that must be the most unsafest place to go bungee jumping ever!!! It's obviously a damaged/thin rope, it's over crocodile infested waters and you usually get dipped in, and the people running it had no basic first aid training if anything was to happen anyway!!! They should be put in jail or fined or sued
5 years ago my friend did a bungee jump & said yes to the “SHOCK YOUR MATES DEATH TRICK!” option. Basically, before you jump they throw off a dummy on too long a rope- ‘He’ slams into the ground, splits open & fake blood & guts get sprayed everywhere.
His wife & 2 kids were watching- unfortunately she collapsed in horror & had to go to hospital. She couldn’t forgive him & the marriage never really recovered after that. Indeed, it took considerable persuasion to allow him access to the kids…
(1) It is still statistically much safer than driving to get to where you jump from, (2) we experimental confirmation that you are likely to survive a rope break with few injuries as the break will most likely only happen at maximum stretch = minimum vertical velocity. Seems to me to be a whole new adventure sport, must just ensure that the bounce back happens close to water.
Everyone knows it can be dangerous, so if you're sure you want to live, don't do this. Just don't. Or accept the possible consequenses and don't complain if something goes wrong.
@musician1971a erm i'm pretty sure you can complain-its not dangerous if the company doing it have any sense-the ropes will be changed regularly-that one already looked damaged
@musician1971a fuckin dumb cunt it's not about possibility. Possibility is when she jumps down and the rope accidentally choke her or something. Possibility is that she's lucky to be alive. This is the company's fault completely. Sue them lazy fuckers.
@musician1971a jesus you sound like a prick, the thing is that it shouldnt break you downz. People are gonna do it and the consequences should be maybe a sore back or neck not a fucking fall to where ever... idiot.
@jademtay Glad I found a like minded individual! If it was completely safe there wouldnt be reason 4 indemnity forms... Agreed!! :D I'm just waiting 4 our comments to be marked as Spam.. lol
U must be really stupid and ignorant if u think Bungee jumping accidents only happen in Africa!!! And stop marking all the intelligent comments as Spam!
Icy croc infested waters? Raging rapids?? He obviously forgot to mention the piranhas she had to evade and the 2 hungry t.rex's she had to battle with when she got out of the water.
@GetInThaKitchen Well, if you had been down the Zambezi gorge you would know that it is the beginning of huge and dangerous rapids and, yes, there lots of crocs there, but as for the freezing water? African rivers in summer are really not that cold.
If you "had" been down the Zambezi you'd know that there are NO crocs in the section where she went in, crocs will not venture into fast moving water. Have done this jump and rapids here myself twice, no breakages to report!
@sschlomo Actually, there are....they are however small, not the large Nileys that bask on hot sand banks. So while these are theoretically little threat, the river down there does in fact have crocs. It is a little like the Lions where I live, We never see them in the day time but every so often they decide to spend the night roaring outside our bedroom window.
@andrejsmith of course the tiny fresh water kind that hole up in the backwater eddy's NOT the fast water however, and certainly not the large Nile crocs that the media and some naive posters have intimated.
@sschlomo Yes, points well taken...once again the media involved have sensationalized what would have still been a powerful story with the hard facts alone. Stay well and keep your cynical and critical ear.
I did not see 1 dam crocodile it would have been a lot cooler if not only did she get injured and escape death from a freefallbut as her legs were still tied up and she was getting beat up by rocks she managed to evade 36 starving rogue 14 foot long crocs. Now that's a story!
@kookycanuck FYI tindting is an abbreviation of..there is no devil there is no god so go study your last post and remember I'm laughing while you read it and work it out..:-)
@salfordianthe Don't blame him, He's probably American, they can't help it. They have a natural urge to get money out of every situation. (FYI, before people start raging at me, I'm just kidding)
The rope was frayed prior to the jump. This chick is super lucky. The bungee company are absolute jokers. they clearly had no contingency plans in place. These guys need to be sued. This is a joke. You can't play with people's lives like this.
And thats why I dont see the point in jumping off buildings etc or out of planes... It just aint worth the risk imo... Respect to the people who do do it tho
The waters below the Zambezi are not crocodile infested due to the rapids you do find crocodiles but they are normally much further down the river where the water is calmer! Also this is the first incident in Zim & bungee jumpin has been goin for many many years now! With any extreme sports there will always be a risk - more people die white water rafting but there is still a huge demand for it!!!
3 days before this incident happens we also jump there..Me and my 3 friends do the bungee and we even did the gorge swing..We can really see that the rope was too old but we can't imagine that this is going to happened. We're very thankful to God that this Lady survived..
I dont want to belittle the trauma involved but the journalists hyperbole is sickening, why is the river "infested with crocs" could it just be inhabited or occupied or used by crocs? And then the water is described as icy, well crocs don't like icy water and you would be a long time in the zambezi before you could describe it as icy.
