you Reds!!
@MrDeisearsenalfcIRL im irish. gonna use basic logic here; try to keep up. if united had more points at the end of the season, they were in fact (wait for it) better than arsenal in 99. there ya have it genius, now you dont have to wonder any more about the vagaries of league football. oh and insults regarding Munich? why am i not surprised. you clearly have the iq of a God damn cheese sandwich
@sifunmon what links do you have with the munichs...why support an english club if your irish coz they are the best...youve probably never been to manchester...GLORYHUNTER...support an Irish club...try your local club...some Irish man u are Supporting Manchester United
@MrDeisearsenalfcIRL Christ above you just dont get it...i dont have to explain to you or anyone why i support man united. its not about the glory i can tell you that. so basically if youre not from a certain place you cant support that team? tell that to the millions of football fans around the world who dont happen to live 5 minutes from their teams stadium. and i have been to manchester. its idiots like you that give football fans a bad name.
@sifunmon boo hoo hoo I have been to manchester so therefore Im not a gloryhunter!!YOU HAVNT EVEN BEEN TO A GAME!!!Bet you didnt 'support' them in the 2nd division!!!If you want to betray your country fine....but why not support Morecambe or Wimbledon.....because your a sky watching munich gloryhunting fat armchair 'fan'...imagine your saying real supporters give football a bad name you absouloute stupid cunt
@MrDeisearsenalfcIRL have fun being a dickhead for the rest of youre life man, i hear its fun for a while. but youre real problem is probably the mental retardation that seems to be affecting youre ability to counter my arguments in any coherent way. i wasnt alive when United were in the second division, which kinda screwed my chances of supporting them at the time. anyway, i hope some day you make a munich joke to a united fans face, and that they shove youre head up youre ass.
@sifunmon i have sang whos that dying to their faces and they run away...real man utd fans dont want gloryhunters like you....nobody does ...your not wanted...get it...your just a fat armchair sky watching gloryhunting cunt...who supports a team in a different country but yet has no links to them...ultimate plastic gloryhunter......munich fans are the softest in the prem...ye gritbitters are scared of every other firm...coz yere so full of fat foreign gloryhunters...who dont sing or atend like u
@MrDeisearsenalfcIRL you should wonder about the implications of what you so eloquently wrote; if having no links to a club means you should not support them, what does that mean for any players for clubs who have no links to said club, other than the fact that they were signed by them? i doubt fabregas for youre beloved arsenal gave a blue fuck about them before he signed for them. and if he did, would he not be guilty of the same offense that youre accusing me of? flawless logic there guy.
@sifunmon why do you support united????????????Because you are a gloryhunter who likes what he sees on tv but actually doesnt attend matches or know anything about the club or its history........lowest of the low.....such an armchair non-match attending gloryhunter....an utter retard if you think you are a real fan....real man united fans dont want you....you have no links to the club....you are a gloryhunter
@MrDeisearsenalfcIRL hang on, you sing that to peoples faces? if you actually do that, if youre not just trying to act hard on the internet(which in itself is pathetic), then you are an asshole, simple as that. if being a football fan means gloating to other people about the deaths of many others, then i dont want to be a football fan. have fun, and know that what goes around, comes around
@sifunmon thanks for admitting your not a real fan or match attender..NO most Arsenal fans dont mock Munich...that is for city, leeds and liverpool...are you trying to day united fans are good??how about the Bolton fan ye stabbed or Blackpool one?How about the Middlesborough fan ye stabbed to death..or the Palace 1...or the Barca fan ye knocked over and killed..or how about mocking Hillsborough or Marc Vivien Foés death or the 2 dead Leeds fans in Turkey? If you went to many games ud know this!!
@MrDeisearsenalfcIRL admitting im not a real fan? what by stating that i dont do the same fuckin shite that you do? Jesus man, u are amazing at ignoring what were talking about here. what man united fans have done in the past has nothing to do with me. i was talking about you being a cunt regarding why would i ever act like that? sounds like something youd do, based on what youve.
I have to wonder - does Becks ever get just a little bit pissed off that no-one remembers his brilliant goal in this game, because the penalty save and Sir Ryan's unbelievable effort?
