If you were ever to go to Cambodia instead of professing to know something about it because you watched a 30 minute show, or because you read national geographic, you would find that ethnic Cambodians call themselves Khmer, speak Khmer and eat Khmer food. Khmer's are also large minorities in Vietnam, Thailand and Burma. I'm not surprised you haven't heard of any independent SE Asian research, because that wouldn't sell many adds on discovery channel, which is obviously the only place you look.
