the only thing ive noticed siri is useful for is to ask it ridiculous questions or statements and see what the geniuses at apple decided they wanted siri to say. otherwise, there rly isnt a big difference between tellme and siri. just putting a copper plating over nickel.
You didn't balance your video with useful commands that TellMe can handle that Siri cannot. For instance, if you would have said "Start Netflix", the WP would have started Netflix. Siri: "Searching the web for Netflix." Say "Call Voicemail", WP will call your VoiceMail rather than saying "I can't help you with voicemail". That would have provided balance to your video to show that both services have work to do. Launching apps with voice commands is probably the most basic of voice features.
My personal experience is that TellMe has much better voice recognition than Siri. (I have an American accent.) I've also found with my 6-year-old kids that Siri has never understood a word they have told it. TellMe gets it right most of the time. Siri also has a problem understanding my wife, and unfortunately it is her iPhone.
Nice idea of comparing the two technologies, but you really lost credibility by how you handled it and just exposed more of your bias in the follow up. All you really wanted to do was flame Microsoft and give Apple fanboys something to smile about. OK, you did that. But some of us just like just saying to the phone "find this...or open that..." It cuts through the crap. I really don't want to say much more to a ****** machine than that. Tell Me is an app not a person. I am OK with that.
You guys are so fuckin stupid..The SIri is not Actually made in APPLE.. And tell me is not also MAde in MS. This are software they just put into their phones stupid people..You can't compare these 2 phones to that voice interface. I admit siri is way better when it comes to voice interface, but MS is way way much better than iphone4s if were talking to phone capability.NUFF said -.-
Well this is very Microsoft too do this... They have always taken shots at apple in this fashion... If you remember when a reporter asked Bill Gates about the first iMac. He said will I can put a coat of blue paint on my PC or something along those lines... So this is nothing new just the same song and dance... Users of these products ans services no the real deal...
The reason he gave TellMe commands that he knew it wouldn't support was to prove the point that TellMe is NOT in the same league as Siri. It is more natural to ask someone "What is the time in Perth?" than COMMAND them "Time: Perth, Australia." More natural to say "Remind me when I leave work to get milk at the store." than "Reminder: 5pm Milk." (In that case, what if you don't leave work AT 5? I have a habit of dismissing early reminders and then forgetting about them.) Apples and Elephants.
Siri came out a year after Microsoft created windows phone... iPhone has been around YEARS before the windows phone, remember WP7 was built from the ground up not on previous versions. So would it not be fair to give them a chance to continue playing catch up.
Microsoft does have a Siri like tell me down the pipe line just an FYI
3:20 -- a company will never publicly say that someone's making better products than they are. Microsoft really doesn't care about Windows Phone 7...they are making so much money on android sales right now, it's ridiculous. They have cross-licensing agreements with a majority of android ODM's and if they really wanted to, they could make Windows Phone better. Maybe they actually will, but I doubt it. It's easier for them to put their resources where they have a chance to compete (Windows 8).
1:00 -- epic point -- and that's the phrase-ology that microsoft uses directly from their developers -- "natural user interface" -- it's supposed to be intuitive, meaning you shouldn't have to configure it a certain way, it should already be configured to the way you or anyone else wants to use it.
Microsoft actually had an even bigger head start via Sync in Ford vehicles starting in 2007. IOW: MegaloManiaSoft sat around twiddling their thumbs for 4 years while Apple successfully sought, bought and an implemented a far superior system.
So if you knew that Tellme required specific voice commands and intentionally didn't use them the video was heavily biased. Otherwise you would have said things like "Open twitter, open email, open maps" and the Windows Phone would have succeeded while the iPhone failed. You just wanted to make a point, but pretended like it was an honest comparison. I don't think it is that unnatural to say commands like "Find, Open, Text, or Call" If I ask my Windows Phone "what is the weather," it shows me.
Microsoft were definitely talking rubbish, but you calling them disingenuous is pretty hypocritical.
You just admitted you gave it commands that you KNOW it doesn't support. This is analogous to reacting to "Windows 7 is just as good as OSX" by demonstrating that Win7 cannot run OSX applications.
Siri is undeniably better than TellMe by far, but your video is an incredibly unfair way of showing this.
Apple has also had voice commands for longer than a year already. Siri does not only equal those limited voice commands. Apple understands this and MSFT just doesn't care. A great summary of those 2 companies in general.
Hey guys, if you think it was biased, why not create a similar video out of situations where Siri fails and Windows Phone 7 doesn't? That's all you'd have to do to shut everyone up. If you can't, then Siri is clearly the better product. It's that simple really.
Jason I know you feeI it's "not in line with microsofts strategy" and was trying to make a point over the differences but the simply fact is that was a biased video towards Siri. You point is valid but your method was not. A better video would have been to highlight the actual differences rather than say things the phone didn't understand.

the facts are all there.. Siri doesn't need SPECIFIC commands to work and it can work with most accents. I don't need to remember a ton of "set commands" to get it to text someone, You tell Siri what to do it doesn't tell you what to do, MS had a whole year head start as they brag, it's pretty sad that within that year they never thought to support accents. And mind you I own a HTC HD2 a MYTOUCH 4G and a iphone 4S
this is what happened when IDIOTS are trying to "compare" things. but they don't know anything about it.

TellMe is no different from Voice Control in iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4's. But...big deal. However, it is, in no way, shape or form, like Siri. Period.
