Well... We can make a big discussion about "which car looks better". In the end, it's a matter of taste. It is a fact that Porsche sells way much more Panameras than AM sells Rapides. So it's obvious that the Rapide is a little bit more exclusive.
I'm from Germany and I love Porsche. But I've to say that the design of the Aston Martin Rapide is very special and with big love for the detail.
In my opinion Aston Martin should put a Twinturbo and a launchcontrol in that thing... :)

I would choose the Aston as well, but the next question is.... Aston is like Audi. They look all the same. unfortunately

I'd have the Rapide. Better quality, looks, exclusivity. The only reason someone would take a Panamera is because of the speed and practicality. So why not buy an S63 with performance pack. Then you'd have a sedan that is faster, more practical, and doesn't look like a humpback whale. Oh and it's the same price.
I had the AMAZING opportunity to step in and drive a Rapide for about 60 miles... The car is truly impressive and intimidating. However, once you get used to the throttle response (very torquey and smooth and yet really urgent) you kind of realise that it's like a really big saloon car with a bit more presence and a bit less space. I ADORED those 60 miles, they are one of my fondest memories ever. Still...I'm not sure I'd pay the extra money compaired to the AWFULLY LOOKING Panamera...

As I said, the car is stunning and its presence and looks are truly amazing, especially in the right ambiance. You can tell how biased he is towards the Porsche. 4 people in it for the same test, and look at how unenthusiastic his facial expression is when he finds out that the Porsche was faster. I have yet to see a Rapide in action. Aston Martin buyers still seem to fancy the V8 Vantage and if they're dropping about $200K, the DB9 seems to be the preference. Lots of DB9s and Vantages, no Rapides so far.
A guy would choose the Panamera, a gentleman would choose the Rapide. The car you drive defines your taste. Personally i think the Panamera looks like a frog, whereas the Rapide is somehow a more practical version of the DB9, which is astonishing.

Look on the dash. On the Aston there is no red line or the red thingy on the rev dial, yet the Porsche does. That just comes to show that you, as the driver, are a part of the car. It gives you the sensation in your spine of when to shift gear. And with that, is pure amazement.

I would choose the Aston as well, but the next question is.... Aston is like Audi. They look all the same. unfortunately

I'd have the Rapide. Better quality, looks, exclusivity. The only reason someone would take a Panamera is because of the speed and practicality. So why not buy an S63 with performance pack. Then you'd have a sedan that is faster, more practical, and doesn't look like a humpback whale. Oh and it's the same price.

I had the AMAZING opportunity to step in and drive a Rapide for about 60 miles... The car is truly impressive and intimidating. However, once you get used to the throttle response (very torquey and smooth and yet really urgent) you kind of realise that it's like a really big saloon car with a bit more presence and a bit less space. I ADORED those 60 miles, they are one of my fondest memories ever. Still...I'm not sure I'd pay the extra money compaired to the AWFULLY LOOKING Panamera...

As I said, the car is stunning and its presence and looks are truly amazing, especially in the right ambiance. Still, the price is awfully high and I struggled to see any other justifications for it than the ones mentioned above.

You can tell how biased he is towards the Porsche. 4 people in it for the same test, and look at how unenthusiastic his facial expression is when he finds out that the Porsche was faster. I love Aston Martins for their image and luxury, but if I wanted a performance sedan, it's the Porsche hands down. In real life, I think they look gorgeous, especially in black with the 911 turbo wheels.

aston martin 470hp, panamera 500hp. the aston is non- supercharged (normally aspirated), panamera is turboed. the aston is 6L V12, the Pan is 4.8L V8.

I have yet to see a Rapide in action. Aston Martin buyers still seem to fancy the V8 Vantage and if they're dropping about $200K, the DB9 seems to be the preference. Lots of DB9s and Vantages, no Rapides so far.

Look on the dash. On the Aston there is no red line or the red thingy on the rev dial, yet the Porsche does. That just comes to show that you, as the driver, are a part of the car. It gives you the sensation in your spine of when to shift gear. And with that, is pure amazement.