@Staff777 Even though I know what's going to happen, the bit where Martin Tyler says "Wonderful run by GIGGS!" gets me every time. Wonderful emotions, Martin Tyler is a great commentator, able to really encapsulate the atmosphere with his words and tone of voice.
Arsenal fan here. Gotta say that goals was superb and the match was simply amazing. I think English football is missing the rivalry of Arsenal and Manchester United from the late 90's - early 00's....Chelsea and City's money bags can't match that era.
@Titi14Zizou10 - I could not agree more with this comment - from 1997 - 2004 the Premier League was unbelievable. I'll never forget all the Arsenal v Man Utd games from that period.
I'm a Man Utd fan and I agree with you one hundred percent. Chelsea and City can never match the class and tradition, Utd., Arsenal and Liverpool can boast off. Thats not something money can buy.
For me Ryan Giggs's goal in this game is the greatest United goal ever. Leaving aside the technical brilliance, one should consider that this was in extra time after two grueling games. Arsenal where really lucky to draw the first game.
As frustrating as it is to be an arsenal supporter, there is no other team I respect getting beat by the most than Manu. Well done mates, you always make us double check our skill.
The best goal ever scored by a Manchester United player. It's a magnificent goal without ever taking the context into consideration - a semi-final replay in extra time with your captain sent off against your main title rivals with the possibility of the Treble lingering in the background. Well, it could only ever be a magic goal to win a match like that. And Schmeichel! My word there was a big game player. Just like that match in 96 against Newcastle he pulled out the big saves
As a boring neutral who loves football this was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched. Had everything. Sendings offs, great goals , penalty saves, and more great goals. And it was the FA cup.
Gigg's the hero. The finest game played by the greatest team ever. Screw the world cup and its stinking pig greedy carupt vile leaders. The FA cup is the best, the oldest and the only one thats from The FA, yeh thats right FIFA, THE and only THE FA. The motherland of football.
yes!! ive been lookin for the one with martin tyler commentating. giggs - magical player. legend. i know he's welsh, but he used to play for england u21. if he stayed with england, we would have definitely won one.
Giggs never played for England under 21s, nor was he eligible to. He played schoolboy football for England because he was educated in England but under international rules at that time he could never have played for them.
That said, if he was English he'd still make the squad now no problem. I know who I'd rather have out of him and Joe Cole/Ashley Young/Stewart Downing/ (insert shit English left winger here).
Words just cannot describe how good this football match was. Just as great as the European Cup final. The only thing I'd change about those two matches is Roy Keane being sent off in this one and being sent off in the Semi's of the European Cup.
@MaratSafinVideos keane wasnt sent off in the semi final of the EC, he got a yellow card and played (imo) the greastest game ever by a single player knowing he would miss the final for reaching the yellow card limit. As Sir Alex said "he (keane) covered every blade of grass"
@godlike1007 That's what I meant, sorry. He played a great match indeed, he deserved leading the team in the final. Wish Keane was still in his prime, irreplaceable.
@rockyraccoon100 1 thing I've always wanted to know about these divers: who teaches them? If they are taught as youngsters to cheat and dive then is it not hypocritical of FIFA to punish those who dive and not punish those coaches who advocate it and say it's all right? If they are taught the coaches should be named and shamed for ruining the dignity of modern day football. Simple as that.
@pooka543 Coaches do to an extent, I remember an opposition coach telling his striker if he go into the box grab hold of the defender and then go down for a penalty, but I feel the refs are to blame, when I played I could have my ankles kicked and not get a free and when I lost the ball the ref wouldn't call the play back for a free kick by claiming advantage has been paid
Sorry bout the hello for some reason it dint post my post , anyway yeah this is my fav match of all time full 2 amazing sides full of passion ,nowadays players care more bout there paycheck :-( This game had absolutely everything i wish we could go back to these times :-(
This is my fav game ever you dont see matches like this anymore full of passion , 2 amazing sides theres too much money thats ruined it now:-(, I wish we still had this stuff, trust keano to get sent off haha
When we had awesome players. Now the modern game is littered with sub par players

