I love this music video you did a great job! Zenyatta and RA are each HOY in their own rights, they are both the queens of racing. Zenyatta was not a coward at 3, her size postponed her from even racing at two. She raced when she was 4, they wanted to make sure she was sound and strong. Zenyatta's owners ran her in the breeders cup classic because she was healthy and sound. The 2010 classic, that girl proved she had heart. 20 lengths behind and she came up a head short. Stop the fight,it's dumb.
Zenyatta won all but 1, and there came in 2nd, losing by a nose. All this accomplished pretty much coming from last place on the last stretch on the majority of the races. I can make hypothesis and imagine the 'clock' would be different had Zenyatta raced faster horses, but, she can only race her generation. She faced the best, and she beat the best... and she ducked no one.

Rachel obviously had issues this year and was no where near her peak, especially not in april for the apple blossom. To run against zenyatta would have been too stressful for her, she wasn't the horse she was in 2009. It would have been cruel of her owners to run her against zenyatta after an 8 month lay off when she wasn't in top form. If they could have gotten her back into top form, maybe she would have run in the cup. The question is whether they could have beat each other at RA's peak.
It was Zenyatta, not RA that was in retirement from 2009-2010. It was Zenyatta who came out of retirement to run against RA.
The question is there should not be any questions. They should have raced. She raced before the Apple Blossom. And if she had raced in the Apple Blossom and lost to Zenyatta, then your argument would be very valid.

I've been feeling this has turned into East vs. West argument. The east obviously has better racing, because it has more G1s than over the rockies.

Frank Whitely her trainer, and Jacinto Vasquez her rider? He was actually asked that question soon after her death, and was obviously very emotional. Thats why they wait 5 years until the horse can be inducted into the hall of fame, because of EMOTIONS. Lucien Lauren did too, there was no chance in hell that filly would've beaten Sec. Ruffian was obviously more talented than RA, but RA accomplished MORE. Thats what made her the better horse in accomplishments.

You can't just assume she would have carried on to be the greatest horse of all time. It doesn't work that way. Ruffian won many great races, but never out of her New York backyard. She was very lightly raced, and had virtually no competition. When your running against a clock its easier to break records. Not to mention Secretariat was much more versatile. He could run on Dirt ,Turf, Mud anything really. Trying to say she is better than Sec is ABSURD. END OF STORY.

In racing, all over the world, a female racehorse is a filly until she is 4yo. Once she turns 5, she becomes a mare. Likewise, a male racehorse is a colt until he turns 5, when he then becomes a "horse", unless of course, he is a gelding. Zenyatta raced twice as a 3yo, winning her MSW & Allowance, and then grew famous in her 4yo campaign. She was a filly...

No matter how many times I watch this, my heart still gets a'poundin' and my eyes well up a bit. I would love to watch the two face off, and this video really gets the excitement raging. Though honestly now, there never was, and never will be, a "match race." People keep comparing this to Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure, but the story is about Rachel and Zenyatta facing off in a RACE. That is, the two of them running in a race with at least 2 or 3 other horses. It's no match race.

Zenyatta was not a coward at 3, her size postponed her from even racing at two. She raced when she was 4, they wanted to make sure she was sound and strong. Zenyatta's owners ran her in the breeders cup classic because she was healthy and sound. The 2010 classic, that girl proved she had heart. 20 lengths behind and she came up a head short. Stop the fight,it's dumb.

Horses race horses, not stop watches.
Zenyatta won all but 1, and there came in 2nd, losing by a nose. All this accomplished pretty much coming from last place on the last stretch on the majority of the races. I can make hypothesis and imagine the 'clock' would be different had Zenyatta raced faster horses, but, she can only race her generation. She faced the best, and she beat the best... and she ducked no one.

Rachel obviously had issues this year and was no where near her peak, especially not in april for the apple blossom. To run against zenyatta would have been too stressful for her, she wasn't the horse she was in 2009. It would have been cruel of her owners to run her against zenyatta after an 8 month lay off when she wasn't in top form. If they could have gotten her back into top form, maybe she would have run in the cup. The question is whether they could have beat each other at RA's peak.

