let her sing the way she wants i love her voice and the lord above agrees to she shouldent be treated like that cuz of her singing that woman that told her to get out should go f*** herself
@cableaccesslover agreed if one is feeling the lord let them sing it out......and I am not even Christian and I think one should be able to sing like that if they want
@Speak560 thats how it seems many of these over zealous christian black women were n still are..some have some really mean evil ways...let the child sing.God is probably loving her praising 100 times more than the rest of fakerz....
And props to Laurence Fishburne in a thoroughly unsympathetic role. Not often we see a performance, of a brutal man, which is neither sensational nor exploitative, yet makes us wonder about dimensions of a human being we aren't given to see. It's a fine line & Fishburne gives a brave, uncompromising portrayal. His performance transcends stereotype, yet scares the crap out of us. A terrific turn by Vanessa Bell Calloway as well,as Jackie. Fine actors who deserve more roles equal to their talents.
Thank you for the upload. Unforgettable, stunning performance by Angela Bassett. A subtle yet powerful, deeply moving portrayal. Tina Turner, a singer who found inner strengths to match her gifts. Bassett, an actress who delivers intelligence, vulnerability, strength, and then some in roles that can barely keep up with her. Few can equal these women today, on stage or screen, and with such stirring authenticity. Love 'em.
@Biopics3001 Until today, I hadn't seen this movie again for many years. Yet, today, I keep going back to it. Impossible to shake Bassett's "incarnation" of Ms. Turner out of my mind. What powerhouse performances by Bassett & Fishburne. Supposedly, Fishburne was offered the role multiple times, but turned it down repeatedly, only changing his mind when Bassett landed the lead role. If that's true, we can see why on screen. Riveting. Just riveting. Many thanks again, Biopics3001.
@ishmyl99 Thank you for allowing me to watch this film during my winter vacation from college. This movie was entertaining. You Tube...You're the BEST!!!
@beyoncetyratina I agree. But, for good or bad, Hollywood is an industry that often cuts corners on accuracy, blurring certain edges or greater complexities of the stories it tells. Hopefully, some people will be motivated to read Ms. Turner's book, if not learn more about Mr. Turner's role in U.S. American music. But, in its admiration and respect for Ms. Turner's talent, resiliency, and courage, the movie (and Ms. Bassett) are a resounding triumph, aren't they?
You're right. All though this movie was way off base, it still is a good movie. But I also have to agree that, hopefully, others will read the book rather than believe all of what has happened in this movie.
@beyoncetyratina Clearly, you know a lot more than I do on this subject. I'm one of those people who would like to read Ms. Turner's book, and read more about Mr. Turner's early days in music. Could you give a few examples of where this movie is off-base? Where it brushed on gloss at the expense of accuracy/fairness/complexity? Thanks. And cheers.