The giggs goals was the best United goal ever considering all the despair we suffered in the match before then
Thinking Arsenal had snatched a winning goal
Keane getting sent off
Then the Penalty
Also it wasn't expected that a United would try and score. Ferguson said at that point we would have been happy with penalties...
Then out of the blue and like a shot in the dark, Giggs decided to give it a go and....
WHAM!!
Best. United. Goal. Ever.

What makes these great games even more special.....is Martin Tyler's commentary, the guy is a broadcasting legend.

Beckham last off pitch why doesn't that surprise me?
Beckham still has dreams of playing like Giggs's right foot.
jackwills101 11 months ago
@jackwills101 He was last off because he was on the far side when the game ended, although I think you're point still remains.

As frustrating as it is to be an arsenal supporter, there is no other team I respect getting beat by the most than Manu. Well done mates, you always make us double check our skill.

Runs like this put hair on your chest. Giggs made such runs!
Alibhijaan 11 months ago
That's nice, Lee Dixon going to shake Giggsy's hand at the end, very rare to see sportsmanship in this age of diving and ref hounding.
BenjiMan200 11 months ago 25
@BenjiMan200 he also jokes about it in an interview, "he didn't go past me once, he went past me twice" lol.

Bergkamp @ 1:50 - THAT would've been a free kick against Bergkamp if that happened today. Guaranteed.

Ultimate game. Had everything - a sending off, a penalty missed, a late, rally, and a wonder goal.

The amazing thing is that the current Arsenal and Man Utd teams are a pale shadow of these teams having spent 100s of millions.

As a boring neutral who loves football this was one of the most exciting games I have ever watched. Had everything. Sendings offs, great goals , penalty saves, and more great goals. And it was the FA cup.
angryadams 1 year ago
Gigg's the hero. The finest game played by the greatest team ever. Screw the world cup and its stinking pig greedy carupt vile leaders. The FA cup is the best, the oldest and the only one thats from The FA, yeh thats right FIFA, THE and only THE FA. The motherland of football.
mattlamarr 1 year ago
yes!! ive been lookin for the one with martin tyler commentating. giggs - magical player. legend. i know he's welsh, but he used to play for england u21. if he stayed with england, we would have definitely won one.
AutoJew 1 year ago
@AutoJew

MaratSafinVideos 1 year ago
@MaratSafinVideos keane wasnt sent off in the semi final of the EC, he got a yellow card and played (imo) the greastest game ever by a single player knowing he would miss the final for reaching the yellow card limit. As Sir Alex said "he (keane) covered every blade of grass"
godlike1007 1 year ago
@godlike1007 That's what I meant, sorry. He played a great match indeed, he deserved leading the team in the final. Wish Keane was still in his prime, irreplaceable.

@rockyraccoon100 1 thing I've always wanted to know about these divers: who teaches them? If they are taught as youngsters to cheat and dive then is it not hypocritical of FIFA to punish those who dive and not punish those coaches who advocate it and say it's all right? If they are taught the coaches should be named and shamed for ruining the dignity of modern day football. Simple as that.
pooka543 1 year ago
@pooka543 Coaches do to an extent, I remember an opposition coach telling his striker if he go into the box grab hold of the defender and then go down for a penalty, but I feel the refs are to blame, when I played I could have my ankles kicked and not get a free and when I lost the ball the ref wouldn't call the play back for a free kick by claiming advantage has been paid

i'd like to see anyone in the game today try and score giggsy's goal at the end.