It was Zenyatta, not RA that was in retirement from 2009-2010. It was Zenyatta who came out of retirement to run against RA.
The question is there should not be any questions. They should have raced. She raced before the Apple Blossom. And if she had raced in the Apple Blossom and lost to Zenyatta, then your argument would be very valid.

The RA owners are cowards, plain and simple. They were set to race, and REMEMBER it was Zenyatta that came out of retirement TO race RA, so if any horse wasn't prepared, it was Z.
RA Owners knew Z was going to beat her, but instead of giving her the chance, they went to the fetal position, and pulled out like the cowards they are, and Z is the better horse by default.

Everyone knew they were to meet at the Apple Blossom. It was no secret. So RA skipped along in her own back yard in the east, so who cares? Everyone knows the Kentucky horses are only good now because they looted and robbed the Louisiana horse farms back in the civil war days, so there is nothing for the east to brag about, having stolen horses.

You could also argue that the east has better racing because they have time to lollygag with horses all day while living on welfare. Thus the need for the owners of RA to milk her for all they can, because RA's success caused them to lose their disability check.

Frank Whitely her trainer, and Jacinto Vasquez her rider? He was actually asked that question soon after her death, and was obviously very emotional. Thats why they wait 5 years until the horse can be inducted into the hall of fame, because of EMOTIONS. Lucien Lauren did too, there was no chance in hell that filly would've beaten Sec. Ruffian was obviously more talented than RA, but RA accomplished MORE. Thats what made her the better horse in accomplishments.

You can't just assume she would have carried on to be the greatest horse of all time. It doesn't work that way. Ruffian won many great races, but never out of her New York backyard. She was very lightly raced, and had virtually no competition. When your running against a clock its easier to break records. Not to mention Secretariat was much more versatile. He could run on Dirt ,Turf, Mud anything really. Trying to say she is better than Sec is ABSURD. END OF STORY.

In racing, all over the world, a female racehorse is a filly until she is 4yo. Once she turns 5, she becomes a mare. Likewise, a male racehorse is a colt until he turns 5, when he then becomes a "horse", unless of course, he is a gelding. Zenyatta raced twice as a 3yo, winning her MSW & Allowance, and then grew famous in her 4yo campaign. She was a filly...

@2jazzyhap It's more cause the trainer had no idea how to train a horse, It was the good call to stop her in August like many vets said cause she had such a hard campain, but they didn't do ANYTHING with the horses for MONTHS and they totally rush in just a couple of weeks hoping that pushing her in a couple of weeks will bring her totally back. It was the worse training ever. It wasn't a surprise that she wasn't ready for her return

And all her records are better than Zenyattas? The only record that counts is wins and losses, and Zenyatta only lost 1 time, where she came in 2nd place.

and no, thats not all the counts, speed wins a race! and RA was unbeaten as a 3 yearold, and zenyatta didnt even race as a 3 yearold, compititon is its hottest for 3 yearolds, so zenyatta is the coward for not racing as a 3 yearold!

No matter how many times I watch this, my heart still gets a'poundin' and my eyes well up a bit. I would love to watch the two face off, and this video really gets the excitement raging. Though honestly now, there never was, and never will be, a "match race." People keep comparing this to Ruffian-Foolish Pleasure, but the story is about Rachel and Zenyatta facing off in a RACE. That is, the two of them running in a race with at least 2 or 3 other horses. It's no match race.

You can watch both races live on NTRA website they will start broadcasting at 6:00pm EST with RA running at post time 6:15 EST and Zenny at 6:40 EST. It says on the website that anyone in the world w/ a internet connection can watch!

If they want to make a big deal about livestreaming the race, they better make sure it actually works. Incase you hadnt picked it up, I am kinda pissed off. I'm exhausted, have been up since 5am, working racehorses all morning, mucking out stalls etc, and would normally have gone to bed 4 hours ago. NTRA is not in my good books atm =/

Well I think that Zenyatta will beat Rachel well I have 2 reasons:
1. Zenyatta because she beat the boys easly in the breeders cup classic and Rachel had some problem beating Macho Again in the Woodward.
2. Zenyatta beat some of the worlds best Colts in the Classic and Rachel just some of the Americas best colts.
